Came here due to it being the closest place for a private vehicle purchase smog test. The cars emissions passed smog, but due to a small tear in the rubber air box intake hose, the car "failed" the visual. Absolute BS, and a money grab. Any other shop would have passed this vehicle. They're after as much money as they can squeeze out of you. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere. read more

This place is Awful Bad,, they are Dishonest and Ripped me off! I use a the company in Brentwood. But they were closed on Monday. My buddy went to the shop. He says they charge him $40. They told me $89.95 Both male and female were very rude, especially the female. She didn't even say hi she spoke Spanish to her husband and started crawling under my vehicle. Speak Spanish to the husband, he then crawled under the vehicle. after they did a visual inspection. They said that it would be $89.95 if it passes or not. The was a problem and knowingly knew that they were going fail it. In my opinion, that's a crook. They could've just told me either a problem, but they decided to rip me off. I do not recommend this place. To preface, my car passed. I went here at 9am as it is difficult to find smog places open on Saturdays. They weren't open. I called them, they, husband and wife, said they were two blocks away. This turned into 1 hour before they arrived. A long line formed. My car was smogged. I submitted the registration on the CA website. When I hadn't received the tags within a month I went to the AAA DMV and found out that the test had not been submitted. I had kept the paperwork but was told that it could not be accepted without the digital submission. I went back to Joe. At 4:30 on a weekday, during their hours of operation, they were not there. I finally tracked down Joe on a Saturday who said that it wasn't his fault and that I would have to pay for an additional test. I would not give him money and went to a different place having to take time off from work so to do. It appears that he takes the monies without providing any service. read more

I do my smog test for my RV with Joe. He has a good heart and reliable and open personality. The more you know the more you like him.

Failed my test, Joel was able to tell me why it failed. I went home took care of it and returned back and Passed. I needed a STAR TEST center. Test was $50 total, but since I failed they subtracted the Certificate fee of $8.25 so it was $41.25 I paid for a failed test. When I returned I paid the $8.25 plus extra $10. I'm guessing the $10 was for his time to recheck it which is understandable. Not a deal breaker. Was very thorough, more than others places. Which is good! I have to say I'm happy with everything. read more

I got my smog test done here and the man there (not sure of his name, maybe Joe?) was very helpful and accomodating. He took me in right before closing! It was very quick and he charged the best price around, as I've called many shops prior to coming here. I don't understand why this shop only has 3 stars because truthfully it's great! Needed a CA Brake and Lamp Inspection on my motorcycle. I called several inspection stations that quoted insane prices and quoted several hours to preform this simple inspection on a motorcycle. Went to get my car smog that had an aftermarket cold air intake. He popped the hood saw that it was in there before he did anything and did her bothered to ask me for the EO sticker. Didn't have it anyways but that's not the point. I get called to the desk by his wife and she tells me it didn't pass because of the cold air intake. If I can get the EO sticker then they'll retest it got $18.00. They charged me $41.95 at that time. What really bothered me was if he saw the cold air in there why didn't he ask for the the EO sticker and since I didn't have it why didn't he tell me it wasn't going to pass before he even tested it. He got his $41.95 from me but I won't be going back because I feel that was a bit dishonest of his part. read more

0 Star - Took my Car Last Week to get Smog. It took him 5 min. He asked me a question whether i replaced the Catylitic Converter. I said, I don't know. Because, i just bought it. He said i'm missing the Emission Label in the car. He said to buy it from the dealer and ask me to come with him to his desk. Charge me $41.75 and told me to come back with the label and bring $18.25 cash to retest again. He knew he needed the label to do the test. Instead he charge me $41.75 for doing nothing and he had the nerve to tell me bring cash. He just wanted money. I took it to another smog test only with the emission label. I've had 3 of my work trucks smogged here in the past 6 months and everything goes smoothly! Joe also took care of my moms Acura TL and my Jeep Wrangler. There's usually not a wait. If I could give him 0 stars I would!! Guy showed up late, got mad at me because I called the number. Has 3 cars waiting with me all pissed because he told them either on the phone or in person that he was open at 8, then didn't show up until almost 9. Then had to proceed to remove 4 vehicles from inside the shop in order for anyone to reach the test machine. Then after all this fiasco, just like with the previous person said he couldn't smog it because there was a K&N filter on it. Showed him the CARB EO number and all and still refused. Sounded like one of the other people waiting was back because he told him it wasn't legal to change the muffler. Basically sounds like the guy doesn't want to deal with entering any CARB EO info. Don't take your car to him if it has any CARB EO stickers on it and expect a smooth transaction! I went to A1 Stop Smog in Pittsburgh by Costco and I was in and out! No issues. Go here instead, avoid the unnecessary wait and headache. read more

Avoid this place at all cost, overpriced and rude owner/staff. The lady and the guy himself won't even greet you, and when they fail your inspection, they can't even provide a valid reason. He failed my inspection saying the bulbs aren't D.O.T even though there was a sticker. I lost $90 for brake and light inspection. I was getting my car a smog retest and they made me wait for almost 2hrs. My car was 2nd car in-line for a smog but the secretary made me wait and put my car last. They put 3 cars ahead of me cause they were not a $20 retest like my car. I've been going to this place for many years and never joe never did this to me. This is the first time I've had to deal with the secretary. I've never seen her before but she needs to know what "first come first serve" means. If only I could 1/4 of a star, I would. read more

I believe I was racially profiled yes I am black I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe bought it brand new after purchasing it I went had a K&N air filter put on I have had my truck 13 years so you do the math on how many smog checks that I have had. Just moved up here from Southern California when to the smog station that was not crowded now I can see why but he's going to tell me that my truck will not pass because of my K&N air filter he says it's the wrong year I've never had that happen before so you tell me why I wouldn't feel racially profile he took my money and ran I have other vehicles too smog and you best believe I will never go back there I rather take a penalty from DMV then go ther and the only reason why I'm giving it one star because I have to read more

When I first took my 1995 Toyota Camry to his shop it failed but he was more than happy to tell me what I needed to do in order for my car to pass. The next few days I came back and my car passed! Could not even get my car smog test done because Joe does not test cars unless car has the VIN number in the windshield. My car is older and does not have it there. I tried to show him 4 other locations were he could find it but refuses for no reason. I can not recommend this shop. Any car person knows that there are multiple place to check a car's VIN number. read more

The only perk of my visit was the wait time but other than that I had a horrible experience. First of all, my car did not have the service engine light and after bringing it here, it magically appeared once he finished and he charged me $35 still for a failed smog. The guy didn't look like he knew what he was doing and was looking under the hood of my car for 10minutes. Idk what he was looking for. In the end, I don't think their old equipment was reading my car and why would he do the smog anyways if the service light was on. I will never come here again and I wouldn't recommend it to others.
