If I could give a zero star review it would be this. I'm not normally one to run to Yelp to write a bad review but this one felt necessary to help other people out. I was pulling up to his shop and he starts shoo-ing me away. I thought maybe it was because someone was backing out so I parked across the street at the mexican market. As I was approaching him and tried to ask a question, he rudely blurts out he's booked for the day and starts closing the garage. He told me to try him in the morning. No thanks! His energy was super negative, he was rude, not personable at all. I'll take my business else where. Save yourself and find a shop that actually wants business and to help people. read more

Great customer service, owner comes and greats you. He will ask you a few questions and set you up with an appointment. Took good care of my truck. Passed with flying colors as usual. Cost just as much as any other smog check franchise, but you get the small town feel. Make sure you support your local establishments. It makes all the difference. Just had my car smogged at the end of February. My son did too. I have been going to Wayne for years. He is always courteous and professional! He always does a good job and usually only takes about 20 minutes. He is also very careful on handling your car, never leaves it dirty or with smudges all over the hood. I needed a SMOG ASAP and I was looking for one and found Wayne's SMOG. I didn't know they existed in my area because I'd always went to the same spot but now closed. I'm glad I found this spot. The place looks like an old school auto shop with worn couches but I didn't mind it because it felt like home! There is a small TV to accompany you, while you wait for your car! There was only one guy ahead of me. The guy at the front desk, Jeff Wayne was nice. He said the service would only take 20 minutes and he kept his word! They usually take appointments but also takes walk-in appointments! The cost is standard and they take credit cards, sorry no checks allowed!!! I like the fact that I don't have to send a copy of the smog document to DMV, per the guy at the front desk, the Smog will be posted by 12 midnight of that same day. read more

pulled up sat inside Wayne's shop one customer in ask her if she had an appointment she said no she just showed up and he did. It said hello to Wayne. He didn't acknowledge me when he was finished with the customer. I him if I could get a small on my he told me no he only takes appointments so I told him can I make an appointment for next week he told me that after 8 PM because he doesn't know if he's coming to very unfriendly. He only wants to do on a certain group of people. He doesn't seem interested in helping everyone. He seems like he is not happy in his job. He is old school, Oakley's attitude towards certain people don't go to Wayne. He's not the person for you. He doesn't wanna make money, very rude and arrogant read more

It ended up being $60 and he was able to do it in 30 minutes which was nice. The only reason I give it three stars is because he (Wayne) seemed super unhappy. It made the whole place feel uncomfortable and he was the same to the next person that came in. read more

Some basic courtesy (being less rude) to customers would go a long way. Just fyi, my car passed, so that's not the issue here. Among other things, when asked why a customer with no appointment was tested first, the sarcastic answer was, "Well I guess you can't satisfy everyone, right?". NOT recommended. read more

Great place for a smog. Took my 1988 Ford Festiva here for a smog after being turned away by another Star smog station in Brentwood. Jeff Wayne was able to get me in the same day, advised me to warm up the car before arriving (always good advice for older cars and catalytic converters), and started right on the appointment time. Local Smog Shop, A+. In an out in 20 minutes. I've done three cars in the last few months (lucky me, all of our cars came up at once) and had a great experience each time. The first time they even squeezed me in between two appointments as an accommodation. It is a no-frills experience, if you want a latte while you are waiting go somewhere else. Quick and efficient and reasonable price. There's nothing really much you can ask for from a Smog Inspection place. They have an extensive amount of magazines in the waiting area in case you get bored, but it's located in Downtown Oakley so you always have the option of exploring around and checking out nearby shops. Seen this place and the good reviews figured it wouldn't hurt to bring my car in. Got back in my car after smog test. Car didn't run the same AT ALL. Had my mechanic check it out and they wedged a bent metal clip in where you read the cars computer. What the hell is up with that?! My experience was not the best. The first time I secured services for a smog test at this location, I felt like I was just another guy in line. Wayne doesn't seem too enthusiastic about helping people but I cant really determine much from an unfriendly intake and a quick smog and pay... my review really comes from the aftermath. My vehicle failed smog the first time due to problems I was not sure about. I had to get another mechanic to look at it but that mechanic was extremely busy himself. He is my normal mechanic and I wanted to wait for availability for my vehicle. When my vehicle was finally fixed I took it back to Wayne for a retest. Now I understand rules are set up for a reason. With all rules, however, comes some exceptions. Wayne rejected a retest on my vehicle because it went past his 30 day policy. I am not a man with a lot of money and definitely not enough money to pay out 60 dollars every time I need to retest my vehicle. It took a while to get the repairs and I was hoping to get a little sympathy from Wayne but he heard me for about 3 seconds and rejected the idea despite the vehicle issues delay that was out of my control. So now I will have to find another smog station that will hopefully have a little more compassion for peoples situations but unfortunately will have to pay again. read more

Been going here for a few years now with both my 2001 Corolla and 2005 Highlander. On-par with other smog check prices in the area (I do check each time I go). The service guy is one of those people you just know does honest work the moment you meet him. The big couch is honest as well. And the magazine selection honestly large too. Unfortunately you won't be hanging out all day though, he runs a tight shop and doesn't waste your time if you don't waste his. I haven't had to wait longer than 30 minutes. read more
