Rarely I go with the first person I call, but in this case I just found a local guy because I like to give my business to local people. Joe arrived pronto and got everything out and went to work. I moved as much as I could to make his job easy. It's a small bedroom and the carpet hadn't been cleaned in 24 yrs. It wasn't bad but it needed cleaning. Anyway he was here at 9:45 and had his gear back in the truck by 10:25. He never brought me back to inspect his work which should've been a red flag. It was quick and not worth the money I paid him. My mistake for trusting people. The bed was barely moved and he didn't move the dresser which is easy to move. The edges of the carpet were filthy so I grabbed a towel and some cleaner to and ran it around. My towel was BLACK. Joe hadn't even touched those areas. And he didn't even open my closet doors to clean the little bit of carpet that was dirty. He says he's been in business for 35 yrs. Maybe it's time for him to retire. Joe Harris re-cleaned a carpet in one of my rentals because a stain was evident after the first company left it and ignored my call regarding the problem. Mr Harris was optimistic regarding the stain, and if I remember correctly, he also states that stain removal is part of his advertised skills. Mr. Harris spent 20 minutes or so re-cleaning the carpet, he was very casual about the condition when I asked about it when he was finished. In fact, after he cleaned it, 2 more stains appeared. Mr. Harris said the carpet was worn, and that is why it was stained. I have heard other cleaners tell me the same other places of mine. In fact, the carpet in the rental was less worn than many I have had that cleaned up well. I have had to replace this one even though it is in good shape and it is a good quality carpet. When I called another company with the same problem in my home, the cleaning crew had to come back, and, magically, the stains were removed after the manager instructed them to do a better job. My theory is that business is good and the cleaning people do not want to be bothered to do the hard work (aka, use elbow grease) that is necessary to get the fabrics clean. I paid Mr. Harris, but I do not believe he acted responsibly and professionally when dealing with my account. I would never contract with him again, even though it appears most of the carpet cleaners in the area are, at best, casual regarding their responsibilities to honor their own advertising. I suspect local cleaning quality will improve when the economy sours again, and customers are harder to come by read more

I called Joe because of the combination of a coupon circular I received and the fact that my carpets looked terrible! Joe told me what to expect and gave me a window of time he'd be here, and he arrived at the beginning of that window! My light ivory carpet was not so light ivory anymore with kids and dogs, so he did lots of pre-treating and left my carpet looking beautiful!!! I do NOT recommend Joe Harris Carpet Cleaning. I asked him to come and give me a quote at my house but he insisted on giving it to me over the phone. The price he quoted over the phone for cleaning the carpet and stairs ended up charging me twice as much. I timed how long it took him to clean my upstairs floor which is about 1000 feet, it literally took him 20 minutes. Joe quoted me three dollars a stair but charge me $75 for 12 stairs. He also stretched my carpets which did not take long per room. The total bill came to $1200. He was at my home for three hours. I Was out raged because that was well over half 50% more than his quote. He was proud of himself for getting two tiny marks out of the carpet but leaving another. No extra effort was made on the stain. Didn't come up the first go around, too bad. To add insult to injury he asked if he could come in and out through my garage because it would be easier for him. After he left I noticed that my $350 yard blower was gone. Obviously I do not recommend him to anyone. Joe will still your wallet and offer to help you look for it! read more
