Don't usually leave negative reviews for a business but after my checkout experience here, I felt compelled to. I gave them my phone number to look up an account which for whatever reason didn't bring up my Joann's account. Not a big deal, I offered to give my email instead. The register person said they weren't able to look it up that way. I asked if they were sure because I'd done it in the past. After an awkward convo, we didn't find my account. Again - not a huge deal. What really bothered me was the person immediately leaving the register to tell a coworker "that customer was so rude" which I overheard. Customer service can be an annoying job but not insulting customers within earshot is a bare minimum. Will be unfortunately shopping elsewhere as I now feel very uncomfortable in this store. read more

Each of my last few visits has been wonderful. Every employee to whom I've spoken has been friendly and helpful. While I've experienced low supplies of some things I've wanted to buy, I've discovered that it's apparently a supply issue--those items aren't presently in other stores either. Beyond that, it's always easy to find what I need here. This is so nice! read more

Terrible service! I have never, ever received such poor service. Today's experience at this store was distressing, disturbing and disappointing. Needing batting, we asked 2 employees for assistance. They turned up their noses at the idea. After struggling to the cutting table with a huge bolt of batting, we were loudly chastised for bringing one that didn't have a price tag. When asked for the actual width of the batting the associate balked at measuring it for us. Seriously. I do not understand the model for Joann's stores...rude staff, dirty stores, and poor management. Miss this particular site if you value your sanity. read more

It's a great resource and go-to for Boulder. Between Joann's and Michael's and online options at both stores, you can get pretty much all the basics for sewing and crafts. Pattern selection is good too. Fabric selection could be better but I always find something if I look hard enough. Value is good and online coupons are really helpful. Use the app for discount codes. They're great! The online classes look interesting. Shopping online with in-store pick-up is very good, so far. Customer service at check out is excellent. In-store service is hot and cold. Some employees are friendly, helpful, know their inventory, and are knowledgable and others are rude and appear to be purposefully unhelpful. Others just flat out don't know the store or anything about crafts or sewing which I find quite odd. I just read Joann's filed for Chapter 11. I truly hope the store doesn't close but rather focuses more on a stronger customer service model and employee training because this is a very needed resource for the crafty folk of Boulder and I would hate to see it go. read more

I occasionally need sewing items and do check here. I get certain basics here though there is a better place in Boulder for really nice fabrics. Some staff are very helpful but it is often difficult to get someone. The biggest flaw in their structure is the lack of regular staff at the checkout registers. This store also has as much floor space dedicated to craft supplies and novelty goods as it does to fabric and sewing supplies. The store is pretty messy most of the time. read more

I have been to several Joann stores around the country. The Boulder location is the worst I have seen. It is dirty and messy with poor organization and selection. My OCD nature cannot stand going in there. The management needs to make sure the employees are keeping it clean and tidy. Waste of my time & fuel. They used to carry a nice selection of heavier fabric, similar to light weight upholstery for home décor. Great downturn, cheap fabric or outrageously expensive. How I long for the days of Hancock's fabric, wide selection, variety of prices/quality. Now JA's is struggling after the monopoly of this chain. Update. Since I complained on their page, Joann's has been messaging me privately with what initially they said was, "to resolve my issue". After 2 days of going back and fourth they told me there was nothing they could do without more info. Now let me just explain... I gave them all the info they asked for. They asked for 3 things. Picture of my receipts, which I sent them. Which coupons exactly I tried to use that would not work, and I sent them every one in a picture as well. And third was they wanted to know what cashier said why they were not valid, which I also typed out and explained to them. Again; Joann's unfortunately is a joke. And their customer service is not to actually resolve anything, just try and convince you they care but it's all your fault consumers! read more

I generally dislike Jo-Anns. Much in the same way I dislike Walmart. But in all honesty, I consider this store the 9th circle of hell. Apparently there is no other fabric store in Boulder (!!!), so when I can't haul myself down to an independent store in Denver, I end up here. Yes, they have the basics, a small (and boring) selection of patterns, tacky fleece patterns for college girls who need a quick costume, and cheapo holiday wares. But, seriously, not only is this place incredibly disorganized, dirty, falling apart.. but the staff doesn't really know what they're talking about. Not to mention the absurdity of their promotional "sales", which require coupons be printed from your home computer, and only discount the things you didn't really want to buy anyway. Gah. This isn't the worst JoAnn's I've been to, but that's mainly because the aisles are farther apart, they keep the floor cleared, and there's no weird, funky smell. Selection is kind of minimal in terms of decorative pieces and floral. I walked back and forth for a minute or two thinking I was missing an aisle of beads, but no, their selection really is that tiny. Still, it's good for basics, and of course they have some fantastic sales. I'm just grateful to have one this close. It's certainly the weirdest JoAnn's I've been in, and I've finally come to the conclusion that it's the customers. If you like to eavesdrop on people, this is your place, because you can hear conversations all the way across the store. And there are some bizarre conversations. A lot of it is totally inane chatter by groups of young people that make me wonder if they're just talking to make noise, because there's certainly no point to their conversation. So, if you do shop here, don't have any private conversations. read more

This place is where nightmares come from. I just got a sewing machine and I've been working with a 9 year old girl on some projects. We are beginners to say the least and this little girl is so jacked on what she's making. Our first experience we asked a question and the saleswomen hastily pointed to the back of the store and said that what we needed was somewhere over there. Are you for real? We are the only people in the store, you could walk is there. The second time we braved the store, I was dreading the horrible customer service. Who knew it could be worse. The young girl was trying to tell Katie (the person cutting the fabric) about what she's done. Katie completely ignored the girl and looked like she was going to stab me. Perhaps this store needs to teach their workers a little something about customer service. The only reason why I'm giving two stars is because the selection is pretty decent and the register people are pretty good about telling you there are coupons on the app. I will do anything to avoid this hostile environment! read more

I don't think I've ever been to another Jo-Ann's but personally I'm pretty impressed with the stock here because it has everything I need. First of all, I absolutely LOVE the coupons! I didn't know about them for the longest time and then I finally heard someone talking about how they downloaded the app and so I did the same and I've been reveling in the joy ever since. We stop here for craft supplies on a regular basis as well as discount decorations and the odd piece of fabric here and there. But mostly for the crafts, which when combined with couponing, can be quite affordable. I've had good service from everyone and have been happy with my Jo-Ann's experience thus far! read more

I've been to Jo-Anns a few times now; always find what I am looking for and the staff is pretty helpful. There are great bargains, especially with the coupons. I came to Boulder from Sedona AZ, finding anything in that area requires at least an hour's drive, so I'm pretty delighted with this store being well stocked and in biking distance. (Perhaps I'm just starved for civilization and because of my previous home everything seems good, but, IMHO this is a great store.) read more

This is the worst Joann's I have ever been to. It is extremely small, and they never have what I'm looking for. It has taken me forever to find an employee to help, and they always either have no idea what I'm talking about, or no idea where it would be. I never seem to have this problem at any other Joann I've ever gone to. Also- I needed a certain color of yarn that I had previously purchased at a different Joann location, and of course this one in Boulder didn't have it. I had to pay over $8 just for shipping on one $3 skein of yarn, and it took OVER TWO WEEKS to get it! And I did not have the option to ship to store! I went here on the day I was leaving looking for a zipper to replace the one the airlines had somehow broken on my suitcases. I walked in and asked where the zippers are. The person had no idea they even sold zipper replacements/pulls. I was handed off to someone else, and then again to someone else. Eventually I was put with "the" person that knew what I was talking about. She tried to sell me a 5 pack of full zippers for $15, then I reminded her I only need the pull. A store that has millions of other weird crafty items has 2 choices for replacement zipper pulls. One was quite feminine and flowery, the other was a little weak looking but I was assured it would work. Needless to say, I tried to put the replacements on my luggage, one broke right away, the other bent a minute later, without even leaving my house both of them had broken. I had thrown the receipt in the trash, so I ran out, not lie the trash truck was pulling off. I went to return it today, 5 days after the purchase. After waiting I was informed that since I don't have a receipt, they will only give me 50% back since, "I might have used a 50% off coupon". I tried to show her my credit card purchases on my phone, but she was unamused. Needless to say, this was a $2.70 purchase, not like I was trying to return a $500 sewing machine or something.... I can't believe I can go to target and return something without a receipt and they can look the purchase up with my card, or a store credit if I used cash. I won't return, and if you're not a crafter I'd suggest the same, their antiquated policies and lack of customer care make it not worth the time. read more

I absolutely love the Park Meadows Joann store when I lived there. This store however is disappointing. Customer service is awful. Don't bother asking a question. They act like you are wasting their time. Also part of the store is dark and the shelves are rarely fully stocked. I usually try to find my supplies elsewhere. read more

I've never had a good experience in this store. The staff is rude and unhelpful. Act like they are doing you a favor by even acknowledging you. I called to see if they had a particular yarn in stock before I headed over there. Didn't want to waste a trip driving there if they didn't have the particular yarn I wanted. I was told that they were too busy to look. I asked to talk to a manager to see if he/she could find someone to look for me. She said I am the manager. I think she was just too lazy to go look for me. I will never step foot in the store again. I called Michael's after that and the girl that answered was very nice. Went to look for the yarn and when she determined that they didn't have it asked if she could help me pick something out that was similar. I stopped into Joann to peruse their bead selection. This store is very clean and has lots of room, but I was slightly disappointed with their selection. The staff were few but were always busy helping customers with questions about fabric or demonstration classes they held. The beads here are very basic. It is a great place to buy clasps, chains, etc on the cheap. I wouldn't expect to find any one-of-a-kind beads here. You should go to Nomad for that. read more

Not happy to see that the customer service issues at the fabric counter have not been resolved. Was treated very poorly by a no-personality, slightly abusive fabric cutter named Cameron. When I complained to the manager she acted very shocked. I also saw this person interact with another customer and she was equally not nice to them, so it is shocking that they don't know she's bad at the customer contact part of the job (which is 100% customer contact). I am new to the fabric store (my 11-year-old got a sewing machine for her birthday). Is this a thing? The bitchy fabric store employee? It felt like it might be institutionalized. I was extreamly disapointed in the store. The amount of fabric looks to be about the same as in the other store. Crafts seems to be what they want to concentrae on and anyone who sews still has to go to Boulder or Denver. The check out is a joke. Can anyone say return desk at Target. For some time, I've resisted reviewing Jo-Ann's, as I don't want to add a low review. However, they fail time and time again. The fabric selection is sub-par, but what really creates the one-star review is the customer service. Many times, I've asked simple questions (after a brief search for an employee), to be met with a flat, dare I say rude, "no" or a shrug of the shoulders from a woman who has probably had a tough go of things for a very long time and has no energy left for polite exchange. It seems that Jo-Ann's has the unfriendliest and/or most downtrodden staff in Boulder, save one woman, who is charming and runs the cash register (or, she did one day). She has a Southern accent and her name may be Caroline - if it's not, then perhaps it should be, as Caroline is such a lovely name, and this woman is a shining star in this gloomy place. I will make every effort to avoid Jo-Ann's in the future - I've given it too many chances already. The store needs a lot more Carolines. On a side note, the store policy of favoring coupons is wacky - why not just put a price on things and leave it there instead of offering constant false discounts/sales/etc.? read more

I have always liked shopping at Joann, but I have to say that today's experience is making me choose michaels Instead in the future. I get that there are many older employees but they were all incredibly kid unfriendly! I have two toddlers and we were looking for craft supplies and while shopping they we were met with many sneers and snark looks rather than friendly salespeople. When checking out the woman at the register said not a word to me while ringing me up.. Just watched my children as they played behind me.. The only thing she said was my total and then said "boy you have your hands full" no thank you.. No hi how are you.. Nothing but unfriendly judgment. These lady's know how to go above and beyond... I have a special wedding project to do and needed some advisement to make it happen and Silvia stepped up. She Listened and delivered without hesitation. This turned out to be a custom deal and Mary said they usually didn't do this but made an exception and put a crew together to get me taken care of and out the door in no time flat! 6- 17 yard cuts, at a great price and some of the best customer service I have ever received.. This will be my go to store when projects and craft materials are needed, customer for life and will send everyone I know!! I was in 2 days ago during a sale, the girl cutting the fabric was yawning and rude , I tried to help her unfold 6 yds of fabric, but she looked at me as if she wanted to stab me, she the young girl with freckles in the cut department, total attitude and blahzhe about her job she was definitely inconvenienced by my request to cut the fabric and very rude! Also DO NOT TRY TO Call this place, when I called, the person answered could not tell me if they were still having a sale, then she transferred me to the cut dept, then I wait , wait, wait, no one answers the damn phone! So I had to hang up, so I am still left with an unanswered and simple question , are you guys still having a sale? WHolly horrible customer service BATMAN~ , this place is terrible and just a nightmare to walk into. Furthermore, the customers are rude, I was shopping in an aisle with NO ONE in the store of 3,000 sq ft, and this fat lady comes with a cart to right where I am shopping , she parks her cart right behind me, and proceeds to bump into me with her VERY LARGE BUTT, and says NOTHING! Yet there is 3,000sq ft of store to be, are you kidding me? The awareness of people is getting worse and unacceptable, I mean I have a proximity bubble, and I dont want YOUR fat ass knocking me over jeeeez! This store needs to be demoed! read more
