I drove an hour and a half to pick up my online purchase to find the doors locked at 6:30pm. Their website, Google and Yelp states they are open but while standing at the door they posted new operating hours on the door. Several customers were standing outside perplexed at the rudeness and lack of empathy. I understand that for security reasons the door cannot be opened after "closing" but they arbitrarily closed apparently because of staffing issues. I could see my order on the shelf and they even went over and stated that my order was right there. For what? Just for the sake of being rude?? Do NOT waste your time with this store! Our last 4 store pickups showed items in stock online but yet some or all of the items were cancelled. When I got to the store for a partial pickup, twice I found the item sitting on the shelf but they would not add it to my order so I could receive the discount applied for an online order. Not only that, but on my last visit, yesterday, I needed an expensive item that was clearly stored in one of their security cages. The tag on the item even said see an associate for assistance. The girl at the register helping us argued me down that the item would be behind the tag if they had it. The app showed 2 in stock. That little lock tag would have done nothing to prevent theft so it obviously was stored somewhere else. When I asked her to check, I got a major attitude and she refused. Then I asked to speak to a manager and then the experience got even worse. Upon asking to speak to the manager she got on her walkie and told the manager I wanted to speak with her. Her response wasn't, I'll be right there or anything of the sort. She asked her why I wanted to speak with her. Again, with an attitude, she said, "He wants us to check the back for it but I'm telling you now it's not there.". She then proceeded to walk to the back without an explanation other than she'd be right back. Several minutes later she returns, without the manager, to tell me they checked the whole jewelry area and it's not there. Not the security cages, the jewelry area! I asked where the manager was that I had requested. "She can't come out here right now.". WHAT? Then it hit me, she had just been at the front register buying a drink and a snack. SHE WAS ON BREAK, so she completely refused to come speak to me. I had well over $100 worth of tools and materials that I had been shopping for over the last hour. I put them on the counter and walked out. But, to make things even worse for this store, a couple of days before I had to help a different employee find something she needed for her husband in her own store! In summation, not all, but most of the employees are extremely rude and unhelpful! They are not trained and have not taken the time to learn the store. That's IF you can find one. But, spend more than 5 minutes looking around and you'll certainly have plain clothes security following you around the entire store pretending to shop just a few feet from you. These issues start with the manager and have spread to all the employees. It's no wonder why even on their "peak" days the place is a ghost town. I will be placing a call to the district manager. My recommendation is that everyone in this store should be fired and a new staff brought in that can be properly trained. But until that happens, absolutely, DO NOT shop there or even waste your time attempting a store pickup. You will certainly regret it if you do. read more

I've had luck in finding the cloth I needed for several project immediately. The staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and so very kind. I always leave Joann's feeling better than when I arrived. It's my new adult playground and the other people there are lots of fun. I'm at Joann Fabric and Crafts weekly, ok, ok, maybe sometimes twice a week. Convenient location on South Blvd. and 485. Lots of parking at Carolina Pavilion. I recommend you make a visit and get a shopping cart as you enter. read more

Rude manager. Will not come talk to you when you request her service. Employees are lazy and not knowledgeable at all. Don't bother placing pick up orders from this location as they will be canceled for items not being available. Yet, when you go to the store, they are sitting right on the shelf and plentiful. They just seem to not care about anything at this store. Make the drive to Monroe location if you really need something from Joann. I'm standing in a line of pepole waiting to have fabric cut. The ONE worker at the table is doing a perfect job, but each customer will wait 1/2 hour or so BEFORE we go to the checkout line, where I expect things to be no better. Joanns COULD have predicted that a Saturday might require more than a skeleton crew, but I'm sure it's cheaper to let the customer do the waiting. it's CUSTOMER SERVICE, not CUSTOMER SERVE US. read more

Had a pick up order so I called to check just to make sure the letters were even in stock knowing they are hard to find. Rudely I was told that if I didn't receive an email the order wasn't ready. Knowing this I called to get other information like when does the trucks come in etc. just to know when it's best to shop at Joann's because I live a little far. The lady on the phone who I came to find out was "Trina" then says "mhmm, mhmm" and hangs up the phone after being on hold for 22 mins. After coming in the next day for the pickup order, I needed four letters. They were out of stock for one letter and I was missing a letter in my order. I told Trina I'm missing a letter and she rudely explained why she forgot to put it in the bag. THEN screams "next customer"! I ask her at this point where are the letters so I can go and find it myself. She points in the direction saying "over there against the wall". So I go and find the letter myself and leave knowing Joanns will never get another dime and a will get a return on this order. You'd think people working in a craft store would be happy and willing to help people with their crafts that's kinda the whole pint of working huh. No one in the store is really around asking asking to assist you but you can find them in the store. The aisles are clearly labeled and since we are in covid times, there is a barrier between you and the cashier. I just hold up my items and they will scan them. The store is neat and not overstocked. There are books on hay ever craft you are looking to start, get better at, and even master. They have coupons on the bottom of the receipts which encourage you to come back and spend more. read more

Like others have stated, this is the only location in Charlotte. I'm lucky enough to live on the closer side of town to it. Service is usually awful, and the reason I put up with it because I have no choice. On my most recent visit, I needed an item cut at the cutting station. I did what I always did, I took a number. When I noticed a line forming, I politely asked if numbers were being called. The woman gave me a nasty response to the tune of, "No, we weren't busy so I'll get to you soon." Apparently "soon" meant the order you arrived at the table, regardless if you took a number or not. Talk about frustrating! I can't give this store one star simply for the fact that they supply some items other stores don't and therefore I will be coming back. I have been working on a project that involves making three separate very creative outfits for a local photographer. Ordinarily I have local craft stores that I use for my projects as the stores have enough craft options for those projects. This one required many variations of sewing fabric. When I went shopping for the supplies for the first outfit I decided to go to Jo-Ann Fabrics on South Blvd. I knew that the store would have a large selection of fabrics and trims so I headed there. Parking: The store is located at the beginning of a very large strip shopping mall and they are at their own section so there are always many parking spaces. Store: The store is brightly lit, very colorful and full of creative supplies. It is well organized and shelves and overhead signs are well marked. The store is spacious and aisles are unencumbered. Products: I was very excited because I was able to find items for not only one outfit but also a good amount for the second outfit. As I went through the aisles I collected about 10 different bolts of fabric and proceeded to the cutting table. Now for anyone who has not purchased fabric at a store like this, you need to know that it is a time consuming process. This is true of any fabric store so to walk over to the cutting area, and see 3 people in line, I knew that there would be a short wait. When it was my turn, I presented each bolt of fabric told her how much to cut and the employee cut all of my fabric to my specifications. At the end of the transaction you are given a slip of paper with the recorded prices of each fabric. I took this paper, my other notions and went to the register. Service: At the register, again there was a line but it moved along at a good speed. When the clerk (Christie) motioned to me signalling that she was open, I approached. I handed her all of my merchandise and and the in-store coupon. She bagged up all of my purchases and advised $187.00 was my total. I inserted my credit card and immediately realized that I had brought the wrong card. Once a card expires and is replaced by the bank, it is no longer valid. I explained to the cashier that I would need her to hold my merchandise while I went home to get the newer card. Christie was visibly aggravated when I asked her to put my (already bagged) merchandise aside but I disregarded that as I just thought of it as her having a bad attitude. By this point I had spent 2 hours in the store and didn't want to extend that further. I live too far to come back the same day with evening traffic so I went the next day. I entered the store and headed to the registers so that I could complete my purchase. The cashier, Meg, was very cordial and immediately began to ring my purchases. It was then that she discovered that there was no fabric slip inside the bag. That was very curious since it was there the day before and we all know that fabric cannot be purchased without it. I asked her if the sale had been saved electronically and she said no. In order to purchase the fabric I would need a new slip from the cutting table. I became angry. In order to get a new slip from the cutting table, I would need to go around the store and gather up all of the same bolts of fabric again and then have the employee at the cutting table re-measure all of the fabrics and record them all over again. I did this during the two hour trip the day before. I was so angry that Christie would have thrown out my cutting slip but I really needed this specific fabric for my project that I did go and re-gather everything. It took me more than an hour to get it all done and in the end there were just two bolts I simply could not locate. Why you ask? The reason was because they did inventory last night and all fabric had been rearranged. It was also highly possible that the bolts had sold out between my first and second trip. There would be no way of knowing. Now all that mattered was that I could not get all of my original purchase. I finally was ready to go to the register and with replacement card in hand paid for my $160.00 purchase. The store lost money in that the sale the second day was less than it would have been the day before. I lost a great deal of time in having to do the exact same thing the second day due to a very careless employee. Very important learning lesson for me. read more

I recently decided to get back into sewing and am enrolled in some classes. I am ready! There are not a lot of fabric stores to visit, especially after 5:00 PM. I stopped into Jo-Ann Fabrics not expecting to be wowed. In fact, wowed, I was! I will be hanging out here regularly going forward. They have patterns, notions, and more importantly, they have classes! Classes are always a dream. This is where you can learn your way. A team member offered expert advice at the fabric table and helped me find all that I needed. I had to hold back from purchasing more than I need to complete one project. Another team member provided more excellent customer service at checkout. When this project is complete, I will quickly return to Jo-Ann Fabrics for my next project. I can hardly wait and expect to return late next week. I am so excited that I don't have to travel too far to reach my new happy place! Woo Hoo! read more

This store doesn't have a super welcoming feeling, and the employees aren't very helpful, but I'm always able to find what I came for - so A-OK in my book. I usually have a coupon (via my awesome coupon phone app) so that helps with the marked up prices. One thing to note for. Jo-Ann newbs - when you're getting fabric cut, TAKE A NUMBER. There's a little number thing next to the cutting desk, but no one will direct you there. They'll just let you stand there, stuck on stupid, as numbers come and go without you. I've learned this the hard way, twice. I'll keep going here, for specific needs only though. It's not a place that I would like to browse around and take my time, but when a tutu needs to be made - I know where to go. read more

Employees are friendly, But they seem understaffed and cashiers definitely take their time. Expect a long wait to both get your fabric cut/ticketed and then to actually pay. If you have ever shopped in a Joanne ETC, this store will disappoint. This store has a small selection of a wide range of fabrics- everything from quilting to Bridesmaid dresses, to upholstery. They do not have the large selection of craft and hobby supplies found at a ETC store. I was looking for quilt fabric and left uninspired ( usually not a problem), and with out buying anything. The fabric was all of low to mid range quality- but the colors all seemed dull. The store was really crowded with merchandise, but nothing I felt compelled to buy. read more

The fabric selection was limited...but what they did have was ok. I'm a crafter and currently working on my first fabric craft so I decided to make a trip over to Joann's. The store is fantastic!!! I had no idea that they carried such a variety of craft items since I have always thought of them as just a fabric store...boy, was I wrong!!! Although I dabble in all types of crafts, I'm an avid baker so I am always on the lookout for local places to pick up cake tools, fondant tools, etc. They have a decent selection of items for the basic supplies, but they really didn't have anything extraordinary and it seems that Wilton is all they carry. Again, it's ok for the basics. I was impressed with the overall inventory of items in there and I would say that every crafter could find something to add to their arsenal. Whether you're into scrapbooking, wood crafts, knitting, jewelry making, floral arranging, clay crafts, painting, drawing, or home decorating...Joann's has it covered! Then of course there's the fabric....WOW!! They have a tremendous selection! The craft that I am working on calls for multiple types of fabrics and patterns, but all in smaller quantities (1/4-1/2 yd). The woman at the fabric cutting table had her hands full with me, but she was good about it. To make matters worse, I also discovered the seasonal fabric clearance section and I went a little crazy. I've been enjoying my current craft project so much that I decided to plan for Christmas and Halloween, too...especially since the fabric was 60% off! When all was said and done, the fabric cutter ended up cutting fabric from approximately 20 different rolls for me. She deserves a raise for being such a trooper! The store and selection easily deserves a 5 star rating, however I am going to give Joann's an overall 4 star rating because of the prices...they were a bit high compared to their competition for many of the items. In terms of fabric, I noticed some of the exact same fabrics at Joann's that I had purchased elsewhere that same day and Joann's was $2.00 more per yard!! Even a couple of prints that were on sale at Joann's was still more expensive than at the other store. I also found that their decorative and seasonal items were pricey, too. My Mom and I spent nearly 2hrs in the store, but it would have easily been 3 if I didn't have someplace to be afterwards. There's so much to see and project inspirations at every turn. I will most definitely go back, but I will be sure to watch the sales and bring coupons. read more

Terrible customer service- I asked one question and was treated as if I was stupid for asking it. Also, the men's bathroom was not up to par with the clean atmosphere of the store. The toilet was disgusting and the paper towel machine did not work. I understand that things can happen, but i have been to multiple JoAnn fabrics and I have never been treated with disrespect nor had I ever had any complaint with the cleanliness of the bathrooms. 1/5 do not recommend. read more

What a complete joke. First time I went in it took 30 minutes to get material cut. No manager on the floor. The employee took a phone call for a customer, pulled and cut the item, while 6 of us just had to stand there with our numbers. Today I went in and there were 40 people in line with ONE cashier working. I just walked straight back out and emailed corporate. What horrible management at this store. The most unfriendly store I've been to. Every time I go there if I ask for help, the next moment I regret it.They all look that they are so busy with the world's most important task that you start feeling guilty to bother those important people after they glance at you with a school teacher reprimanding glare. The lines to check out are as usually slow as they help. Some items are overprice, so if you don't have their 40% off coupon with you, here you are then, you are overpaying 40%. read more
