My husband and I have been coming here for years for the great service, friendly helpful atmosphere and of course quality products. Started by a local couple with one store ( Run n Fun) in St Paul and built into five locations, now branded TC Running and run by one of the former employees. Many of the employees have continued to stay working here even with the changes and the stores continue to serve the community with their Run Squad membership available to be part of a running group and have extra benefits. Also they are active in local track teams helping supply needed quality gear. We stopped tshopping for our yearly upgrade of our shoes after many miles have worn out last years. The service was top notch as always. Thanks to Mary at St. Paul store and Ryan at the Maple Grove store. If they don't have what you need at their store they will help you find it or order it for you. Thanks TC running family.

This is the best running store in Minnesota. This is the…read morebest running store in Minnesota. What Jeff and Bekah Metzdorff have done to make a retail store into the epicenter of running culture in the entire Midwest is remarkable. You will get it when you walk in. You need a pair of shoes and they'll make you run on a treadmill, ask you some questions and you'll be fitted for what shoe fits for you. From there, they have gear you want to wear running. And for those us (myself included) who aren't runners, they have comfortable clothing you will wear daily for comfort or for your own workouts. You go deeper if you're new to the Twin Cities and join a free group run, which is multiple times a week to keep you going. You might even find a date there, it happens oddly often. If you're one of those people who need to run a marathon, you'll see them during the Twin Cities Marathon yelling in the 20s mile area, getting written up in the local neighborhood papers for being too loud. From there, you want them to succeed, and you want to join them. Then you see their brand everywhere. In every race in the Midwest, you will see the brand name. And you'll feel good wearing it as well as you know it's a local business doing things right from the ground up.

Great staff and still has a great selection of shoes and apparel. What I learned by running myself is their fantastic shop runs that they put on several days per week and on every other Saturday, they have the assisted long run or "ALR" where there a lot of people, maybe ~100 all running different distances and paces on pre-set routes, like a 5K, 10K, 10 mile, etc. so you can pick a distance and pace and probably have someone to run with. They also provide Strava maps on their site so you really will not get lost. Best part is that these runs are free, they do it just because they love running and the running community. Kudos, amigos.

I buy a new pair of Haflingers every year or every other year and in the summer love their Think sandals. They also have a cute selection of boutique style clothing and accessories. I called ahead asking if they carried size 12 in both a specific shoe and just in general. While…read morethey said they didn't have the specific shoe I was looking for, they said they had a variety of shoes in size 12 so my folks and I made the haul up there (it was my birthday and they were in town from a few states away...they wanted to buy me something and I needed a few replacement pairs of shoes). There were several sales people on the floor helping other people. I went to the sale rack first and then asked an older lady if they had Vionics in size 12. She said no. When I had called they had implied that they had other Vionic styles in twelves so i thought that was weird. I grabbed the loafer I wanted and waited for another rep thinking she just misunderstood me. The next woman was more helpful, but the situation still wasn't ideal. I tried on a pair of Danskos that were an EU 42 but that is really just an 11.5. (Eyes Dansko from across an ocean...) If we're being honest here, I think there were no actual size twelves in the store, they didn't want to look, or they didn't know how to look. I asked her what she had in the store that came in a 12, but she wanted me to go around the store and point to individual shoe styles and say "How about this one? How about this one? How about this one?" Listen...I'm 42 years old. I know that 99% of the time the answer is going to be "no...we don't have that in a 12." I have 30 years of shoe buying trauma built up, I don't need that in my life on my birthday. So when I ask what styles you have in a size 12? I know there are probably going to be like six of them tops. And if there are more that is AMAZING but SAY so, have it written down somewhere. Take me to the computer and let's look up your inventory by SIZE so you can show me what you have in stock TODAY. (((It's why I'm here and not on zappos.))) Don't waste my time and make me feel like I don't belong. Especially when you brag about having extended sizes. And telling me you can order those Vionics? Not helpful. Because I can do that too. I'm there because your website made me feel like I might've able to try on shoes like a regular person...in a store. NOPE. Happy birthday to me. Sigh.

None of them were avid runners nor did they have any running shoe knowledge that I could absorb. I literally needed to look up the difference in the shoes that they had online while I was sitting there to find out any real differences between the brands or styles. When I was asked what I would be using them for, I replied and told them I will be training and racing a full distance Ironman race... to which one guy responded "is that one of those obstacle course fun runs". The next day I proceeded to go to the Saint Paul store to which I was greeted by two young ladies who were as ignorant as all the rest when I came to running shoes. Realistically, this is a management issue and a lack of training issue because somebody above them doesn't care whether or not they're knowledgeable about their product. Luckily I found a killer shop with very knowledgeable people back in Maple grove at a store called TC Running Company. They actually had me walking and jogging on the treadmill to understand my form and footwear needs. Pretty amazing difference between the two stores.

If you're not a runner, that doesn't mean this store isn't for you. But if you are, I think you'll find all that you need here! (Including those gross sucrose gel packets) For me, I'm on my feet all day for work as a scientist, and I've bought the past 4 pairs of shoes here, and I've had no complaints! The staff are very knowledgeable, so let them know your concerns (plantar fasciitis? More/less cushion? Over-pronated/supinated?) When it comes to the value, you get what you pay for. They're able to charge under market value, but they can still be expensive. With this in mind, they do have a generous sales room where shoes can be ~$20-40 off (I haven't been there often enough to know how the sales change, so I might be off). All in all, I highly recommend this place for your next sneaker purchase, athlete or not.
