I used work for this company, and I've been a long time customer. Having dealt with them for nearly a decade, on two levels, I can say with certainty that they are horrible on every front. Dispatchers are rude, drivers are reckless, cars are broken, and they're NEVER on time. It's nothing short of a miracle that Bucky's hasn't been sued into the dirt after the bevy of car accidents under their belt, and sheer lack of professionalism displayed. I used to love taking this taxi. Now its just a hassle. I call over and hour before I have to be to work and still manage to be late call at 10 because I have to be to work around 11:30 and they still mange to be over and hour when I even say hey im a worker. Tonight toopped it off I called at 8pm not even given a pick up time just and okay with a hang up I called at 8:40 got told a few more mins with a hang up I eventually called at 9pm and told them never mind. Take my advice on this one! Don't hire this people to to take to you your doctor appointments. If you have need to be there on time for your appointments don't use these people.. I have asked these people to take my son to his appointments, as each and every time they are always late. =( Plus they don't know what consideration is. So this morning i was driving down jersey Ave in Port Jervis going past Brother Bruno, and a taxi driver pulled out of Sussex street and made the left in front of me, cutting me off and almost making me hit them, i had to press on my breaks so hard and serve to the dead end road next to Brother Bruno by the tracks! I had my son with me too!!!! I honked my horn! There was also a passenger in the front seat of the driver and she looked so scared at how close i was too almost hitting them! I hurried up and grabbed my phone and took a picture of the taxi car and plate!! I called the number on the back of the car , and the woman answered. I said one of your drivers just pulled out on incoming traffic, i am pregnant and have my son in the car and i had to serve to another road to the side if i hadn't we would have hit! She has an nasty attitude and tells me to hold up and tell me to describe the car, i did. She said it's not there's! I said not yours???? I called the number back of the car and you answered how is this not yours !!!! She goes oh well it looks like a mechanic is driving the car, i said well they had a passenger and was dropping them off at the Erie by orange and Rockland ! She's just talking very mean to me and said well i don't know what to tell you it's a mechanic. I said listen here, i will call the cops if you don't take this seriously , i am the one who almost got hit and I'm pregnant and my son is 5! Why don't you take your job more seriously and have a talk with your drivers instead of pretending they don't work for you ! She goes I'll tell my manager and hung up!!!! Incredibly rude woman answered the phone and when I called back to confirm the rude she continued yelling. Have someone pick you up instead or just don't even come to Port Jervis. I've read all the terrible reviews and gotta say that my experience is the complete opposite. I take a late train from Penn arriving at 1230AM in port Jervis. I live just south of Barryville and this company seems to be the only game in town. My drivers have been prompt and friendly. The cars are a little rough... But they are fine. Prices are fair and as for the woman who answers the phone when I call ... Perfectly lovely personality and not a hint of nicotine or Newports. She has drivers waiting for me when I get off the train and if there is a problem she hops right on it. Give them a try. Nothing fancy but they get the job done. A decent review is nothing without some criticism. Howard Stern having wee man being seduced by a model on the radio was awkward. Especially as I thought of my wife or any woman riding alone at night with a male cabbie. My $.02 Also be prepared for car sharing. I needed a cab from pond eddy to the hospital and i explained to them that it was very important that i get there asap because my father is dying and that if it was a problem just let me know because i would have had a family member just pick me up!! But she said no problem that there would be someone there right away.. I even said that i would pay extra.. I recently used service after getting off the Port Jervis train. i had to wait awhile at the office. That was OK but while I was there the dispatcher and a couple of drivers carried on a conversation about drunk riders who had thrown up or urinated in their cars. I couldn't believe they would have such a conversation in front of a customer. Their service was my only choice but I'll figure something else out next time. read more

i've never written a review ever in my life. good nor bad. BUT I HAD to do it for this ! i recently moved upstate from the bronx. don't have a car and the transportation out here sucks. so i'm stuck getting a cab for the time being. this is legit the worst Cab company if it's not getting yelled at by a dispatcher with a very nasty attitude it's waiting for a cab for 30 to an hour. I agree with all the other reviewers about the dispatcher. Picks up the phone with an attitude i cannot comprehend considering that she makes her living from people calling in to request a taxi. Not only is her attitude horrendous but she speaks to you in a condescending manner that is just unacceptable. I WILL NOT use this car service ever again. Bad service. Unfriendly. Untrustworthy. Avoid giving them your money. Don't trust these guys. We were hoping to use them for wedding transportation for two nights. They showed up the first night at the wrong time and we didn't end up needing a driver, so I paid him a decent amount to make sure they still show up the next day. The next day the dispatcher told us they wouldn't offer rides any more. I'm assuming the driver just pocketed the cash and told the dispatcher we did not pay. They tell me they can't tell me how long they will be...yet they walkie each other back and fourth. This is a disgrace. This service is horrible. I called early for a ride into work and they "forgot" to pick me up and the driver was no where near close to getting me. Called other cab service in town and they showed up in less than 10 minutes. No offense to the drivers but it seems some of them aren't qualified to drive cars. One elderly driver ran a stop sign and we almost got hit. They also smoke in their cars which is disgusting. read more

This is by far the worst taxi company in the area! Every time that I call for a taxi I am told the wait time will be 20 minutes and I end up waiting up to about an hour to an hour and a half. It is completely ridiculous and unreliable service. Not to mention, the drivers are reckless!!! The very last time I took a taxi from this company, the driver was an hour late and he had another passenger in the front seat who was drinking beer heading to a party!! My heart leapt with glee as my playful shrew barked that "there are no cabs today, what don't you understand about that?!" Sporting a daring Saturday ensemble of a moth bitten tank top and 900 WATT death-stare, she was everything I'd dreamed she'd be. With the brutal cunning of a she-wolf, she sawed through my pleasantries and small talk with ease--expertly cursing me for my manic sin of coming to her office as previously instructed. After exercising an impressive symphony of profanity, she announced that I would never attain taxi-rider status. Not with JL. Not ever. With a graceful stroke of her hand, she answered the call of a driver, telling this beleaguered colleague that she was dealing with fucking idiots who couldn't understand her directions. A more sensitive man might have inferred that the finger she pointed at me or the death-ray eye-contact that we shared was an implication that I could have been the subject of her rant, but I knew better. It was a simple misunderstanding between two star crossed lovers that will live on in my memory if not in hers. I've been taking this taxi for quite some time. Whenever I call, an angry dispatcher answers and yells at me for needing a ride. Being as though it's a taxi service, this always seemed odd. Since there was no other taxis I n town, I had little choice but to use them. I always tip the drivers and I deal w them showing up hours after I called. Today, I called for a taxi to the train station to go to work. They never showed up so I called again to make a time call for the last train to the city. I called 2 and a half hrs ahead, they never showed up. When I called to ask where my can was, January, the dispatcher, had to put another woman on the phone bc she couldn't deal with "any more customers complaining that that couldn't get to work" I politely voiced my concerns to the other dispatcher but I could hear January yelling at me to get a car if I want to get to work on time. Well, January, that's exactly what I did. I bought a huge truck so if anyone needs a ride locally and doesn't want to be screamed at for wanting to be on time, I'd be happy to drive you for free. As far as the whole company is concerned, you would definitely have better than a 2 star rating if you got rid of the miserable, mean dispatcher who doesn't realize her job involves taking people places. It's crappy enough to have to go to work. We could really do without this horrible woman making us feel bad about it. I will never use this taxi again. read more

Worst taxi I ever used the dispatcher is so rude. And charges me too much money.

It is common knowledge among locals that this cab company will accept any request, but follow through by actually sending a car to pick you up about half of the time. I cannot count the times that I have been trapped in Port Jervis waiting for this company to follow through. It is truly a disgrace to the town. I doubt they even write down your request for a ride once they tell you they will take it. They don't even ask for your name or phone number. And when you call and ask when the car will show up, they lecture you on lead times without even asking who you are. You would be better off waiting for a smoke filled Middletown Jitney than these guys. Also, beware, they operate under several different names, not just J L (probably why they just shout "YEAH?" into the phone when you call them, rather than telling you who they are). If the address is on Pike street, I would be cautious. read more
