Love coming here! The guys always have great recommendations to pair with whatever we are having…read morefor dinner. Super friendly and knowledgeable about wine, always getting new product in. It's our go-to for an inexpensive bottle to pair with pizza or a fancy bottle to gift at a housewarming. Love when the pup is in the building as well, he always has a great rec!

For the particular brand of tequila I was in for, however, the store only carried the Blanco (silver) one so no Reposado and/or Anejo. I, however, was able to walk away with its tequila-based coffee liqueur (Cantera Negra Cafe) which I had always wanted to try. The employees (pretty much all of them) were very professional and courteous for my shopping needs. The store is a good size. Very organized where things aren't cramped into the space. Very clean indeed. On Thursday and Saturday, they do tastings (4-7pm on Thursdays and 3-6pm on Saturdays); the designated tasting area is on the north end of the shop. You can park in the Whole Foods garage (there is a door to it inside the shop; this is convenient especially when the weather is bad with rain or show.) I don't come to this part of town very often but it's nice to know that a good liquor store with high-end feel exists right in the heart of Belmar shopping area.

This is an outstanding local operation run by a family---father Dan (who is scaling back), son…read moreJoshua, and daughter Hana. The owners are willing and eager to educate you fairly about their products. For example, there are wine tastings on Thursdays and Fridays, and they will explain the relative merits of products---not only or primarily the expensive ones, but what might be the best value for you. They also have good sales. In 2011 a local person tipped us off about this store, and we've been going their ever since----bypassing many closer stores. We've never been disappointed.

The owner and the help here are 1000% more helpful than any place I've ever been! Josh help me out today! When it comes to wine, he knows what he's talking about! We bought a half case, which in this case was really only six bottles. Cause that's the way it came. The corks on every bottle was dry. A little too dry for my wife. So every bottle was a pain to open. I took back three bottles to show him what the issue was. He took our three bottles back and gave us a full case. Meaning six new bottles. He also introduced me to a tool which I had no idea about. And I have bartended for 17 years. Including a country club and a wedding facility. He is by far one of the most knowledgeable people I have met when it comes to wine, who is not a sommelier. I'm pretty sure he's probably studying for it! Thank you, Josh! As the old saying goes, happy wife happy life! And let alone the guy who owns the place. Will treat you right every time you come in. And he hires some of the best people. Thank you, Philnor liquor Ron and Jet.

I dont know why, but every time you go in here, theres always a "hello" from one of the staff, but…read moreits just like them trying to see if youre going to rob them or not. I wear nice clothes, so its not like im under dressed or something. If you ask them for help or where something is, its always like they dont know english, but you know they do because they speak it when you need to pay and they know all the names of the liquor. Overall, its like they look down on people while selling them their liquor, and their attitudes are always the same. The worst is the smallest and skinnier one - the one who is working today in the afternoon. He always mumbles something after you pay, and never says thank you/you're welcome or responds to you if you say something. The mumbling in hindi really gets annoying IE, hey i dont want jack with apples, do you have regular?" "no, want jim bean?" "sure", and then instant mumbling in hindi as if he thinks you dont know hes talking crap about you. This is the united states - most diverse country in the world. we know when foreigners are talking crap. This was the last time ill go to this liquor store. Theres another option literally less than a block away. Customer service is everything in the USA. maybe yall should learn that. I feel bad for whoever the owner is, because the staff is really not as welcoming as i would think he wants them to be. Ill give them another try in a few months to see if anythings changed.

Since new ownership, quality has drastically gone down hill and does not feel like our neighborhood store anymore. Trying to support small local businesses but when the whole feel/friendliness of store changes along with quality then its's really hard to support

They should be visited for that alone, I presume their wine selection is also solid. Unfortunately, the level of pompous from the woman that I do not believe is the owner (but is always there smoking cigs out front) exhibits is amazing. I can find all of the beers they have at other spots, so no need to deal with that. I now stop there only out of convenience and probably won't after this post. I just wish they would drop the front and bring back the idea that their special selection is for everyone. There are spots around town that are much more approachable. This just seems like they have a staff that is too cool for the product. Beer should be approachable like Joyride. Overall, my review is 'meh'

I absolutely hate having to write this review. Pour Boy has been a 5 star liquor store to me for…read moreover 20 years. tl;dr - POS and card reader don't interface right, management sucks and refused to even investigate even though their employee corroborated my story. However, on April 5th, I needed to cancel a transaction because I used the wrong card. The register said the transaction was cancelled, but the credit card system put the charge through anyway. A couple days later, I noticed the charge had gone through, so I went in to talk about it. The employee from the original transaction was there and vouched that I tried to cancel and then did use another card, but the owner/manager that happened to be there at the time didn't believe HIS OWN EMPLOYEE. He said he would "research it" and call me. I told him he could fix it by just allowing me to grab the merchandise that the charge would have covered, but he refused. I checked in after a week or so, saw the same cashier (wonderful lady by the way). She said she saw the paper he wrote my info down on was on the desk, so maybe they were doing something about it. That was apparently wrong. The cashier admitted that there are times the card reader does not cancel transactions correctly, but the owner/manager ignored her. Current management of this place is a bunch of fraudsters now. I'm sad that I have to write a bad review as well as stop supporting a local small business. I gave them many chances though.
