I came to Joann's to get a few pieces of fabric, and it was my first time back since COVID. I was very impressed with the safety measures in place. They had an associate at the door monitoring capacity. They had associates throughout the store offering to help customers find what they needed. At the fabric cutting counter, they had glass barriers up. They also had tape markers on the floor for the checkout line. Overall I was in and out quickly, and found what I needed. Fun place but as a knitter and crocheter the yarn is usually overpriced even on sale and with a discount. There's pretty great customer service and the fabric is priced okay. Really I've been having better luck going to Dollar Tree for my yarn. I would love a class offered in the fiber arts. read more

Every time I come in the store, i am disappointed by their staff. They are often rude, avoidant, condescending, or generally act inconvenienced by any question. I try my best to never come here. I was in the area, so why not check this store out! Joann has everything!! They have tons of selections for anything involving baking, arts and crafts, sewing/fabrics, toys, seasonal decorations, and more. Although a little pricey on certain items but they also have lots of great deals. Wasn't trying to buy a thing but when I saw this aisle of paper pads, Omg! What I need for my scrapbook. There's sooo much to choose from (can't decide). They sell it individually or by pad in a discounted price. Washi tapes, stamps, stickers that's great for your BuJo (that too!). 4 stars because there were lots of empty/un stocked shelves and boxes in some places, scattered merchandise in different aisles. Joann is doing order online-curbside pickup. I just got some supplies for making masks. Order online and select pickup in store. It takes them 3 to 4 days to get your order together, but when it's ready you'll receive an email. Drive to the store, call and they'll bring it out to your car. It usually works, but one time I arrived and called many times over 30 minutes and no one ever answered. I wish you the best of luck if you try. This location has never had the greatest service and it seems to have continued into Covid times. read more

You're going to laugh when I tell you the number one reason I go to this store. Apart from cakes, I mean. That's not so bad. I know it's a fabric store but I do buy cake making supplies there a lot. More than anything though, my number reason for going to Joanne's is... soap. Seriously, their dollar soap is my number one reason for going. They have a bunch of really nice smells and then you don't have the same ones that everyone else has. I always get compliments on them too! There are plenty of other reasons to go there. Yarn and knitting supplies are another big reason. Hand embroidery supplies too. The coupons are annoying. I won't lie. But they'll at least take competitor coupons so between A. C. Moore, Michael's, and Joanne's there's usually a coupon. Would be nice not to have to mess around with that. This company is in serious need of new ownership. Part of the beauty of Yelp is that you get to send these messages and to hope, hope, hope... that it does not fall on deaf ears. The store itself is well stocked and diverse. They have sections of the store to cater to whatever creative whim you're there to indulge. You can create glittery masterpieces, decorate award-winning cakes, make jewelry, or boondoggle with kids to name a few. Seriously. How awesome was boondoggling? Not sure if that is a verb, but it is now! Jo-Ann Fabrics is precisely the type of store that grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and dudes can all come to and find something to enjoy. Or they could, if Jo-Ann would get their act together. First off, the prices are high. The intention seems to be that people use a coupon to buy anything. That's fine. However, they make the process so mind-numbingly arduous and arbitrary that it is impossible to predict the total before you get to the checkout aisle. The three types of pricing (all with their own coupons) which are only good at certain times, on certain days, under certain rotations of the moon is ridiculous. They know that their store is frequented by old people, right? They can't read and decipher the fine print. I was just tagging along today. Wasn't trying to buy a thing. Just looking at those coupons made me not want to. I'd suggest an amnesty day when the normal people who don't have time for that nonsense can do their shopping. read more

I placed an online order for 12 skeins (packages) of yarn; each a different color, one a different brand from the others. On the order date, 9 were immediately cancelled 1-2 hours, by the business's warehouse employees) after I placed it. That left 3; of which ALL were cancelled on Dec. 8 by the same department. I was angry at the first cancellation & now I am done doing business w/ joann.com. I highly recommend not giving them your business because of their carelessness. read more

Purchased fabric from Joann's. When I started cutting my pattern, it frayed everywhere, I mean with every cut of very sharp, good quality scissors. Returned to Joanns for exchange and was told since the fabric had been cut, it can not be returned or exchanged. There should be a notice of that policy posted somewhere in the store or mentioned by the employees there before cutting the material. Love it at Joanne's. I never go there without a coupon. I mostly buy things for cake and cookie decorating. They have a great selection of Wilton products. I would have to say that most times I just go in with my coupon and buy one thing. Even if the line is long at the registers, it goes really quickly. I only had 15 mins at this place but I was in heaven!!! The craft store was huge! I couldn't go to all the sections and just went to my mothership scrapbook section. But did get a quick glance on route to my paper section. Huge selection for fabrics/sewing. There was so much stuff at the store...and hello... practically cheap since prices in Canada are ridiculously inflated. Omg what to buy... there was only 15 mins! Luck was on my side as some things in the scrapbook section was 40% off. Ended up purchasing 2 Martha Stewart snowflake punches (approx. $7USD each) which would've likely been doubled after tax in Canada. Sweet deal! It's a chain, yes, but the workers are genuine and helpful. I'm just trying to get into sewing, so I was able to speak with the sales ladies in the back and worked out a refurb purchase of a Kenmore sewing machine. Since I bought it through Jo-Ann, I get a free beginners sewing class to learn how to use the machine and it comes with a year warranty. The instructor, Bonnie, was very helpful and had a lot of knowledge of sewing machines, as she used to be in service repairs for Singer. The other workers and cashiers are fun too. They let you do your thing, but are quick to help out when you ask. If they're busy with another customer, they let you know and then give you undivided attention when they wrap up helping the personal before you. The store itself is dated and could use a facelift, but that's to be expected in chains that have been around for years. They at least have always had what I've been looking for! read more

There is a wonderfully cute selection of fabric, though the prices are high for someone looking to do a project. Friend tried buying Halloween fabric and even out of season, they wanted $10 a yard. Waited in line at the cutting table only to have a customer cut in front because she "had a ticket" despite no prior customers having one. (Is it too simplistic to have a first come, first served system in place? Not blaming the company here, but the employee encouraged this behavior.) Kept calm, but the employee did not and had a very negative attitude toward me and my friend. Overall not the friendly vibe I'd want to find at a craft store, but being the only real fabric store in the area (because Walmart's selection is beyond piddly) it makes do. Probably okay for regulars, but I'll put on my thicker skin next time. read more

Pros: Associates are willing to help you find items in the store, give suggestions on your projects, and answer any questions you have. Aside from the end of my visit today, when my cashier was quite impersonable and short (attitude not stature), I've always had a pleasant experience. Signing up for emails and texts are fantastic because there is always a coupon. I use coupons on everything. Another tip is to visit at the end of the season for decorations. You'll find clearance decorations from the previous season and new decorations come in very cheap on sale for the next season. Cons: Sometimes you'll grab the last of a particular item and you'll find that it's not restocked for quite some time. Also, waiting in line can be very long, and the tunnel of fixtures that the line forms in will seem to close in around you the longer you wait, especially if you have kids (this is normally when my kids will melt down, surrounded by people and there's no place to turn around!) I wish their scanners would pick up on the mobile coupon barcodes better. Half the time the scanner will read my phone fine, but the other half of the time, the associate will have to type in the entire number, like 30 digits. All-in-all, this is a nice store with lots of selection and friendly associates. I have been and will continue to be a regular customer. read more

I just attended a cricut class at Joann Fabrics in Amherst NY.The class was taught by Gwen, a very capable, experienced "cricutter" The classroom was large, comfortable and well lit. There was plenty of room to spread out our supplies. Gwen was very friendly and patient. She worked closely with us giving step-by-step instructions. I came away with a much better understanding of the capabilities of this awesome machine!! I recommend you take the time to attend this class. It's a pretty decent Joann's. They're fairly well-stocked most of the time. There's not a lot you can write in a review here that may not be outdated soon. Stock comes and goes, hobbies and trends come and go. The company is always changing up their coupon policies (and jacking up regular sticker prices to offset the sales and coupons) and layouts, etc. The only thing constant I can say about this location is that the bathroom is absolutely DISGUSTING. Clearly a man designed the layout because it's completely impractical (think large gaping spaces in the doorways and stall walls, no purse hooks, etc). It's also never clean, always reeks, and is way too small for a store that's frequented by 99% women. CLEAN UP THE BATHROOM PROBLEMS! read more

Jo-Ann Fabrics is one of the only retailers in Buffalo, where you can get such an array of fabric at a great cost. They have everything here, from vinyl (if you must) to Waverly to velvets. I'm reupholstering one of my chairs, and came here to inspire myself for my choice of color and material. I surely was inspired, and I am looking forward to my next project that I can start here as well. They also have home decor, nice silk flowers, and beading. I feel at home here.... that's coming from the bottom of my old soul scarf knitting animal loving spirit. I can always find something I can talk myself into buying from JoAnn! They have the cutest home décor for holiday seasons, and great DIY idea booklets. The app is a MUST have; it gives coupons for 40-60 percent off regular priced items, 20 percent off total purchases, free classes and huge discounts on framing purchases. To be honest, things are ALWAYS on sale here, so its hard to find items that aren't. But with that being said, its also very hard to leave the store empty handed. Even if the only full priced things you find is that 99 cent Mickey Mouse scrapbook paper you probably won't ever use.... there are usually coupons to make it even cheaper. From baking, to décor, ribbon, fabric, card-making, scrapbooking, floral .etc... There's something for everyone. Its not just a store full of elderly women who like to knit. The store is very clean since its recent update, and fairly organized. Most employees know what they are talking about and are available to help. There have been times when I climb the "employee-only" ladder to reach the stock shelves and can't find anyone, but that might just be because I'm impatient and a rebel, who knows. read more

Done with this place. I had a sewing machine that needed repair and was told by a Joanne employee that they don't open until 10 (it was 9:15). The sewing machine employee could have acknowledged my presence. So I shopped for 45 min then approached the sewing machine lady who curtly told me it would cost $99 just to look at my machine. It was obvious I was interrupting her busy day (no other customers). Joanne's prices are inflated then discounted so you think you're getting a bargain. I love Joann Fabrics, especially this location. It's really the only place you can get such a wide array of fabric at affordable prices. Yes, you do have to use their coupons and mind their sales, but it's worth it. If you are a crafter, it behooves you to learn their coupon and sale system because you can get things here for online prices or better without having to pay and wait for shipping. I have a sewing business and I am able to buy my materials for wholesale prices or less just with coupons and sales. Jo-Ann Fabric has lots of great things, home decor, wreaths, arts and craft projects, seasonal decor, picture frames, vases, fake flowers and more. Their prices are on the expensive side, they usually have discounts but even the discounts aren't great deals. I recommend downloading the Retail Me Not application on your phone because they usually have a 40% off one regularly priced item coupon or a 25% off your entire purchase coupon. This store is exceptionally large and they have a decent clearance rack in the back right corner of the store near the restrooms. One issue I have is that there are rarely people walking around the store assisting you and the line is usually very very long. I have found myself waiting over 30 minutes just to get to the cash register here. They are pretty lenient with their return policy as long as you have the receipt with you. I recommend coming here to buy holiday decorations after the holiday has passed as they usually mark their decor 70% off afterwards. read more

Being an artist and craftsperson, this location has a great selection of supplies. My pet peeve is the awful coupon gimmick this chain adopted years ago. The mark-ups on decorations and material are laughably high. Today I saw an artificial pumpkin. Realistic in shape but not painted as nice as it could be, but I thought I could touch it up. I figured it would be about $10 or $15 Nope: the tag was $49.99! You need to clip or download their weekly coupons. Usually 40% off one item as long as it is not on sale that week. Even at 40% off that plastic pumpkin still would be overpriced at $30. If you want to buy a few yards of material for a project, don't bother without their coupon. It would be cheaper to buy something already made. read more

Great for crafts unless you're trying to work with yarn. No one knows anything about it there. They're carrying so much "Premier" brand now that other brands are vanishing, and it's not premier quality. You're better off going to a Local Yarn Shop where the owner knows their yarn, they offer classes (private and small group) and other people gather to work on projects. read more

I ordered an item online (a zipper repair kit) but it did not help me fix the problem. I called the local store and asked if I could return an item to the store that I purchased online. They said no; they don't do that. So if I use my return shipping label, they will charge me $5 to return an item that cost me $7. That stinks. read more

I am compelled to write a review in defense of this Joann's! If you've never been to a Joann's, it's a big box craft store, somewhat like hobby lobby or michael's, with a focus on sewing. It has a big variety of low to mid priced fabrics and some expensive upholstery/curtain fabrics. It's my go-to stop for sewing and basic home craft supplies (unless you want paints or drawing-related supplies, then go to Hyatt's or Michael's). There's always a 40-50% off coupon you can get on your phone of any non sale item. If you're the type of person who feels ripped off if you miss ANY coupon, this place could definitely be very frustrating for you. The cutting line for fabrics usually takes 5-10 minutes, so don't come in a rush if you're hoping to pick out fabric. They always have a good section of fabrics on clearance too. You can get some things on line cheaper, but then consider the expense, time and environmental impact of having a tiny object shipped to you. I can't justify shipping a 1$ spool of thread or sewing needles. You can usually find someone to help you with a bit of hunting, but holiday season means Joann's will be a busy madhouse EVERY DAY, so keep that in mind! read more
