DO NOT GO TO JJs Transmission - Alexander, AR I dropped my vehicle off on January 15 after being told the transmission rebuild would take 2-3 days. Instead, the business kept my car until March 6, nearly two months. Communication was poor throughout the entire experience. From the beginning, phone calls were not answered and the voicemail box was full, so messages could not be left. My dad had to go to the shop in person multiple times just to get updates. There were instances where he went to the shop in person and the business was locked, preventing customers from entering, even though individuals were inside. On multiple occasions, I was told the vehicle was ready for pickup when it was not. In total, I picked up the vehicle THREE separate times after being told it was repaired. Each time, the transmission was still not functioning properly. I have video evidence showing that the vehicle was not drivable and could barely make it out of the driveway and down the road after pickup. On February 4, I picked up my vehicle after paying $3,155 in cash. Immediately after leaving the shop, the transmission was not shifting properly and the engine was revving loudly. I returned the vehicle right away. The only action taken at that time was adding transmission fluid, which did not fix the issue. They then kept my car again until March 6. When I picked it up, I was again led to believe the issue was resolved. However, on March 13, the vehicle broke down in the middle of the road and had to be towed. I'm thankful I wasn't on the freeway & didn't have cars around me. I could have been seriously injured. When I contacted the business after the breakdown, I was told they had someone in my area who could fix it and that I would receive a call back immediately. I never received a call back, and multiple attempts to contact them after that went unanswered. The only receipt I have ever received was given to me the first time I picked up the vehicle. It is handwritten, difficult to read, and does not clearly list what work was performed. I was told to take a photo of the receipt and that the owner's wife would email me a proper copy along with warranty information. I provided my email address but never received anything. The receipt also contains conflicting warranty terms, stating both "12 month warranty" and "12,000 mile warranty," and includes incorrect mileage that is significantly higher than the actual mileage on my vehicle. I later learned that a second transmission had been installed in my vehicle without my knowledge or consent. I originally paid for a rebuild of my existing transmission. The business also claimed to be a member of the Better Business Bureau, which I later found to be a LIE. These people are dishonest, unreliable, & unsafe.I'm now almost at $4,000 in repairs and towing for a car that still doesn't work. I paid $2, 700 for a transmission to be pulled out and rebuilt. They never even pulled it, lied about bad parts, and while my jeep is there,for it's third return for problems, a wrecker from another shop backed into it and totaled it!!! I finally got $2700 for my jeep from the folks who wrecked it, so I got basically my rig stolen without insurance coverage. Lying thieves with no honor, integrity, or character. These people are absolute trash. This doesn't even appear to be a legitimate business at this point, perhaps a poorly run cover for a meth operation or a chop shop. Believe the reviews, your vehicle will be held hostage for months as the drug addled owner feeds you lie upon lie and attempts to squeeze you for cash to cover work that has not and will never be done. Be prepared to tow your vehicle out even if you drove it in, because these low rent Breaking Bad rejects will either destroy your transmission with their incompetence or just start parting your vehicle out in order to keep the lights on. Also, you'll be in for a real treat if the owner's wife gets involved, as she screams at you incoherently in a meth fueled delusion about her "health problems" and how "disrespectful" it is for you to actually want to receive the service you paid for. Believe this shop attempted to cover up their failure to rebuild the transmission correctly by disconnecting map sensor to cover up bad torque converter/transmission code! I believe they deliberately wrote 12 mi. instead of 12k mi., 12 month (verbally told me 12k) warranty! This company refuses to warranty the transmission, claiming I was rude to them when I was forced to pay $3,300 cash (1 day notice that instead of $2,900 - up from 2k, 2,300, 2,600, 2,900, then 3,400- was able to get them to take $100 off because they would only accept cash),without getting to test drive my vehicle! The day before it was completed they had me sign what amounted to a gag agreement! I bought 2 cans of freon with dispenser mechanisms $180 to get a/c working again. They should have made sure the line was up so it didnt leak out if they didnt want to refill it when they disconnected it to do work! It cost me $217 to have engine mount replaced and map sensor reconnected. Engine mount did not show normal wear and tear. Engine mount is a $50 part, most of the cost was to remove engine which they should have notified me and put in when they put engine and transmission back in! I took it to Honda who informed me it needed a new transmission! Called JJs who claim that they will NOT honor warranty as they brought up the paperwork says 12 mi. warranty, not 12k mi. warranty! Guess I will have to file against these devils! One star because I cant give NONE! would give zero stars if I could. came here because my car started breaking down and it was the closest mechanic to me. I asked if they could take a look at my car just to tell me what it needed and if it was even safe to drive and they said that they would do an evaluation for free.. I asked them not to do anything before calling me and they said that they would call me at the end of the day. Didn't hear from them for about a week even after calling multiple times and leaving a voicemail. I showed up and they said that they hadn't even gotten a chance to look at it yet but would look at it that day and give me a call.. still nothing. I called the following day and asked about my car and he started saying that I needed a few things but I couldn't understand him so I asked him to repeat himself a couple of times. Next thing I know, i'm being yelled at by some woman saying that I owe them $250 for the fluids they put in my car (mind you, I asked them to refrain from doing anything before calling me) and I told them that I'm not paying them. I tried to ask her some questions but she kept repeating that I needed to tell them what I wanted them to do with my car. I tried to respond that I just needed them to let me know what needed fixing and asked to talk to whoever I talked to when I brought it and she kept saying "i'm the owner you can talk to me" and grew increasingly frustrated asking me to stop talking and let her talk even though she literally just asked me a question? very poor customer service and extremely rude woman. I told her that I was just coming to get my car and she hung up on me.. she then called me back (and told me that I wasn't allowed to speak because she called me..lol) and said to just come get my car and leave which was what I intended to do either way. I got there and asked her if they had done anything and if they had any paperwork but she said that they didn't even touch it apparently and then went on with some sob story about how they couldn't answer the phone because she had or was about to have surgery or something but yeah that's not my problem sorry. She told us to get our shit and leave and said she didn't like drama there which is bull because I was nothing but nice before she started being nasty for no reason, had a fat attitude and was talking over me on the phone. Poor excuse for a business and I got the impression that she may have been on something by the way it was handled. I feel bad for anyone that has to be around her. Also would like to add that I got home and realized that my license plate was halfway off and extremely dented? not sure what that's about.. seems like someone got mad and kicked the shit out of my car but that's just my theory. My name is Jeff. I have multiple cars that I take to JJ's Transmission. Every time I have taken my car there the mechanic is very personable and does a good job. In a busy shop it may take a little longer than I was quoted but the price is very reasonable, and you can tell they do good work their lot is always packed with customers waiting to get in. They answer any question I have about my car. And they tell me how to fix it in case I want to do it on my own. They have a good warranty plan also. I have taken my 2011 Cadillac Escalade, my 69 Chevy C10 and my 77 Trans am to them. Every time they are very nice and go above and beyond to make sure I'm satisfied and my car is happy. I always see nice cars being worked on. BMW, Jaguar, and Escalades, Mercedes Benz. No job is too small or too big. Great Shop !!!!! read more

My truck has been at there shop for almost 3 years now. No work has been done. I have payed them for parts, they lost my motor mounts and extended me to pay for it. I wouldn't be surprised if they were parting my truck out for cash. read more

Well !!! Where do I start... My First Red Flag - When LKQ called the shop to verify the motor and to make sure they where sending out the right motor, they where told that my motor did not have an EGR valve so that's what they sent. After waiting 3 days for the motor to arrive at Jj's transmission when it did I was told that the job had already started but they needed replacement parts so I was told It would take a few days to get a quote and order the parts so I decided to go to autozone and purchase all the parts needed for a whopping $200 dollars and drop them off personally, well that didn't make the owner to happy because I was told that he make his money of if parts.. as off you aren't marking 1200 already off of the repair itself so While I was there I checked on the truck to see if the job had actually been started only to see my truck sitting there with the motor still in the crate, so I said to myself no big deal it's a shop these guys have lots of work to do so I continued to wait a couple days later I get a call from LKQ telling me that the motor they sent was the wrong motor and that my original did have an EGR valve and that the shop had made a mistake, still no call from the shop regarding the matter, so after talking with LKQ we found a solution to that problem and it was time to move on. My Second Red Flag- Now after dealing with all these simple issues that could have been avoided and a very condescending receptionist I thought my problems where finally over and that I would finally get my truck back. Well I was wrong ! On the day the truck was to be finished I get a call from the shop owner saying that the motor LKQ. Sent me was a bad motor and that I would need to submit a warranty claim and mind you LQK Warranty's only cover up to $50 an hour meaning I would have to come out of pocket another $500 just to have him do the same job again I was furious ! And I told them I did not want them to work on my truck any longer and that I would have someone else do the repairs and that I was not happy with there work or there professionalism, well after telling them that I would told that they would not accept anyone it or credit card from them and that I had to pay them cash, because they where worried that since I didn't like there work that I would do a "charge back" which caught me by surprise because I was paying for the job on my credit card due not not having that amount of cash to drop at that time, I asked why that was and I was lied to and told that there credit card machines where down and other reason, so I sent someone in there undercover to have a simple job done and I told them to pay with a debit card and record it for me, and behold there credit card machine weren't down they accepted his card with open arms. So after that I took it upon my self to call a tow truck and have it meet me there to tow my truck from the shop and pay my bill to get it released I took $500 in cash and $600 credit and told them that was all I had to work with and they accepted that with hesitation telling me to be man and not do a charge back, not once did I mention a charge back I just wanted my truck back. So while I was there I had my Rep at LKQ send a gentleman out to inspect the motor and see what the issue was, while he was inspecting it the rep asked me to come back in about an hour when he was finished so I left and told the tow company I'd call again later We'll an hour later I get a call saying that the motor is perfectly fine and good to go?????? THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS MOTOR THE WHOLE TIME !! Can you believe that ! So I took it as a blessing and picked up my truck! And went my separate way ! Of course after calling the attorney general office to file a complaint for them trying to strong arm me into paying cash ! And I left it at that no YELP review or anything because I was just glad to not have to deal with them any longer ! No this is the crazy part ! 1 month later I take my truck in for an oil change at a local jiffy lube only for them to tell me they won't touch it! When I asked why they said because whoever changed the oil last time had rounded off "stripped" the oil pan bolt and left it on ! And that was leaking oil??? Almost a whole quart and half had leaked out Luckily I caught it in time like what What professional shop leaves a stripped oil pan bolt ! But anyway I finally take it to a local firestone to get the bolt take off and replace only for them to tell me that I had a " Rear main Seal Leak" !!!! At this point I'm at a loss for words I call the shop and I ask them about it and they tell me to bring it in and let them look at it which of course I'm not going to do and they they ask me if I submitted a letter to the attorney general so I told them yes I did and they tell me that it was " rude and disrespectful " so I hung up ! read more

We brought our beloved Minnie Winnie RV back to JJ's for a different issue. After they took great care of our fuel pump problem, I was impressed with their knowledge of transmissions. Ours had been slipping & "Shifting down" occasionally, so I elected to let them diagnose our RV. I agreed with their recommendation to rebuild, and they quoted an estimate. We picked up our RV and they honored the estimate, and it was ready the next day. We never look forward to having to repair any vehicle, BUT when necessary we will return. read more

The owner JJ was very nice, but the receptionist who works up front is very rude and dishonest. The receptionist tried to charge us almost $200 more than the estimate without even calling to let us know about the price increase before starting on the car. We were told by JJ that a high estimate for fixing the car would be about $500 total for the part and labor when we dropped it off. Yesterday we came back to ask what the total cost was going to be and she was unable to find the part or the receipt for the part and asked us to call later that night to get a total price. We were told by her that just the labor cost would be $500 and then explained to her JJ had told us it would be about $250 for labor and she agreed to change it. We called back that night and she still did not know the price including the part and told us to call back in the morning. After calling today we finally were told the total price was going to be about $684 after they had already started on the car before even calling to ask us if we stilled wanted it to be done since it was $180 more than we were originally told. After speaking with JJ and letting him know the situation he stuck by his word and took $100 off the total, but the receptionist was still very rude about it and told us things like "you got your way..." and was getting upset with us saying "you called six times yesterday I can pull up the caller ID if I need to." Not sure why it was even important how many times he called because of course it was important for us to know the price to fix the car, but he pulled up the calls on his phone and there had only been two made to this shop yesterday. She said that we had been told a price the day before and I tried to step in and tell her that was not true as I had been there every time he talked to them so I knew we were not told a total price. She then stuck her hand in the air in front of her face and said rude things like "lady I'm not talking to you this isn't your car, I don't even know who you are" I had gone with him every time to talk with them about the car so it was my business and I was just trying to explain to her that she was mistaken and we were definitely not told a total price yesterday or before they started on the car. She insisted that we were lying over and over again and told him that Jeff gave us a price yesterday. That was a clear red flag and a mistake on her part as we did not even speak to Jeff the day before when we came to ask about the total price. She continued to be very rude to both of us complaining about different things. Overall she tried to charge us $180 more than the estimated price we agreed to and didn't bother to tell us of the price increase before starting on the car. JJ did a great job fixing the car, but it's not worth the hassle due to the receptionist being unorganized, dishonest about pricing, and rude. She wasn't able to find the part or the receipt for the part until the next day and didn't tell us the price until after she already started on the car. She claims we were told a price the day before but she made a mistake as I had been there each time he went up there and she never gave us the total price. Called and rec'd a quote for service that was to take 1 hr. Service required took longer but JJ's stood by their original quote and only charged me for what they quoted instead of the 4 or 5 hours of service they had every right to charge me for. Nice guys. read more
