I definitely recommend if you're looking to get any hardscaping done! Jay, the owner was really easy to work with. He was responsive, honest, and overall a good person! We had called up 5 companies and all got different bids. Jay was able to match the price we had and give us a few arborvitae to get us to choose his company. His team was very respectful and worked efficiently; the quality of work they did was really great. The work we got done was not small either but they finished in very realistic and quick timeline. We used JM Landscaping to: - Build a 4 foot x 50ft retention wall, with blocks - Build a 5 foot fence above the wall - Level the area above the wall, and build a ~500 ft patio with paver stones (and some steps) - Supply top soil and mulch in several planting areas Working with Javed throughout the bid process as well as the construction was a good experience. In the bid process, he gave us a baseline quote, along with the cost for various options (we had some ambiguity in our plans). The quote was accurate to the final cost. Construction started 1 week after his initial estimate (he did warn me that may happen due to weather), and it completed in the 2.5 weeks he estimated it would. During construction, he would generally be on site in the morning and afternoon, allowing for a good communication channel throughout the process. He was also available over text/phone as needed. I could not be happier to recommend Jay and his crew. Jay and his team showed up on time, kept their worksite clean, and were always smiling and in good spirits. We have a 2 yr old daughter and they were happy to interact with her, were careful to watch for her around equipment, and we never heard crude language used around her (or at all come to think of it) which was a nice perk. We really put these guys through the wringer. We initially hired Jay to remove the existing grass in our back yard (measuring 3000sq ft), regrade and flatten the slope in the yard, and plant all new sod. As the project progressed we ended up do that PLUS a patio extension, planter boxes, garden beds, and beauty bark edging. You would think we stopped there, but oh no. Then we also asked them to work on the front yard rebuilding our front entry way, adding planter boxes, and resod our front yard. It was an incredible project. There were several bumps as the project progressed, including a several foot wide tree stump thay was buried and needed to be hand dug out for remova. Everything was taken in stride. Pricing was a comfortable, open discussion, as the project escalated, and we absolutely feel like we underpaid for the amount of work these guys did. We interviewed five landscapers and JM was the ONLY company to suggest reusing materials we had to save money. I appreciated that he had my budget in mind. I feel like the before and after photos have blown away even my own expectations. It was such a joy working with these guys, we were actually sad when they left. Worth noting also that Jay has come back twice, since the project ended, to fertilize and check up on the new grass growth, free of charge. read more

I was incredibly impressed working with JM Landscaping for every facet of my patio project I had completed a couple weeks ago. The owner, Jay, was always quick to respond by both text and calling. His quote was incredibly reasonable, and he was willing to be flexible in terms of adding smaller items to the project and was very upfront and honest on the price of each element. His crew of three were all easy to work with, communicative and hard working. They showed up on time each morning and worked incredibly hard for the entirety of the day. As with any project, little details and problems popped up and Jay was always quick with a call to talk out the options so I could make an informed decision. The materials used were of good quality and the installation looks fantastic! We have worked with a lot of contractors over the years and I can say that the organization and timing of material pickup, dirt disposal, etc. was all very well thought out and there was no wasted time during the course of the project. We were originally told the project would take 4-5 full days but ended up getting done in closer to 3.5 days even with our list of additional work which is always great to have your project done not only well but early. I also really appreciated how involved Jay was with the project, a lot of times you will see the owner at the beginning and end of the project, Jay was there every morning to make sure the plan was clear and everyone was on the same page which is always great to feel so assured of what is planned for each day. Our neighbors a few townhomes down had used JM and we really liked the work they did. He gave us their number for us and our immediate neighbor so we could do something similar. We were looking to move our fence together so we could have more patio space. Previously 6 years ago my husband and I did our first newlywed project and built a patio out of small pavers. Absolutely awesome. After a very upsetting experience with getting an estimate from another contractor, I was a little gun-shy. The whole process of ripping out my yard and installing all new sod and bedding went so smoothly. They communicated with me through the whole process, sent pictures, and stuck with the original estimate! I had a terrible deck off the main floor over the walkout basement ( so the deck is 15 ft in the air). These guys worked with me for 2 months while I tried to figure out what I wanted. Super helpful and patient. The First day of the job. the old deck was gone and the new deck was framed. Jay and his crew are absolute professionals - they're very keen to walk through every step with you to make sure it's exact to your specifications, check in on any concerns, and are very careful with each element of the process. My spouse and I had a gigantic unmanaged yard - that was SUNKEN, with no way to get in machinery. Working with Jay, we figured out a way to remove part of our fence, put in topsoil to make a ramp to get down their Bobcat (which they maneuvered past the few fragile things we had planted in our yard with the kind of skill that professional gamers and precision drivers should envy). They put in greatly expanded deck and new walkway (totally matching the style of bricks that had been there before), added three massive new planting beds (and Jay pitched in helping me move my older beds to a new safe place!), and turned that topsoil hill into a gentle slope for planting, ringed by beautiful slate boulders. People stop by and comment excitedly on how good everything looks - and we don't even have anything PLANTED yet! And all this work - precision, care, and special touches - was done in FOUR DAYS. Jay and his crew work carefully but they don't let it push out their due-by date. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend JM. I saw a couple reviews on here with one-star harping that they didn't get back to them, but seriously - JUST CALL AGAIN! Or email! I promise you if they're ever a little hard to get a hold of, it's because they're in-demand for their excellent work. We hired JM Landscaping to remove a strip of lawn next to our driveway, build a rock retaining wall and pour a concrete aggregate slab (to match our existing driveway). From my first interaction with Jay (the owner), I was impressed by his professionalism. For example, the 1st time we spoke by phone, he had already pulled up our house on Google Maps, so we could have a productive conversation about what we wanted. When he came out to meet us, had ideas to help us decide the best way to tackle the project. Right when we decided to proceed with the project (Nov) it got super cold outside. I was worried that we might have missed the opportunity, but Jay made sure to communicate his plan and he made it happen. He and his crew worked on a Saturday to do most of the prep work and to build the wall (in 25 degree weather with smiles on their faces), so that they would be ready the following week when the weather warmed up enough to pour the concrete. We really appreciated his willingness to fit us in (he had a large project going on at the time), and make sure that they were ready to complete the project as soon as the weather permitted. Our driveway went from 2 parking spaces to 3, we have a rock wall that matches another rock wall on our property and our lot is MUCH more usable now (the old strip of lawn was wasted space). Our project came in On Time and On Budget. My wife and I used JM Landscaping earlier this year to rescue our mess of a backyard in time for the spring and summer seasons. We couldn't be happier with the work that Jay and his crew did. Why is that? 1. We didn't really know exactly what we wanted done in the backyard, just that what was currently there wasn't working (steep grade, resulting in pockets of mud and water forming). We explained the situation to him and after surveying the landscape Jay came up with some great ideas of how to make the space work (which we generally adopted wholesale). He struck the right balance between advising us on what would work without telling us what to do. 2. During the project we changed a few minor things on them, which were accommodated with no problems. 3. The crew was courteous and professional. They showed up on time every day. They did their jobs quickly and efficiently. When they made a mistake (left a gate open which ripped off in a windstorm) they apologized and took care of it with no questions asked. 4. Throughout the course of the project, Jay would ask for our feedback in case we wanted to change anything. If for some reason he thought something should be changed (e.g., did some work and realized it would be better to do things differently for better results) he brought that up with us so we could make those adjustments. 5. The price was fair and reasonable for the work that was done. The work was also completed ahead of schedule by a couple of days. We were so pleased with the quality of the work that we added on an additional side project during the course of the main project. I contacted JM Landscaping to have my driveway paved with paver bricks. They gave a very reasonable quote out of the three businesses I contacted. Jay is very professional and friendly, and gave many useful advice on how the driveway would look after the job was done. I had a plastic storage shed on the original site. Not only did they relocate the shed to my yard, they also built a gravel base with cinder block trim for its now location for no extra charge. The job was completed on time and the site was left in a clean and tiny state. The crew was always on time and professional. As a homeowner, I work with quite a few contractors and service providers. After getting estimates from several different contractors to install a fence with a small retaining wall around my new house, I decided to go with JM Landscaping. Jay was very professional and polite, listened to what I wanted to do and to my "criteria" for fencing, paid attention to all my details, and offered suggestions for improvements or to save costs. Part of building this fence required the removal of a giant old "hedge" of Ivy along the top of the north-side hillside. Once the work began on this Ivy removal, it became obvious that the Ivy was obscuring a very unstable hillside. Apparently a series of old "retaining" structures made of various materials (concrete, wood, steel plates) had been built beginning in the 1950's, and over the years these had become completely buried by sloughing dirt. So rather than just adding to a failed system, the decision was made to start fresh with a series of terraced block retaining walls that would truely stabilize the hillside "forever." Jay and his crew were awesome - everyone worked hard, and Jay was always very accessable via phone or text. I was not living in the house yet, so had to schedule my visits around key decision-making points, and Jay was always flexible about doing this. HIs Crew Leader Fabian was also very helpful and able to answer questions when Jay was not on-site. One of my neighbors had special concerns about the new fence and the preservation of the Ivy on her side, and (according to her) Jay and his crew were always very polite and respectful of her concerns. The original small job turned into a very large job that was set back by repeated torrential rains. I am very happy with the results, and plan to hire them back later this year for some additional landscaping work. read more

They did an outstanding job! I had them created a custom patio and retaining wall and installed an French drain. I was having all kinds of problems with my back yard never being able to dry out since I live on a slope. They basically re-did my entire front and back yard. They removed all the bad grass and tilled up the dirt and placed really nutrient dense mulch and new shade friendly sod. Thanks to them, I have 2 beautiful yards that I can finally enjoy. I really appreciated how thorough they were throughout the entire process from beginning to end. I hired them because they took the most time really analyzing my problems and came up with ideas I never even thought of. I liked that they didn't mess around.
