This is a letter I wrote to them back on 02/2013: Dear Sirs, I picked up my clothes today Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 12:10pm. I had 17 pieces of clothes. When the attendant rung me up she said that the total was $108.90! I asked her if she was sure that this was the correct price. It was $108.90 for just 17 pieces of clothes? She said yes, that it was because I had 12 pieces that were dry clean and 5 shirts. I told her that this was a considerably high amount to charge because even the dry clean pieces were just other shirts and dress slacks. I asked if I could speak with the manager or the owner about it, and she said that she was the manager. I didn't realize she was the manager because when I get there, she was just sitting on a stool and playing with her cell phone. She told me that it was because this cleaners does some things that other cleaners do not. What exactly is that? Clean and press them like the rest? She said that it was also because I had them in hangers. I told her that the cleaners next door to me only charges $1.99 per piece, whether it's dry clean or pressed and I get them in hangers all the time. She said that the area we were in was high. Well the area that we were in is Buckhead, which is where I live, and the cleaners next door to me that I was referring to is also in Buckhead, no different area. She said that the only thing she could do for me was to remove special handling charges. So I asked what kind of handling charges? She said that it was because they were scheduled for pick up on a Monday and placed in hangers. I told her that I had not asked for any special handling and that I just wanted them whenever they were ready, but never expected to pay extra for "special handling" that I was not informed about and that I never requested.
In addition, the lady that took the clothes in the first place, seemed to be annoyed with the fact that I was there dropping off clothes, as if I was bothering her from what she was doing before I got there. Instead, she should have explained what the charges were going to be. The only time she was nice, was when I left and she told me to have a good day, but during the time that I was there, she kept moving everything around, and kept moving out of the way for the other attendant to help another customer, as if the other customers had priority before me, making me continue to wait as she would get out of the way for the other attendant to help others. This very rude, but I never said anything, other than just wait patiently. She seemed to be extremely distracted because she counted my clothes 4 different times! I couldn't believe she had to re-start counting them so many times.
I also know that I may be at fault for not asking how much it was going to cost in the first place, but the attendants should also let the customer know if items are going to cost different prices and/or if any "special handling" is going to be required/charged. I felt comfortable not asking because the first time I had been there, I had taken 20 pieces of clothes and the cost was about $60.00. That seemed very reasonable to me which was about $3.00 per piece. That first time that I was there with more pieces was even lesser of a cost then this 2nd time around! I had 3 pieces less, but yet it was now a higher price! The manager noticed that I had a $5.00 coupon in my hand, so she said that since I had a coupon, that it was going to bring the total down to $103.90, like if that was a really big discount. So she said that she would remove the special handling charges and when she was done, she said that it was a total of $97.90. That was still a very high price to pay for just 17 pieces of clothes. I could have practically gone out and just bought new clothes. I was tempted to leave them there because I was so sickened from the cost. However, I went ahead and paid the $97.90.
The manager said that I could contact the owner who is out of a different location and she gave me the number. I called the owner, Mr. J. C. Strickland at 404-292-8440, but a lady who answered said that he was not in and took my name and phone number, and said that she would let him know to call me back. My call was not returned. I hope that I am credited a reasonable amount back onto my credit card because this was just way too high of a price to pay. I know this is a business, and rent for that location has to be paid and staff and bills have to be paid, but I must tell you that this was an outrageous amount of money to pay for just a few clothes. Overall, I'm sorry to say that this was just a horrible experience for me, to say the least. I will certainly not be returning to this business again.
If I could give them a quarter of a star, I would, this place does not even deserve 1 star. read more
