But the coating fell off very easily and it seemed like some of it had no meat inside. Still good and plenty to eat. Fries were good. Onion strings were mostly breading. Dessert of fried peaches and ice cream was tasty. Next time I will order less fried things. Sitting on that patio with a draft Ble Moon was fabulous. The wait was pretty long for a table here today. We decided to get a table outside for n the patio since we had our dog with us. We probably waited about an hour to be called for a table. I ordered the okie burger with fried okra and I got the table a fried pickle appetizer. First the friend picked came out and the amount was.......laughable. Check out my photo. I'd suggest if you are going to give people that amount to make them come in a smaller plate for serving, so it doesn't look so sparse. There was so much empty room on the plate and all you get is a tiny amount of ranch. My boyfriend got the chicken friend steak with fries and the fried onion strings. The onion strings don't even come with a sauce. When I asked if we could get some ranch for the fried onion strings the server said sure how many and there will be a charge for each cup. It wasn't even a descent price per cup, so I said never mind. Our server got my mom's drink wrong and then got my boyfriend's side wrong. She did fix it, but wasn't the warmest person. The server said that's what I get for not writing down your orders. I think it's pretty dumb to have a fried onion side with no sauce and then you have to pay for a sauce. The burger was pretty good. We decided to give the Riverside Cafe a go on this visit to Medicine Park after my son graduated from Ft. Sill. The graduation was on a Wednesday so it was not super busy and easier to accommodate a larger group . The staff was very friendly. The first waitress kind of forgot about us so another took over and the meal was saved. The view of the river is great as well as the outdoor patio but it was getting on the warmer side in June so went for the inside. I got the Okie Burger. It had shoe string onions and bacon and BBQ and ranch sauce. It was a really tasty burger and the fries were perfect. My son got the same thing. They are a great place to visit for a cafe style menu when you are in the Lawton area. You should give them a try. read more

We decided to try this as there was a patio and we had the pup with us. They did not have a problem with tht as long as she wasn't aggressive (she's not). They sat us inside at a booth which was a nice break from the heat. Our server brought us menus and took our drink orders. When she returned my wife ordered a shrimp po-boy and I had the plain Jane burger with all the fixings. They come on the side which was nice. I had fries and my wife ordered onion strings. Only took a few minutes and our order was out. The burger was seasoned and cook awesome and the fries were seasoned and crispy. My wife's po-boy was huge but she couldn't eat it as a sandwich so she just cut it up and pulled it apart. The onion strings were great. Prices are reasonable. They have a full bar as well. Just moved to town and discovered medicine park! This little area was such a breath of fresh air compared to Lawton itself. We decided to give Riverside a try and I'm so glad we did. The service was amazing, and each person we had an interaction with was so friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Even the indoor seating has a great view of the water where you can watch the ducks and turtles swim around. And lastly, the food! It was truly some of the best I've had in a very long time. I highly recommend the baked potato salad as a side, I could eat a bowl full of that stuff, no joke Needless to say, this is our new favorite place, and we can't wait to come back read more

Fun to try Where else can you see a live tree growing through the middle of the restaurant, or sit and watch ducks, and yes, fish swimming in the water below? This place is nice, and not too loud for sound-sensitive children. For wheelchair users, they have a wonderful outside where you won't feel crowded and can enjoy great food. .. I recently moved to Oklahoma and discovered this beautiful little café by the river. I fell in love with the outdoor patio--there are plenty of tables and single stools that overlook the water. The atmosphere is peaceful, and I really enjoyed the corn nuggets, burgers, and salads. I've been excited to share this spot with visiting friends and family. When my parents came into town, my boyfriend and I rented a house in Medicine Park for the weekend with them. One of the things I looked forward to most was bringing them to this café with a breath taking view of the river. We walked over on a busy Saturday around 11:30 a.m. and waited just outside the entrance of the front door and patio to be seated. We stood calmly and out of the way, chatting quietly. As soon as the hostess, Erin, noticed my dad, she spoke loudly and sharply: "Please walk all the way inside and speak to the hostess to be seated." There was no greeting or friendliness. Just an irritated tone and an implication that he had done something wrong. She then oddly brought him back outside through the same door where we all met for our table--making it clear this was more about correcting him than helping us. The tone felt unnecessarily condescending. We were all caught off guard but stayed polite. She took us to a table in the middle of the patio, in full sun. We kindly asked if we could sit by the river to experience everything I had talked about. Erin replied (again sharply), "No, we can't do that--it's not fair to the servers. This section has to be seated next." There was no attempt to be understanding or accommodating. It was made very clear that our comfort and experience was less important than their seating policy. My mom gently asked if we could sit at a shaded table within the same section we were told we had to sit in. Erin rolled her eyes, scoffed, and muttered something under her breath. Then walked away without any eye contact. It was deeply embarrassing and uncomfortable. I couldnt believe how she just treated my mother. I nearly asked to speak to a manager right then, but we were trying to salvage the visit. After we sat down, my mom noticed Erin and another employee behind the hostess stand staring directly at our table, speaking with visibly annoyed expressions. While we couldn't hear them, the body language and expressions were unmistakable taking into consideration that we were one of 2 tables on opposite sides of the patio. It added a layer of anxiety that made my mom hesitant to even walk inside to use the restroom. I had to reassure her and offer to walk with her in case there were further issues. I felt heartbroken that something meant to be special had become so upsetting and made my mother that uncomfortable. I have no idea why we were treated this way, but the entire experience felt dismissive and unwelcoming. Erin's behavior set the tone for the visit and left a lasting negative impression. My parents are incredibly kind and understanding people, and none of us were rude or demanding. We made reasonable requests and were met with hostility every step of the way. To the management and owner: I truly hope you see this and take it seriously. This employee's conduct was not just unprofessional--it was unkind and immature. It reflects poorly on a business that otherwise has a beautiful atmosphere and good food. I regularly recommend local businesses to my clients, but I will not be recommending this one after this experience read more

Not my favorite place to eat at in Medicine Park. The location along the river and the view from the deck is nice on a warm day. I appreciate that they allow dogs outside. However, they just serve fried greasy food - nothing special or over-the-top. If you are looking for a basic bite to eat with a cold beer I would suggest this place, but if you're looking for a fancier dining experience I would go elsewhere. For no more than we ordered/needed during our visit, it felt like we were here forever because the service was slow. The spicy cheese curds were just regular curds with a ton of cayenne pepper added to the batter. The french fries were good, but my burger was rather bland. My husband's chicken fried chicken was overcooked and the breading slid right off. Overall, it was just okay and I'm not sure I would return. read more

The service was awful!! 4 young adults visited this restaurant this past weekend and the server, an older native woman was rude, and did the bare minimum to make sure her customers were taken care of. I don't know if she didn't take care of the table because of their age or what. The restaurant was not busy. Then the sever was also their cashier and made a rude comment when one patron of the 4 did not tip. The patron tipped according to the service they received, which was horrible. Somehow this was my first trip to downtown medicine park. No idea how I missed it! Stopped in for a late breakfast/early lunch ("brunch", one might call it) on a Sunday. Before noon, it wasnt too hot out, and the ample shade helped keep it comfy temps on the deck. There were some cute lights strung over head, it would probably make a nice hangout spot for later in the evenings once the sun goes down. The live music was a solo gig, Big Pete, of mostly oldies. Not bad. The service was quick and friendly. The menu pretty simple, nothing fancy. I went with a chicken sandwich: The Bama Bird. I'm from Bama, I like the little throw backs to home to sweet home, ya know? It was a fried chicken breast topped with fried onion straws and a drizzle of Alabama White BBQ sauce, LTOP on the side, and a side of fries. I also added a side of coleslaw because for some reason that sounded good.... it was not. Probably really only the one real negative of the trip. My date was wanting more brunch type of fare, so his only option was the Brunch Burger since there weren't any breakfast items on the menu. The burger had bacon, hashbrowns, and a egg on it. He ate every bite with zero complaints. Riverside Cafe is located in Medicine Park north of Lawton, Oklahoma. The area is what I would describe as "quaint and rustic." Perfect place for the kids to fish, swim, hike, and parents can shop. Back to the cafe. We ate on the patio as the weather was perfect. We were blessed to have the nicest waitress. She was fast and very efficient. The food was huge, and they were very fast preparing it. They could use some work on perfecting a chicken fried stead sandwich where the crust doesn't fall off (not many places have found that secret yet). We heard laughing and giggling and saw some kids heading down the stairs to feed the ducks. They were so cute. Now on to a couple of things for management. 1. What happened to the umbrellas? The sun was bearing down on us and made it uncomfortable. You had them in the past for many years. 2. Get updated no contact credit card readers please. Great riverside spot in Medicine park. We had 2 pups with us and they have a wonderful patio for us to sit. We started off with the corn nuggets and cheese curds. The corn nuggets had a delicious creamy spice with a delicate crispy shell. The cheese curds were delicious as well! My boyfriend and I shared the catfish. It was plenty for the 2 of us. The hush puppies stole the show for me though. All the food was great and they have huge portions. Come hungry or split with someone. read more
