The first Aire Serv HVAC tech that came said that the water pressure sensor in our water heater was broken and needed to be replaced. He gave us a rough VERBAL ONLY estimate of $2500 to have it replaced and gave us no guarantee about when they would be able to do it. Just said that it was based on the manufacturer. However, the HVAC tech recommended a water heater tech from Aire Serv to come take a look as well, as he would have a clearer assessment & estimate. The water heater tech looked at the water heater and said that our unit was from 2011 and over 10 years old (it's not, it was built in 2017 which can easily be seen on the inside of the unit). He came to the conclusion that the entire unit needed to be replaced, along with some other pipes that needed replacing. He went on to tell us a few estimate options that ranged from $11,000-$13,000. Yes that's THOUSANDS. When we asked to see a quote with full itemization, including the cost to us of every part needed and cost of labor, they refused to provide us with it claiming that if they give the cost of each item, it gets too messy. He also claimed that we had to decide and book on the spot, not giving us any time to think or talk about it. We made the smart decision to forego making an appointment to instead find other opinions, realizing that this estimate was an astronomical price. When the tech left, he said he would email the estimates shortly. Several hours later, we still had not received the estimates. I called the office to get an update on when we would receive the estimates and I was told the tech was still on jobs and wouldn't get it out until tonight or tomorrow. When I said that I wanted the estimates so that we could seek second opinions, all of a sudden the company apparently is able to price match lower prices. We finally received an email with the estimates at 8 pm and once again, all three estimates (based on different priced water heaters) only had a total cost. There was no cost of labor, no cost of parts, no tax, nothing. Simply one total number which gives zero information to the customer about what you are actually paying THIRTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for. The next day, we got a different company to come look at our water heater. Their tech said our unit was DEFINITELY less than 10 years old, it DID NOT need to be replaced, and he was able to get the new water pressure sensor within 5 minutes. He did all of this for $300. JUST THREE HUNDED DOLLARS. He said besides the water pressure sensor, there was nothing wrong with the unit itself. This tech was also appalled at the way these bigger companies try to take advantage of people. I would never ever recommend using Aire Serv to anyone. They only care about their bottom line and do not care at all about their customers as human beings. It's absolutely appalling and disgusting the way that this company misrepresents their costs by refusing to be transparent and itemize their estimates. Please do not ever use this company. They all should be ashamed of themselves for treating fellow humans this way. The photo shows the estimates we were sent. I have only cropped out my own personal information. There is no itemization or list of costs, just one astronomical total cost.

I am extremely concerned & disappointed by my experience with Aire Serv of SW CT…read more Currently, I am expending significant time & resources in order to find & remedy the damage caused by the Aire Serv service tech (perhaps accidentally). Background. Last week, my heating system experienced intermittent outages. A heating specialist from a different firm told me that a new aquastat controller might be needed (estimate $1400) or a new gas controller might be required (estimate $1200). This particular specialist was very busy, so I searched for other providers. Through the Anji service, I found out about Aire Serv. And my initial experience with Aire Serv was very positive. The service manager Rob was quite knowledgeable and responsive. The service reps were also friendly and helpful. While waiting for the service tech to arrive, I received two phone calls & a text from the service reps letting me know of the expected time of arrival. This was very thoughtful and appreciated. As mentioned, the original service request was for the replacement of an aquastat controller on a gas boiler. The Aire Serv service manager kindly sent me a rough estimate of about $1100 for an aquastat controller replacement and the Advantage plan. The Aire Serv Advantage plan is an attractive service to me, which added a positive expectation to the scheduled onsite call. I also felt that I might need a new thermostat and I discussed this with the service manager, too. The Aire Serv service manager made it clear that the service tech who would be onsite would do diagnostics first, then give me a proposal with options and prices before doing any work. This approach certainly made sense to me. Pls note that, due to working with other providers in the past, I had photos of the boiler from various angles. Incident. When the Aire Serv service tech arrived, he did diagnostics for about 40 minutes. He then showed me that zip ties holding wires that ran from the gas controller to the boiler had been cut. In addition, several of these wires had been disconnected & dismantled. He explained that all of this had been done before he arrived. And he explained that the entire system was in a dangerous status. He then gave me proposals for three potential replacement 95K-btu systems: Utica MGB ($12,235), Burnham ($11,970) and Utica UH-15 ($10,980). He also explained the 3% cash/check discount & the 18-month 0% financing. Damages. In comparing the photos of the boiler from before the Aire Serv service tech arrived with the status after his diagnostic activities, it is clear that, during the diagnostic activities of the Aire Serv service rep, the zip ties holding the wires in place were cut and several wires were disconnected and/dismantled (perhaps accidentally). Recognizing the damage that had occurred while the Aire Serv service tech was onsite, I mentioned to him that it would be inappropriate to move ahead with any work by Aire Serv at this time. I did thank him & paid the onsite call fee for diagnostic services. Damage control & worries. In the time since that experience, I have been reaching out to numerous heating firms & specialists. I have to get the damaged wires fixed & have the entire system examined in order to find and correct any additional damage caused (perhaps accidentally) by the Aire Serv service tech. The level of concern, worry & stress for my wife & me, both senior citizens, is quite high. The additional costs for urgent heating specialist services to find & repair damages is also quite challenging. Pls proceed with caution when working with the service techs from Aire Serv.

We went ahead seeing tahe no one from angie was even answering the request for a repair person. Roto-Rooter was costlier then I would have liked but the senior discount helped. I'm sure any other plumber would charge about the same anyway. Repair took a little over an hour and Jon explained what happened and fixed it. Very happy it has been taken care of. We had a very shaky toilet that another plumber "fixed" 5 months prior. Mike got down to the bottom of the problem and gave me updates on what he was finding every step of the way. There were some major issues that needed to be fixed and Mike did not take any shortcuts, he was very transparent from start to finish. Our flange was rotted and Mike removed the broken flange put in a new flange set in concrete. He put in a new toilet and sealed it with silicone. We were charged $145 and hour + the price of supplies. It was worth every cent to know that everything was done properly this time around.
