Got there, was routed around the store, and finally learned the machines listed as in stock the past few days were not on the floor. They weren't going to be able to put them out until next week possibly. Maybe understaffed? I wasn't even trying to go to Jo-Ann's but happy I couldn't find the Michaels that I was really looking for. This was my first time visiting Jo-Ann's in years and I didn't stay long when I did. This time I walked up and down the aisles soaking it all in. The many different crafty projects one can DIY is a crafty man's dream. Although I'm not that much of a DIY kinda gal, I sure did want to try. Fabric, glues, paint, sparkles, trinkets all ready for you to create you finest master piece is at your disposal. This is probably the worst joanns I have ever been to. The stock in fabric isn't great, it's always dirty and messy. Pegs are constantly empty. The other day a piece of thread was stuck on my foot and the thread just kept unwinding as I walked. There is a creepy open dark room on the way to the bathroom that had a giant roach next to it. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting. Never cleaned, the soap dispenser and paper towels don't work. Clumps of dirt all over the bathroom. I'll be traveling to the farther away jo Anns from now on. read more

Good selection and has way more fabrics than the Joanns close to me since this area is more urban. Always get what I need and find some good bonus fabric in their red tag section. The only complaint I have is this store's lighting is way too dark and dim. I'm surprised the employees haven't complained about it bothering their eyesight. I've been coming here for over 2 years and the lighting is never fixed. Manger seriously needs to try to stop saving money and get that taken care of. There are no Jo-Ann fabrics in town, which means I'm all the more excited to visit one while mall-ing in the 'burbs. Definitely one of those places that if you drag someone not interested in crafts/sewing/decorating types of things, they'll be extremely bored and will ask you every 4 minutes if you're ready to go. However, for you crafty dudes and dudettes out there, you well know that this is crafty paradise. I mainly veer towards the fabric section, if the 'put together a project' urge hits, and the fabrics are decent. You probably won't find any amazing, vintage inspired/mod fabrics (what I'm usually in the market for), but you'll find something that'll work. They also have a good selection of sewing machines - when I purchased one (from another Jo-Ann's location) - they are pretty knowledgeable about the different options. . which is good, considering on the model that you buy can run you as much as buying a car. (Ok. That's a bit of a stretch. Maybe run you as much as a scooter.). They also have a good selection of holiday decorations. Gwen in the fabric section was rude and short and looked bothered when I asked her about a bonding fabric. She was not willing to help me and made herself busy while I was trying to look for guidance. Because she was very nice to an African American customer it left me the impression that she treated me like that because of race. I was quite disappointed in my visit to Joann's Fabrics. I will probably chose Hobby Lobby over them from now on; I have never had such bad encounters at hobby lobby, everyone is kind and courteous there. read more

They have great prices, great sales, and a good selection. The reason for the low rating is their online order store pickup process. As stated on the website, same day pickup if ordered by 3PM. I ordered some items yesterday around 2:45, I wasn't upset when it wasn't ready same day since I was on the late side of their window. But now, over 24 hours later, it still isn't ready. This has happened twice. I love the option to order online due to being able to double check fabric specs, amount needed, and be able to search their huge selection and what stores have what. But it's bad business to advertise "same day pickup" and not follow through. read more

I've always got a soft spot for Joann's in my heart since I great up coming here all the time for arts and crafts needs ranging from poster board for school projects to all my yarn projects and paints for my artwork. Joann's used to be a bigger store but it downsized in the past 7 years to half its size. I am not sure why it did to be honest, but I've now always wondered what was behind that wall of yarn and excess items near the restroom. Crafts: It's got pretty much every craft that you need. You name it and it's got it. Fabrics; This Joann's is more subjective to fabrics and needlework- heck I would argue HALF this store is fabrics and the rest of everything else is squished to the other half. And that's a lot of stuff in the other half. Seasonal decor: Always love to see what artisan and crafts that joann's markets for every season and its over priced things. I understand they are artistic and but 56$ for like a little birdhouse that was probably mass made vs something at a festival where someone made in their actual backyard for 45$ seems to be kinda of a ripoff to me at times. Variety of goods: Honestly for an artist, Joann's kinda sucks for trying paint varieties. I recommend hitting a Michael's or if you have some more time, go to Blick on Peachtree Street for REAL artist supplies for DIRT CHEAP prices. I think Joann's shafts the local artists here by jacking up paints and offering a paltry selection for those who are in AP art or who are artits. I recommend you drive down to Blick and your world will be CHANGED by such an awesome selection. Price: Oy, download the Joann's mailing server to get the 40% off coupon every week if you're gonna be a big time customer. Just sayin. This JOANN is a bit better than the one located in Northpoint. The lines aren't as long, but it's smaller and messier. Many baking items only have 1 in stock and certain yarn colors are often sold out if they're on sale. Example - I tried to buy a pretty basic circular piping tip and came here twice in two months and they still didn't have it in stock. The upside to this location is that most of the employees know what how to fully work the cash register and are extremely nice with returns, exchanges, and coupons. A downside is that there is still a lack of employees at this location which makes it hard to flag down an employee for help. read more

Its a good thing Jo-Ann's doesn't have any competition, they'd be sunk. There are never, ever any employees on the floor to offer assistance. If you need something on a tall shelf or have a question that's tough. The lone fabric cutter is never enough and it seems that Jo-Ann's goes out of its way to find an employee that has zero personality. Once you find the fabric you want you must take a number and wait around at the cutting table. You would think taking a number meant that you could continue shopping but they don't use a PA system or ever have a number board so you know it's your turn. I've stood at that cutting table close to 30 minutes before. Why not buy online you ask?? Because most of their fabrics aren't available online! I know right, hard to believe, isn't it? The have a "buy it online, pick up in store" option but only a couple of stores in the entire state participate in it. So you can look at it online but you must go to the store and search manually for the fabric. Many, many times, however, the website will list a fabric, and its available quantity, at one their locations but when you arrive they don't actually have the fabric. Their stores and their website are an exercise in frustration. I can only hope better options will appear in the future. Competition would do them good. read more

If there is a place where creative people die and go to heaven, this is it for me. You can toss my chocolate ashes on the steps of JoAnns. Now it isn't like I haven't ever been to a JoAnns. I used to frequent several of them before they started closing down like a speakeasy tipped off before a raid. I used to be on their mailing lists, requested their gift cards at Christmas even. But the selection became iffy and skimpy so I trailed off from them. They stopped sending me coupons and we parted ways. While looking for something to do keep my mind busy and my ass out of jail, I went to the craft section at Wal-Mart. I was lingering like a movie extra in the bead aisle when I striked up a conversation with a fellow Wal-Mart shopper. She mentioned that JoAnn's had a much better selection of beads for my budding hobby and suggested I give them another chance. Well, I guess it is true that love is better the second time around! This JoAnn's is the new and improved version of those sorry stores in California. Not only do they carry a great selection of beads and jewelry supplies, they cater to my every area of artistic expertise. Cricut supplies, canvas, paints, a framing department, loads of fabrics, craft items galore, seasonal, wedding, cake decoration, glass wood....just dern near ev'rythang! They had two for one specials that saved me some cash. I spied the scrapbooking and decorative paper stuff and made a mental note to go back. On the way home I realized that I had forgotten a few things. So I would be back soon. Turns out is is going to be sooner than I had thought because when I finally had some time to read the AJC that I'd bought on Sunday, I found some coupons and other stuff on special for the Veteran's Day Sale. FABRICS I came in looking for a sateen fabric to make pants for my ao dai. They have a few selections that I thought were very pretty, but a little too thick. I found a champagne like color that was nice and had it cut for 2 1/2 yards. Some of them don't have enough as they are near the end of the reel, or are dirty and have stains on it. I asked for a discount but they didn't give it to me. Boo...but there are enough color selections that you'll find something you need. CUTTING SERVICES You grab a number by the cutting station and wait for your number to be called. They are pretty good about getting through the numbers, but when the line gets long, the wait can be kind of annoying. Browse the store and they will call your number over the loudspeaker. Go online and get the coupons for the week before you go. There's always something and it helps on the cost! read more

This is the worst Joanns I have ever been to and as a business owner who relies on fabric I have been to plenty. My fault to give them a second chance because first time was almost as bad. Thirteen people waiting to get fabric cut with one cutter. The third person I spoke to was the manager who informed me someone was coming to help and that "sometimes they just get busy. " Finally had to leave after 30 minutes of waisted time with still no fabric. Definitely won't be back. Manager needs to call the Conyers manager to see how maintaining adequate staffing is done! read more

This past week it was like JoAnn's knew about the Yelp Masquerade...feathers and masks were buy one, get one 50% off. Since I already had a mask, I was glad to be able to take advantage of this deal with my feathers. Then I needed some rhinestones...and lo and behold, they somehow count as beads and were 40% off! Anyway, I come from a pretty crafty family. My mom and grandma used to sell things in craft shows before moving to Tennessee....well, they tried in Tennessee but people in Tennessee have no taste. They also had no JoAnn's up until a couple months ago. So, for several years while I still lived at home, my mom and I, usually along with my grandparents, made routine trips to the JoAnn in Kennesaw. Eventually there was really no benefit to driving that far, and that stopped unless we were already in Atlanta for something. They definitely changed something since then. The front of the store is all fabrics, so if that's what you're looking for there is a good variety of stuff..it is hard for me to walk by it without wishing I had a sewing machine because some fabrics just scream PLEASE MAKE ME INTO A DRESS! to me. They have a decent section of beads, I know jewelry making is a popular craft these days so a lot of stores have stepped it up. My mom and grandma used to do a lot of wood based crafts and that area was somewhat lacking. I guess when scrapbooking and beading blow up, something has to be downsized. I do like their own brand of yarn. It's not as awesome as Hobby Lobby's but there's a good variety of stuff. The brand is called Sensations, and when it's on sale you can get like 800+ yards of some yarns for $7. A lot of them are just basic novelty yarns but they're worth checking out. Heather provided me with directions to items I was looking for, and cut fabric for me. When I checked out, there were two cashiers working. I did not have to wait. I'm new to the world of sewing and crafting, so take this review with a grain of salt - but I think the selection in here is FABULOUS! If there are places with more fabric, I don't want to go to them - because Jo-Ann's already makes my head spin. I gave 4 stars instead of 5, because there's not much staff on hand to help. I had to take a number at the fabric counter, talk to them, go get my fabric, then take ANOTHER number to get my fabric cut. I circled the store twice looking for any personnel who weren't either working the cutting counter or the registers, and there was NO ONE. I can't believe that this big of a store only had 4 people working (that I could see) - not only because of the size, but because I'd imagine people new to sewing and crafting are going to need some help. But I could seriously probably spend my paycheck in here. I won't, though, because I might just end up with a paycheck's worth of unused fabric if I suck at sewing. read more

I wanted to explore more of the store, I could use a new crochet hook, but I was with my guys and they were less than thrilled to be there (because they aren't nearly as crafty as I). I have been shopping this store for about 2 years now. And until recently it has been a reliable go-to for many of my craft needs - until recently. I am somewhat frustrated with the store now and hope they are just in some sort of transitional state. I purchased a variety of yarns on sale a couple of weeks ago and as is often the case for those of us who regularly create something new and different, I needed just a little more to complete my projects. I did not necessarily expect sale prices, but at the VERY LEAST I expected to find yarn. As it is now, the yarns are spread over no less than 6 locations through this huge store, with no labeled location or even a clerk that could tell you where more than one of them was. I even talked to a member of management, who had no clue where the yarn went and did not offer to help me find it. When I finally pushed the point, he said what you have found is "probably" all we have. I know any store regularly rotates stock and product location, but you would think that at least a member of management would care enough to take the time to help you find what you need. As a result, I will spend the gas and time to search at least 3 other craft and hobby supply locations in the Gwinnett, North Fulton area rather than bother going to Jo-Ann's only to be treated with a total lack of concern. read more

I'm a raver, so naturally I need supplies to create kandi and costumes. Instead of going to my local Walmart, I go to this Jo-Ann's because it has so much more variety in beads and fabric. Also, the prices on the big bag of pony beads at Jo-Ann's is much cheaper than the bags of pony beads you can get at Walmart. I've tried going to Walmart for fabric before and have been left waiting for someone to answer the call for an associate to come to the fabric aisle. Today I purchased over $600 worth of material from this location. When I asked them to cut some fabric into 1.5 yard lengths, the woman at the table froze up and called the manager. The manager came over, stone-faced, and said it's new policy not to cut "individual projects" but only total lengths. Super unfriendly, and super unhelpful to those of us without tons of crafting supplies at home. If I'm spending a ton of money, I expect better customer service, or at least a smile and an apology. read more

The lady who cut my fabric was extremely rude. There was no one else around, so I just went up to the counter and she told me to take a ticket. Then asked what number it was and changed the "now serving" sign to my number. What was the point of that? She seemed very bothered by the fact that I wanted her to do her job. Be it looking for poster board for a school project or beads for a quick diy craft, this Jo-Ann's has everything you need! I have been coming to this location for several years & even took a cake decorating class here a few years back. I always find just what I need for whatever project I decide to take on. Most recently, I came in to find some trim to spruce up an old lamp. I had a specific trim in mind and had failed to find anything remotely close to what I wanted at the Walmart down the street earlier. However, a quick skim in Jo-Ann's & I was immediately able to find exactly what I was looking for. Also, the staff at this Jo-Ann's is very friendly and helpful. During my latest visit, I found an item that I was interested in buying but wanted to see if there were any more available around the store because it was a little dirty. One of the staff members voluntarily looked all around the store to try and track down any more of the item. Although she was not able to find additional units, I really appreciated the time and genuine effort she put into helping me out. Truly high quality customer service. WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HOLIDAY BUDDY? Jo-Ann's was once my "go to" store for holiday decor, but no more. Things have really changed and they no longer carry the huge inventory of fall items that they once carried. They had the greatest collection of outdoor stakes of anyone and I am so glad that I stocked up a couple of years ago because these are still my favorite lawn decorations. Although there was plenty of Christmas and Halloween spirit, Fall has been forgotten because it does not match the financial success of the other events. Bought 16 outdoor 10" red velvet bows for our community decorations. All faded within 2 weeks. Joann's would not give money back even with receipt and original packaging. They said because they were used, would not take them back. I emailed the company's customer service dept but never received response. Our community has bought holiday velvet bows from other similar stores, and the bows and the color have lasted years. Won't be going back to Joann's anytime soon. read more

Joanne's is a two minute drive from where I live and I can go there easily. They recently (within the past year?) redecorated and I must say it's an improvement. They have everything to cater to your crafting and sewing needs, but I wouldn't go there for 2-D art supplies like drawing. You probably have a better chance at going to dickblick.com for that, but Joanne's is about fabric and crafts anyway. Their prices are pretty decent, but they almost always have a discount on something. Mostly frames and sometimes on specific fabric I guess. The employees there are another thing though. They're...not that nice, let's just say. I mean, they're mostly middle aged women who like to gossip and talk to each other about when their shift is over--while I'm trying to get some yards of fabric cut for a costume. They have pretty good business so I always see them busy on the weekends, which is a plus for me because I like stores that are generally crowded. read more
