Store Size and Selection This place is very, very big with a strong selection of Korean groceries and everyday staples. What surprised me most was how much more there is beyond food - tons of interesting cookware, cooking tools, and fun items to browse. Produce and Freshness The fresh produce was top quality and noticeably fresh. You can tell this store serves a community that expects high standards, and the quality shows. Prices and Deals There were a lot of sales and discounts throughout the store. Great value overall, especially considering the freshness and variety. Samples and Experience The sampling situation is next level - way more sample corners than you'd ever expect Costco to provide. Sample sizes are smaller than Costco, but it's still totally worth it because you get to try a wide variety of Korean flavors. It felt like tasting little snippets of Korean culture as you shop. Service, Cleanliness, and Atmosphere Everyone we interacted with was so kind and helpful, and the service was amazing. The store was also very clean. Bonus: the music was clearly catered to millennials (late 20s to 40s), and it genuinely brought back childhood and teenage nostalgia. Inside Businesses (Restaurants, Salons, Etc.) We also enjoyed that there are restaurants and salons inside. Everything looked nice, and pricing seemed pretty reasonable. Why it stands out in Duluth Duluth has a strong Korean community, and Mega Mart really reflects that in the quality, freshness, and overall experience. Would we return? Yes - 100%. We stopped in here for a stroll...and the place was HUGE! This is another giant-sized Korean supermarket that even have a second floor. Not sure if it's better, but think it's bigger than H-Mart. I didn't take many pictures, but I did take a few pics of items in their bakery-cafe? Very impressive bakery! I bought these amazing Black Sesame Buns (forgot to take pics) to enjoy back at the hotel. I also found this perfect Saki set to enjoy back at home. MM is where Macy's was at what used to be the Gwinnett Mall. It's like a super grocery store but divided into 2 levels. They play k-pop loudly and the shoppers were almost all Korean speakers with some bilingual speakers. The first floor was grocery, store in stores (noodle sit down resto, hair salon, florist, prepared food stalls /delis, apparel) and bakery. Their second floor was only 1/2 open with kitchen gadgets, apparel and more. They have of what can be found at HMart BUT MM offers ABUNDANT amount of CHOICES! They had aisles full of ramens...probably over 50 kinds; over 30 different rices, many many many kinds of pot stickers.... I found daenjang that had only CLEAN ingredients that I hadn't seen elsewhere. Bought their kimchi which was hotter and spicier than Hmart's. Tried a fresh made giant mandu / 빵 filled with spicy meat. Bought some fresh veggies as well but I wasn't impressed with their fruits. The customer service desk was friendly and helpful. However, the prepared foods/food-stall help was a hit or miss. The food sample servers were pushy. Price was about 10-20% higher than Hmart. Parking was ample. Overall, I liked finding harder to find authentic foods and having more choices here. The ambiance was a bit of a downside. Extremely rude Korean women cashiers. This time I bought dumplings at the food court paid for them at the cashier. I then walked back into the store to meet my husband who was still shopping. The cashier ran after me took my bag and scolded me for going back into the store (I had a receipt and she clearly saw me pay for it). She kept interrogating me asking why I was walking back into the store with a paid purchase. I told her I'm just meeting my husband who's still inside. She snatched my bag took the plastic bag and handed me my receipt and dumplings. She said "no one ever does that why would you walk back in after you paid?!" What's it to her if I want to go in the store or not with a paid purchase. This place has a lot to offer in the way of Asian food and lifestyle. The produce and meat section was the most interesting place for me. The store is clean and well stocked. The prices varied quite a bit. For instance the pre made sushi was reasonable but some of the produce was more expensive than Publix. I guess if you have the time or desire to shop around then definitely add this place to the mix. I did not go upstairs but that is where they offer items for your home and some clothing options too. This is still the Korean supermarket I prefer over the rest. There's something super Korean feeling about this place that takes me into the world of my K dramas that I watch. It's not the prettiest market like H mart but the prices are the best in town and quality of produce is better than Assi. Zion market is a less known supermarket as well but Megamart is just humongous. It is located in the pretty dead Gwinnett Place Mall and it's a miracle that it's survived with decent business for the past 12 years despite how dead its surroundings are. They have done a renovation recently; new bakery called Basquia (read separate review) that has taken over the White Windmill there. The aisles have shifted around. Deals: You can find some pretty sweet deals hiding on the racks if you look closely. Megamart tends to put a scratch out on the original price and new price (sometimes CRAZY low) but they won't put up a sign saying SALE necessarily. I've scored instant coffee worth 16.99 for only 1.99 before bc I just browsed the aisles. There used to be an ugly fruit section but they've now spread the ugly fruits around sporadically interspersed among the normal fruit (makes no sense). Also join their membership and for every 30$ you spend you get stamps- I don't quite know what happens when you get all 10 despite doing this for 12 years but my mom says something about redeeming for gift cards the points, so I keep stamping. I like megamart's seafood and meat selection too- can't beat their 3 for 10 spicy seafood packs or fresh sushi/sashimi prices. Try to go around noon in summer to avoid food poisoning. The marinated meats are great for parties. Decent alcohol section with good prices. Their dried veggies/herbs section recently got bigger recently- really love their selection of dried veggies over other stores. There's also cooked food section too- their rice cakes are some of my favs but the prices have risen sharply in the past 2 years due to COVID and inflation. you can pick up Korean eats like kimbap and other treats to take home for a good price. Overall a great place to go if you want to feel like you're in Korea even if not the fanciest with good prices. It's still my favorite Korean supermarket in town. One of the last few businesses hanging on in Gwinnett Place Mall besides Macy's, this Mega Mart was worth a look recently. I was getting my car serviced at Ford across the way and decided to pop in for some xylitol gum I was sure they would have and just to finally check things out. I've been to Hmart, Nam Dae Mun, Hong Kong Supermarket, and a few other large Asian supermarkets in the area but never Mega Mart until now. One of the entrances was closed - not sure if this was strictly due to renovations and/or to deter shoplifters from ducking out that way, but in any case I had to walk around to the other side. There was a good selection of items. I milled around and found my gum eventually. It seems that this supermarket stocks more Korean items than other ethnic products. For example, I could probably find more Filipino food items at Hmart or City Farmers Market than here. I'm not saying they didn't have variety or diversity of goods, but it definitely was more Korean based compared to some of their competitors. They had several options in what seemed to be a newer food court. They do have tables to eat inside now, as I read this was not always the case. I would love to come back and try some hot foods. This was the first Asian supermarket I've been to that had more than one level to it. I went up to see the home goods section and found a cute ceramic cat soup spoon for cheap that I ended up getting. There was only one cashier upstairs, and even though I couldn't understand what I presumed to be Korean, she basically directed another customer and I to check out downstairs. Occupying the side of a now-defunct mall, MEGA Mart is an Asian supermarket in the middle of nowhere. Though the location is off the beaten path, there's parking galore and space enough within that Mega Mart can respectably put its ring in the hat with other major Asian grocery stores like Assi Plaza and Hmart. Inside, there's a lot to explore. Along with the standard produce, meat/fish, and shelf-stable aisles, there are two tiny food courts, each with a few tables. The one we chose had only two things on their menu - bibimguksu (cold, spicy mixed noodles with cucumber and an egg) and janchi guksu (noodles and julienned vegetables in a warm broth). We chose the cold noodles with low expectations, but I was surprised at how tasty the sauce was. The other mini food court offers a slightly larger menu of Chinese-Korean cuisine, such as jjampong, or black bean noodles. Those aren't the only ready-to-eat options here. A long table in the middle of the market offers all kinds of rice cakes, kimbap (Korean rice rolls), Korean fried chicken, lunch boxes, and even some traditional blood sausages. Around the corner, there's another dumpling stall that offered a variety of steamed buns (veggie, meat, spicy). We partook, of course, and found them to be delicious snacks as we wandered further through the aisles. It should be noted that all of these eating options are sub-contracted proprietors, so they'll each have their own checkout area apart from the main market. The largest ready-to-eat section is Basquia Bakery, who is a new tenant of the corner space. It takes up a sizable corner of the market and there's an admirable bevy of cakes, pastries, and breads. I chatted with someone who worked there (possibly an owner or manager) and when I made mention of the tantalizing options, he seemed apologetic. "We're still moving things over from our last location, so we're actually only offering a fraction of what we'd like to get in here," he said, gesturing at the (few!) bare shelves. There are a good number of tables and chairs here, as well as a small caffeinated beverage menu. Finally on weekends, there are lots of ladies offering hot samples, so if you visit then, that becomes yet another option for happy bites. They're clearly not playing when they call themselves MEGA mart. For me what makes them mega compared to their competitors comes down to the snack shops and their own White Windmill Bakery. The bakery is outstanding because it happens to have the best selection, even if it's not necessarily the biggest selection, and they have items that are unique, like the butter cream bread with toasted peanuts (YUM). My Korean college roommate used to tell me how she was shopping at Mega Mart every weekend after church for food, groceries and household items. I didn't really pay attention since I just figured it was far from Emory Campus and I was good with just going to Publix... or Buford Highway. But WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN?! It's more than just your typical Asian grocery store... the entire second floor (yes, there's a second floor) has home, appliances and clothing. I picked up a pack of 4 ceramic soup spoons there and they're super cute! There is one section of the store where they have a kitchen of hot food - with different options you can take out to eat. My favorite is the enormous steamed buns. They have a spicy pork bun that is DELICIOUS. They also have different stalls that make fresh kimchi, hot food like soups and rice dishes... for every Korean cuisine craving, tbh. They also sell JS Kitchen banchan (if you know you know) that is worth considering if you couldn't make it to JS Kitchen before they closed. Near the entrance is a coffee shop/bakery. There's also a food court, obviously. I haven't had a chance to try any of the restaurants yet since I usually get full off the buns... but will have to try them out next time because the restaurants all seem pretty legit! I wish I lived closer to Mega Mart than the H Mart in Doraville. But whenever I'm in Duluth looking for Korean groceries and items, Mega Mart is my go-to. read more

I used to go to H Mart for my East Asian goods, but I've been coming to Mega Mart for the past year and prefer it more. It's less crowded compared to other Asian supermarkets and the prices are comparable for produce, fresh meat, and nonperishable products. One of my favorite things about Mega Mart are the individual vendors that sell delicious meals. A charming older couple runs the Chinese food stall across from the frozen aisle. Their Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) is consistently delicious. There's another vendor that sells pork dumplings. These dumplings are so large that one keeps me full for several hours. I absolutely love Mega Mart. Mega Mart is definitely one of the more low-key grocery stores, compared to Zion & Hmart. It's not on the main roads, so one won't be able to visibly see it unless you're looking for a Mega Mart specifically. Mega Mart is located inside Gwinnett Place Mall, which is essentially a dead mall. The only thing that probably keeps that mall alive is Mega Mart. They are not as big as the Hmart in Duluth, but it is a pretty big grocery store that has everything you need. I noticed that Mega Mart often sells stuff that the other Korean grocery stores don't have, but it is the opposite way around too -- they don't have some items that you would find in Hmart or Zion too, but I do like going and seeing and comparing. They have a bakery, a food court (which actually always happens to be changing), a floral shop and other Korean stores too. Mega Mart, primarily due to its location, is usually not as busy as the other stores, so I like coming here for quick shopping trips! read more

Stopped in Atlanta on my way home to Tennessee today. My cousin recommended this place to me. I brought an insulated cooler so I could keep my kimchi cool on my 5 hour journey. I had my cooler packed with banchan and veggies too. I moved from Washington state to Tennessee in January and I missed not having a big Korean store with a lot of produce. I used to shop at Paldo World in Tacoma and I thought that place had a lot. Mega Mart was like a wonderland and I didn't even make it up the escalators to check out their houseware, electronics, bedding, and kitchenware. It tacked on and extra couple hours of driving due to traffic and my browsing time, but I know I'll be back. I read other reviews recommending the jajangmyun and it was delicious and only 6.99. I've been to Mega Mart for many years now. Situated in the practically abandoned Gwinnett Place Mall, Mega Mart is the only reason we venture to this area of Duluth. As such, parking is plentiful. Conveniently located inside Mega Mart is White Windmill, located to the left when you enter through the front entrance. This grocery store has a second mall entrance too with two cashiers. Mega Mart is comparable to H-mart and Jusgo. The inside is relatively clean compared to Great Wall and bigger than Zion Market. They have a prepared food area in the middle of the store, including kimbap and fresh dumplings! Near the mall entrance cashiers, you'll find Shanghai Dumplings priced at $1.99 each. There are three types: Red bean, Mild and Spicy. I highly recommend the spicy one. The dumpling skin is very fluffy and not too thick. The meat is plentiful and makes this a really tasty snack. The service I've received here is pretty good. Never any issues here. Ice buckets are located to the left of the customer service desk in case you need them. They have a rewards program -- make sure you sign up for it! Overall, it's a solid market. If you love dumplings, I highly recommend coming in and checking them out! read more

Recently came here to stock up on samgyeopsal () for a long weekend trip. The meat department manager was very friendly and the 25 pounds of samgyeopsal was a really good price. The pork was delicious! Everyone on the trip couldn't stop raving about how great it was. I also bought kimchi and ssamjjang () and they were good as well. Went here as a regular dude who only speaks English, really nice selection and there still accommodations made. I enjoyed the Yujacha tea by the drink bar, absolutely delicious. I was not the biggest fan of the sweet red bean filling for dessert foods, however that's just a cultural thing. The clothing is all just shoddy quality stuff that's all over the place. I passed by this once not knowing it was a giant Korean market. Word of mouth sent me here and it's overall my favorite Korean market. They have so much of everything, almost too much. They have everything you need, from the bakery when you walk in, to fruits and vegetables, meat, seafood, frozen food, packaged goods, you name it. While I think the Duluth H Mart has a better food court overall, there are delicious items here. The Soondae is excellent, and it brings you back because you can watch her pull the sausage out and cut it in front of you. The big dumplings are great, though I really only like the spicy one. (They have non spicy and veggie as well). The Chinese / Korean take out is very good as well, but they take quite a while, so I'd recommend ordering the food and. Then doing your shopping. We also got our rice cooker upstairs as they have a huge selection, we got tables with built in burners that are so convenient for Bbq, and they have massage chairs and bidets (Coway comes on weekends only). While it's priced higher than Amazon, it's full service so pretty worth it. All in all, a great supermarket with a point system for rewards. If you buy over $30 that day you can get a stamp, collect 10 stamps and it's $5 off. Not sure why they make you wait in the customer service line for the stamp, but it's kinda fun and you don't wait long. read more

Mega Mart is yet another huge Asian supermarket on Pleasant Hill. There's a Super H Mart, GreatWall, Mega Mart, and Assi all within a couple miles of each other. Mega Mart opened in October 2010. Unlike the other stores, Mega Mart is not located directly on Pleasant Hill, but inside Gwinnett Place Mall. It's a Korean chain of discount department stores/supermarkets and I think this is the only location in the U.S. They also have locations in China. Unlike the other supermarkets, Mega Mart has a department store that sells clothing (2nd floor) and a banquet hall (3rd floor). Since this place took over an old department store (Rich's), you can enter/exit the store from many different locations inside and outside of the mall. I glanced around the 2nd floor for a little bit, but this review really only covers the supermarket. On average, I think Mega Mart has the lowest prices compared to its competitors. The produce is inexpensive. Examples include 10 bunches of spring onions for $1.00, purple sweet potatoes for $0.19/lb, bitter melon for $0.59/lb, Korean melons for $0.59/lb, and pineapples for $0.99 each. The selection of meats and seafood is not as extensive, but still very nice. Mega Mart runs some cool specials. For example, a few weeks ago, if you spent $35 in groceries, you got a free seedless watermelon. Good luck getting up to $35 of produce. We had a cartful, but weren't able to hit the limit. Mega Mart doesn't have a "food court" with tables like the other markets, but it does have a lot of food stalls that sell freshly made Asian foods. One of the stalls sells a big version of the Chinese steamed pork buns (char siu bao). They're very good and $1.99 each. There's plenty of free food samples (dumplings, kimchi, noodle soups) available as well. Business has been slow the times I've been to Mega Mart. I think their odd location inside Gwinnett Place Mall hurts them. I hope they succeed. read more

They have good sales (esp. produce), great selection and free samples :) Some highlights of Mega Mart: LOYALTY PROGRAM - Join their loyalty program, and make sure you show your membership key card when you check out. Earn 1 point = $1. After 1000 points, you can get a free birthday cake from White Windmill ... or $10 gift card but of course the cakes are a better deal since they're usu. over $25. FREE BIRTHDAY CAKE FROM WHITE WINDMILL - Yep free birthday cake after 1000 points. But you'll need to reserve the cake 3 days in advance. You have to pick up the cake on the day of the birthday, and show the birthday person's ID. I love Korean cakes and the one for my mom had fresh fruit on top and a fruit layer -- nice size too. Candles and plastic cake knife included! SALES AND FREE SAMPLES - All the Korean supermarkets (Mega Mart, Assi, Super H Mart) start new sales on Fridays. And almost all the time they have "Fri/Sat/Sun only" sales -- so these are the best days to go. Plus they have good free samples! KIMCHI - My mom thinks they have the best kimchi. You can get a huge bag for $11.99 -- but sometimes they come on sale for $7.99. They have all kinds of kimchi - radish, cucumber, cabbage, chives, .... FOOD COURT - They have just one food court stall and a dumpling station. Haven't tried the food court but I always see people eating there. I've had the dumplings a few times and they're pretty good. MISC - Seafood is good. Rice cake selection is good (always fresh that day). Bulgogi is just ok (Super H Mart on Pleasant Hill has the best). read more

Mega Mart - Free White Windmill Birthday Cake - Grocery Near Me - Duluth, Georgia

I have been to many different Korean grocery stores (Atlanta and LA), and Mega Mart, by far, had some of the most unique offerings out of all. Needless to say, I was very impressed! Just the fact that the location is in a regular Georgia shopping mall gives a totally different multi-floor department store vibe. The cart escalator is pretty damn cool! Yes, your cart has an escalator, too. So the cart travels next to you whether you are going to up or down. There are items that you will find at Mega Mart that you will not find at H Mart or Assi store; the extensive home goods section and apparel. My main gripe being that the apparel is mostly just one brand, made all from slinky fabric, in mostly ajimma styles. My Korean friends in Florida have been specifically asking me to find "fruit forks" and "tea spoons." As I am sure that many of you culturally literate people know; for dessert or snacks, often Korean families will eat fruit and snacks cut into bite size pieces. For example: Fuji apples peeled and cut into cubes. These snacks are eaten with specially designed small forks. I was lucky to score from the vast dae-bak selection at Mega Mart! The food court layout at Mega Mart is also to my liking because they open early and have a cool layout with different stations. There is a chicken wing and soon-dae station, noodle and soup station, kimchi station, mandu station, and more. Each station has tables alongside to spread out the seating and give it more of a vignette feel. The tables and floors were exceptionally clean.
