He came the following week but didn't stay as long and told us with Covid starting, they may shut down, but will continue our training as soon as they could. Things started to open back up, but I called and called and Mike would not call me back. They never came back to finish the training so we were ripped off for over $800 and only had two trainings. Very disappointed, especially since Greg was getting our dog to respond. All I wanted was the rest of the training like I paid for and was promised. We chose Tall Tails because their advertising specifically states they train using positive reinforcement only and specialize in working with rescue dogs. These statements sadly are not true, as they used a prong collar on our fear reactive dog without our consent. During our consultation, we made sure that Bill (Co-Owner/Trainer) was fully aware of the issues our dog has, including his fear reactive behavior. Our dog was in their care from Dec. 29th to Jan. 17th. We received little communication while our dog was in their care, including not having a concise pickup time. Upon picking our dog up, we received him in worse condition than his drop off. His legs were coated in dry urine and his neck was raw and bleeding from the use of the prong collar. We were told by Bill directly on pickup night that they missed multiple days of giving our dog his medication while in their care. He even joked that they could tell during training sessions which days our dog wasn't medicated. When Bill did the graduation demonstration, we watched in agony as he jerked on the prong collar for multiple minutes and physically pushed down on our dog's shoulders, trying to get him to listen to a command. Of the six commands they say will be taught during their program, they only worked on three with our dog. Because we don't feel comfortable using a prong collar, our dog has made no improvements at home with these commands or with his behaviors in general. His separation anxiety, ability to take medication, and his leash pulling and biting are all worse. He now also disengages from training sessions by hiding in his crate. We were in so much shock that we left their facility without confrontation, not yet having seen the damage to his neck. After debating whether or not to move forward with their group classes, we declined and presented our discontent with photo evidence of his injuries. Having paid $2,200 for this program, we requested only a partial refund for the training our dog didn't complete in their care and for the injuries they caused. We have not received any form of response from this business regarding our request. We do not recommend this facility and feel very upset for what our dog experienced.

As the evening wore on my dog got worse. She couldn't easily open her eye. I ended up taking her to emergency veterinarian. Vet said she had superficial Corneal injury. Ended up with pain meds and antibiotic gel for eye. Oh, plus she has to wear an e-collar for a few days. I talked with Kelly, she said it happens, nothing she could do about it. In total between grooming and vet spent over $400.00. Go there at your dog's risk.

He comes back exhausted and happy every time! He is VERY sensitive and doesn't like to be away from us but he loves his friends at Furry Tail! We have never boarded him overnight but I wouldn't hesitate to do it here. I love that you can download the camera app and check in to see what the pups are up to. In the summer they put out all these baby pools and the dogs have the best time ever. Our dog also got his "fall fun" picture taken here and it was freaking hilarious. The ONLY sort of negative (but not really) comment I have is that some days there are a lot of dogs so it can be overwhelming. The outside area is massive so it's never overcrowded but our emo doberman has definitely been a little intimidated going in a few times (don't laugh, we raised him to be in touch with his feelings). If your dog is young, energetic, and still learning, as most adolescent dogs are, you should know exactly how this facility handled our situation. Our Labrador Retriever attended this daycare intermittently from 5 to 11 months of age. After one isolated incident in which he reacted poorly to another dog's correction due to trying to initiate play, the manager reassured us that this was not a serious behavioral issue, that he was simply still learning to respond to cues from other dogs, and that they were happy to continue working with him. We were never told he was on probation or given any deadline for improvement. Over the next three weeks, he attended only two additional visits. During one, he was injured. The staff present that day, as well as the manager in a follow-up call, all told us that he had done nothing wrong and it was through no fault of his own. During the next visit, I monitored the cameras and watched him be removed from group play within 15 minutes of arrival and brought out only three times for about 10 minutes each over more than five hours. When I asked why, the manager said he had done nothing wrong but they were "trying to get ahead of the problem." In other words, they had already labeled him as a problem before he had done anything wrong that day. Yet when he was eventually allowed to rejoin the group, we were told he played appropriately and without incident. This is what should concern prospective clients: we were explicitly told our dog could continue attending and that they would work with him, but instead he was quietly confined for most of the day without our knowledge. Had I not checked the cameras and called to ask what was happening, I have no reason to believe we would have been told. If a facility has already decided that your dog is too much work, they should communicate that honestly rather than continue accepting your dog and effectively sidelining them. After I raised my concerns, the owner informed me that he was no longer welcome. She then suggested that our dog was responsible for the earlier incident in which he was injured--directly contradicting her own staff and manager and attempting to make him seem like the problem even when those who witnessed the event said he was not at fault. Given that there had been no prior warning that dismissal was being considered, and that this decision came immediately after I questioned how he was being treated, the timing felt retaliatory rather than the result of a thoughtful behavioral assessment. When I told her that I intended to leave an honest review describing our negative experience, she became even more defensive and stated that she would fight it back. Unfortunately, after reading prior reviews describing similarly defensive and retaliatory behavior from ownership, this response did not appear to be an isolated incident. For additional context, prospective clients may wish to read the Yelp review from the Nazareth location dated July 17, 2019, which describes similar behavior from ownership. We also had broader concerns. We encountered 2 of their employees outside of daycare and overheard them saying that they feel overwhelmed and that there are too many dogs for the available staff. Our dog was injured more than once, and in one instance staff said they could not identify which dog caused the injury despite cameras throughout the facility. These issues raise serious concerns about staffing and supervision. We were also concerned by multiple episodes of kennel cough and giardia associated with the facility, and our veterinarian specifically warned us that they had seen numerous dogs become ill after attending this facility. To their credit, we were not charged for the day he spent largely confined. If your dog is a high energy dog or puppy who requires patience and continued development, this daycare may decide that your dog is too much work. In our experience, dogs who need extra attention may be blamed, confined, and dismissed rather than appropriately supported.

I specifically told the intake person on the phone not to put my dog with larger dogs. I stated that he didn't like bigger dogs under the section entitled "Fears". It was not entitled "Fears that should be challenged so he can grow." We were not notified of that he was injured, and we were only told after we paid. The owner argued and defended her behavior by saying she didn't know I did not want him with larger dogs because I only wrote that he didn't like other dogs. There is no circumstance where it is okay if someone does something that they know you don't like and then defends it by saying "Well, you didn't say NOT to do it". For example, "You didn't say NOT to let my dog poop on your lawn, you just said you didn't like it." Or "You didn't say NOT to eat your cat, you just said you wouldn't like it if I did." This is stupid. We are not living in a Monty Python sketch, The kennel owner believes she knows better than the dog owner, and because of her arrogance, my dog got bit. Now off to the vet we go, and we all know vet bills are such fun.

I didn't understand at first but then I dawned to me they only use paper records and only for one year. So basically every year it's the client's responsibility to create a new file etc. I asked Deb one more time if she really wanted to kick me out like this and yea, that's what she wanted to do. If you treat a client like this you are not capable of providing the care level I desire for my German shorthair pointer.
