Brought my car for a part change, they will charge u the part like they're buying the original one, the most expensive one and will literally add a part I could've bought myself on Amazon then when it came down to the warranty they said it would be covered and because of a scratch on the physical part they said it's no longer under warranty I payed over 2k for this absolutely horrible service seems like a bunch of 15 year old working there no one took any responsibility for how the situation played out. read more

This place Prices are Higher than Dealerships....Crazy, call them then call dealerships around the corner. You want Honest and Reliable up front not trying to up-sale you or tell you about getting repairs not needed like Gumaro's Repair does....then go to 360 AUTO REPAIR down the street past 24 Hour Fitness ask for SAM or JOE...tell them MAX referred you. These guys have never tried to get over on me, family, friends that I have brought over....been coming here now for at least 8 years. These guys are NOT overpriced or prices higher than dealerships or franchises either. When I send my wife or mother-in-law (I can not make it sometimes) these guys or any of their mechanics never try to up-sale or convince them to do unnecessary repairs, they will show you, tell you what they think, and will give you honest answers when you ask, "how long can I drive the car before actually having to repair?" Gumaro's - 30 years ago before my I meet my now in-laws they use to come to Gumaro's, swear this was the best place, and I found out the prices they were charging for tires was way higher than America Tires, Walmart....you name it....for years they were ripping off my in-laws not only tires but for services or repairs....I had my in-laws leave them. You see the Bad reviews, you see many are Female postings, it seems like the old "Take Advantage" of the wife, sister, daughter who may not be or know about auto repairs and costs. I have been using Gumaro's for almost 20 years. They are respectful and fairly priced. They are easy to work with and give you honest opinions and estimates. I am extremely happy with the services they have performed on multiple vehicles I have brought to them. I have gone to them for smog, heater repair, a/c repair, as well as minor and major repairs. We are currently debating on whether to do a complete engine overhaul on one our vehicles and they are thoroughly looking at all options for us. Anytime my check engine light comes on, I go to them. I know I can depend on them to do a great job at a fair price. I won't go anywhere else! read more

300$ for a break and lamp inspection I got tongue tied way over priced gnarly way too expensive

Took out 1997 Ford F-250 had here for a lamp and brake inspection. At first was told that we would most likely need to take off my axles to work on the brakes (I googled and this is not the case) they still wanted to argue it could Happens, I said call us before you do Anything based on that info. So they take the truck and we get a call That the lights are not perfectly point forward. So they wanted another 130 dollars to adjust a few front light bulbs, sure ok. Then we were told to pickup The vehicle. My elderly father who spoke to them The old time was barely explained anything and per Him the whole ride home there was a speed based grinding noise. When he got home I was able to inspect the vehicle and i couldn't tel the issue until me and my 2 certified mechanic friend shot under the truck with me.. so I get under and see the attached pic, the brake dust guards were bent and gouging the interior of the room on both the front driver and passenger side ( these are very easy to hear while driving ) so he was going to have the rest of the brakes done but I got under neath and found these giant gauges from t bent back dust shields ( usually this is done to get the brakes off for inspection or for changing the whole unit.. clearly the Gumaro's mechanics remove the front brakes by bending back the dust shields, and then they never bent them back this resulting in the pic below including dead gouge marks permanently damaging the rims.. when we called back we were given the run around.. after speaking 2 two diff shops apparently. This is something shops do to get gullible customers back to reorder a whole new brake kit when No is needed. Gumaro's has taken no responsibility and only wants to charge more go figure. Please refund us for your shoddy work.. another voice mail left today 9/24. Still waiting for a call back about this. I would prefer to just have them taken responsibility. read more

My 89 toyota truck failed smog. Now it costs an additional $50 to re-certify. I am not happy. Small print on the receipt that I did not see. The place is dirty ceiling has holes with toxic looking stuff coming out. In Concord, my experience was only $10 for re-certify. Never coming back here. He was on a personal call for 20 minutes, and I am his first customer, before i got customer service. Customer service FAIL, guys in the garage are nice. read more

So far so good, had my thermostat replaced and head resurfacing due to overheating. No issues, my Chrysler van works great. The work was done faster than they told me it would be and the price was close to what was quoted. They stayed open late 30 minutes to wait for me to come pick up my van and pay. They also helped get the car seats in the car so the kids and I could be on our way. Nice helpful service. My husband had his belt replaced in his Chrysler 300 due to it making a squeaky noise, they said it was drying out. His car is doing good so far too. The son answered all my questions about my husband's car without being rude. read more

Charged me and failed me for a smog test instead of telling me my computer wasn't ready for a smog test. You cant even do a smog test when the computer isn't ready and they know that. About 2 hours for an oil change. They didn't have a filter and wasn't communicative until the 1hr mark. Would have appreciated the heads up.

This is the WORST auto repair shop I've ever been to. Seriously, they must have their friends review them on Yelp because I can't begin to imagine how they could possibly have four stars. I wish I could give them a negative star rating my experience was so bad. I have infant twins and needed to get my car checked out before a big road trip and so called this place for an estimate and appointment. They told me that they don't do appointments so to just come in. With their proximity to Costco I thought I couldn't go wrong, even if I had to wait a bit. The man behind the counter was exceedingly rude and wouldn't even look up from texting on his cell phone to take my keys and information while my restless babies waited for him to finish up on his iphone. So unprofessional. I figured friendliness isn't a requirement to being a good mechanic so I shrugged it off and headed to Costco for some big box shopping, ie diapers and formula. About two hours later I returned to find they had charged me $100 and had not done any work but claimed my car needed $500+ in repairs that they were of course happy to complete any time. One of the repairs they claimed I need was a brake job but I had just had them done about 6 months ago so something seemed very fishy. I also drove in with two working turn signals and somehow one of them was no longer working and they were more than happy to charge me to fix it. I decided not to spend another dime as I just got an all over icky feeling from this place. A-1 shysters all the way -- happy to rip me off and be completely unethical in order to get a few extra hundred dollars at the end of the day. Well, I took my car to another mechanic the next day and he got the turn signal working for free in less than a few minutes and confirmed the car didn't need anything - including brakes for at least another 5 - 10K miles. read more

They are "Hustlers R Us" at its finest. I have tools and my own garrage. I could have done the job myself but wanted to save time. They were only supposed to swap a bearing and seal. They rambled about ordering premium parts and charging me more for requesting they use the sealed OEM parts I had with me. Quoted me $620.00. Twice the price of other quotes I got for the same job. I figured I'll let them do it to test their credibility for a bigger job I had lined up. They Failed the test miserably. The repair was two hours of work tops. They took 2 days, keeping my car over night last minute, after I told them I need it for work. They called me the next day to squeeze me for more cash, stating they didn't want to use a part their supplier gave them as it was cheap, even though I had the OEM dealer part sealed left with them. Then they said they had another part they thought was better but it costs $80.00 more. I like to see what people are capable of and I have money, so I told him to do what he has to to fix the car. I get my car the next day, and I still hear noise from this premium wheel bearing that was soooo expensive, installed by them. I am pretty sure the cheapest possible part was installed, possibly to get me back there to pay more. They stole $700.00, but lost $10000.00 in future business from me. Thanks! read more

This company is definitely shade. I had a car that was in need of a smog and had a feeling that it wasn't going to pass. I looked on the Bureau of Automotive Repair website for a shop that participates in the CAP program, which helps pays for smog repairs. That way I wouldn't have to pay twice for a smog by using the free retest after they did the work. I found this shop based off the limited selection on the website. I went in and asked them about the program. A day later I went in for the smog and sure enough it failed. It took a few weeks to get a response from the CAP Program and when I received the acceptance letter I called to set the appointment for repairs. That is when I was told that they are not participating in the program for the next 60 days. I then had to find another shop to have the work done. Because I couldn't do the free retest that I had paid for at Gumaro's shop, I had to pay for another smog with the shop that did the repairs. So yeah, basically I lost $40 because this shop lied about their participation in the CAP program. read more

Took a car here to get a smog, paid for it then he says while going through the test my car looses single. It didn't fail or pass and he didn't refund my money blaming my car. I take it some where else and it passes with no issues. Came back to tell him it was his equipment and not my car he didn't try to make it right with me and refund my money. IF there was lower then one star i would give it. This is the worst place ever, be warned. I spend thousands in repairs for my Classic, which would not even start after major repairs. When it did start it turned off on me half way down the street, only for them to tell me i need a new engine ? Water was pouring all out the engine everywhere. And they still made me pay for the reparis. This place is only good for mufflers, be warned. I didn't even go back after they put my new engine and it was under warranty, it was still leaking oil everywhere ? A new engine leaking ? After almost $6 grand in repairs ? I REALLY wanted this to be a good review. But unfortunately I cannot say it will be. I've had issues with my car for a few weeks now. Its spontaneous and does not occur all the time. I've ran the car through a computer and finally did a compression test on my own. So I figured i'd take it to gumaros to see if they could do a liquid test or a piston height test. Both tests can be performed on the car while doing a compression test. I dropped my car off and simply explained, I ve done a compression test, these were the results. I need these tests done to see if its a head gasket or piston rings. They said no problem they'd look at it the next morning. Which was acceptable, I dropped it off close to closing. The next day comes and I call them. They say its on a road test and they'll call me back as soon as it gets back in. Three hours later.. I call them back. The technician over the phone said it was 50PSI cylinder four, 150PSI cylinder three, 170 PSI Cylinder One and Two. When I did the test it was 90PSI 3/4 and 180PSI 1/2. On the paperwork they stated it needed a "valve job". This concerned me greatly. So I asked them if they'd checked the piston height or checked the rings. They said no, they would have to take apart the engine to even check this. I then asked about the liquid test or piston height test. They rambled on and continued to say they can take the head of the engine off to run a compression check on the valves and run a leak down test. (DING! Anyone catch that? They didn't even know for sure if the valves were bad.) When this occurred I then asked the technician who worked on my car if he did a static or dynamic compression test. He, and I quote, says "Uh, we just took the plugs out and stuff." Paid the 90$ Diagnostic fee, took my car home; on the paperwork it said 90PSI in #4. This concerned me, so i poped up my hood. (If you can't tell i'm anal about my car by now; I am) I specifically moved a wire under my intercooler when I did a compression test. They would have had to move this wire if they pulled the plugs/intercooler off the car. The wire was still there, On top of this no one mentioned the oil that leaks from my intercooler because of a bad turbo. You have to remove the intercooler to get to the plugs. You can't miss the oil, and it is discerning. So these facts tell me they never even did a compression test. read more

This place can't read aftermarket parts correctly. If you need to pass smog go elsewhere, I failed here because they said the EO numbers on my parts were not right for my vehicle. As soon as I left I went and got the same test done at another star smog location and passed with flying colors. read more

I had worked with Gumaro's previously when I worked for an auto parts company they bought from, so I already knew they would deal with me fairly when I came to them to get my car smogged. What I didn't know was how quickly they would get my service done!! I was in and out of there in 45 minutes flat with my passing smog certificate in my hand. The price was VERY affordable - $36.95 out the door - and I was really grateful to see that Edgar was still there since he was the person I had my previous experience with. I will definitely bring my car back to Edgar and his team if I need it, but I'm going to hope I don't need to!! read more

I was referred to them from the place next door so I thought they were a good shop and affordable. I go in, tell them the diagnostic I had on my car. They said it wasn't the right one so I had to pay for a $120 diagnostic from them that takes 3 hours. Diagnostic is done, I go back, they say the same thing that was on the diagnostic I brought them then say what I need to get fixed is over $400 plus the diagnostic so I pay over $500 bc I really needed my car fixed. They tell me they have to order the parts and they'll be there Monday and they'll call me and fix the car same day. Monday comes, I don't get a call. Tuesday comes, no call. Wednesday comes & I call them around 5 because they still didn't call me. They said the parts didn't come. He calls me back and said his dad said the part did come but it was the wrong part and they had to call a different dealership to get it. Says he'll call me back the next day with an update. He doesn't call me Thursday. I get a call Friday, he says that the dealership doesn't sell the parts individually and I would have to get the entire system replaced and parts alone are over $1000 not including labor. I ask for a refund. I go down there to get my refund. I walk into the office and a lady comes in after me. He tells me that he's going to help the lady after me in line first and then he'll help me. I waited patiently until I was helped. I asked if I could have my refund back in cash and they said no, I asked how long it'll take to get back to my account and they both didn't know the answer to that and I didn't get refunded for that expensive ass diagnostic test!! read more

Crooked place, took me for my money‼ Just don't go there. Gave them business for 3 cars. They replaced motor mounts, 1 yr 2 days later I return for radiator issues. During the diagnotic, motor mounts were recommended. I remembered them being replaced so I went home and found my paperwork (they obviously hadn't checked their records). Well, I was SOL, warranty was for one year. Soooo, they agreed to replace if I did radiator repair. Suckered me in. Radiator blew 3 months later - NEW RADIATOR - messed up head gasket. They returned 100% of cost of radiator and labor but I was SOL for the $1,000+ tow & repair of head gasket. New Repair shop told me that that "new" radiator was cheapest possible part that was leaking at the seams and had they done original work, out of good faith, would have covered head gasket - radiator was 3 months old!
