HORRIBLE!! I took my Jeep to the Collierville location. The service manager will NOT communicate. He calls you back about once out of every ten times he says he will. He knew my rental car ran out after a month and still it was another week beyond having to take back the rental before I got my car. Front sensor lights didn't work when I got it back along with another electrical issue. It was not worth having my front sensors work to have to go back and deal with them again. 10 days later I had different fluids spill out of the front of the car. I opened the hood and looked down and the entire bottom of the car still had a huge crack in it where I had the accident. The manager sent a tow truck on a Tuesday to pick it up, it is now Friday and HE WILL NOT tell me anything. I am borrowing a car and I use my vehicle for my job. DO NOT GO HERE. They quoted my friend $2,900 on the same job that another body shop quoted $750. Probably because a young woman was the one needing help and they thought they could take advantage of her situation. On their quote was 10.5 hours of body labor, the other shop quoted 0.9 hours. Their quote for paint labor was 8.5 hours, the other shop 1.4 hours. Just a complete scam top to bottom of that sheet, made me furious. read more

Well, unfortunately have to leave a negative review. Brought my 2022 Mustang with 900 miles to have an aftermarket hood painted in Mischievous Purple. The quote I was given was extremely high but was assured they had the abilities and tools to compete the job as well as being highly recommended. After 2 weeks, I was called and told the car was ready for pick up. I picked the car up late in the day and drove the 30 mins home. The next day I pulled the car out of the garage into the sun to see huge imperfections in the paint. Sent videos and photos and ended up driving the car back. Painter stated he couldn't see the imperfections and that they weren't there when he completed the paint. Painter then says the only thing he can do is repaint. Painter repaints the car and says it's ready for pick up again. This time I show up in the day and point out the imperfections. Painter states he doesn't know what the issue is or why it's happening. Says once again, the only thing he can do is repaint it. I offered suggestions and tried to promote thoughtful conversation which was met with anger and deflection. Painter repaints again and the imperfections exist again. Sends me a video showing the same issues and apologizes. I call to speak to the shop manager about the issue and find out the Painter has told him everything is good and no issues exist. I ask the manager why he isn't communicating and the manager says he doesn't know why the lead shop Painter isn't communicating. The manager apologizes for the issues and says he will speak to the owner about what he can do to make it right. 2 days later, I am called and told that I have a check waiting for me for a "refund". This check is to the sum of 1/4th of what i paid. So now I have to find another shop in the summer and again pay full price to have the hood painted. I wasn't expecting a full refund as they had to do a little prep on the new hood but 1/4th is unacceptable. I would not suggest anyone use this body shop. No communicating, poor attitude, over priced for their quality and poor location. ​ read more

I was in Memphis Tn for my brothers funeral the weekend of the 28th June. No rental cars available. My friend was kind enough to let me borrow his S550. I scratched the rear bumper backing out a steep driveway... Before I flew back to Miami, I got an estimate & set an appointment for today, the 12th. I gave my phone number and the person that owns the car. My estimate was $1559. I gave my friend $1700 before my flight, the estimate & returned the car. I called him yesterday to remind him of the appointment, he was already on top of things. Today, he went to drop of the car. This body shop would not accept the car. My friend said this shop said he didn't call them to confirm the drop off. They wanted to make him another appointment for the 28th. They explained to him they had a big job that was ahead of him... So many things are wrong with this. Why would a Customer have to call a business to confirm an appointment. It definitely should be the other way around. If JOE STEWART BODY SHOP could not accommodate the SET APPOINTMENT, someone should have called one of us in ADVANCE OF THE APPOINTMENT DATE! Mentioning a big job in front of the set appointment makes one think this dealership was showing favoritism and gave away our time slot. When the original appointment was made, none of this was a factor. Asking to Set another appointment, 2 weeks out after already waiting 2 weeks Is also lousy service. In the event this business knew it was a month behind, disclosing this information would have made all the difference. I really hate writing this bad review. Based on the customer service I received when I got the estimate and made the appointment, I was planning to write a positive review if the job was satisfactory. My car was hit from behind and I wanted it repaired by the best collision shop in the city so I chose Joe Stewart's body shop. My car has been in there shop for 7 months and I went to pick my car up 4/22 and the back up camera won't retract, I have a message on my dash that say my gas take is open, my gas tank is flashing as I drive down the street my service engine light is on. They replaced all of these parts on my car but never fixed the electrical that these parts are attached to. My repairs were paid 20K to fix my car and they half fixed it. My car still isn't operational. if I had to do this again I wouldn't allow them to repair a bicycle. read more

Joe Stewart Body Shop does not cooperate with the insurance company or the customer. After many communication problems, I do not recommend Joe Stewart Body Shop for repairs. Customer Service is terrible. Lawrence Stewart, Service Department, refused to send the needed paperwork to State Farm Insurance for the listed item for me to get reimbursed. He insists that I pay the $1,247.15 because State Farm refused to accept the charges. Initially, I did not agree to pay for any work out-of-pocket which the insurance company refused to pay. However, I had to pay a $500 deductible plus $1,247.15 which was owed by the insurance company to get my vehicle back. I asked Mr. L. Stewart to resubmit the paperwork with the information detailed for the insurance company which they asked for. He refused. read more

My brand new BMW was broadsided. I was extremely hesitant to take it to Joe Stewart body shop but was convinced by Lawrence they would make me happy. My car has been with Joe S shop for the last 60 days. 30 days they had the car fixed but unfortunately they've caused so much damage putting in the parts that we still do not have the vehicle after 60 days. Extremely careless and unprofessional with dealing with the installation of components. Scratching brand new wheels damaging leather, putting in seals wrong. TERRIBLE customer service. If there was a negative or 0 stars, I would definitely give them that. This was also a place the BMW dealership recommended. I called and a man picked up. He was so rude!!! I called to gather more information and to potentially set up an appointment to get my car fixed, and they told me they were closed on the weekend. I responded with oh man.. and then they just hung up!!! They hung up just because I said oh man to being closed on the weekend. WOW. I recently had my car put back together at Joe Stewart Body Shop. After some dumb drunk young punk ran into the front of my Audi on purpose. There wasn't much damage to fix except I needed a new bumper and some paint and grill. There was a small problem trying to find the grill but everything worked out and I am very very pleased with how hard these guys work. They care about their business and the work that is being done. If you need work done on your car I suggest this body shop! Ask for John he will get you in and out. My car took exactly 1 week and the work is top notch grade A! read more

I want to divide this review this way: first 2 visits; last visit. first two visits 5 stars easily. Maxine is the nicest receptionist. makes you feel right at home. there was a kerfuffle about ordering an outside rear view mirror the first visit. weeks later, crickets. so I drove over to see what was what. the manager took a look and said it was possible to glue the mirror back into place, though he warned he could not guarantee it would hold. well, it has held for six years. the cost? 25 bucks. second visit. oops, the other outside rear view mirror (passenger side) got dinged. I went back. the mechanic said yes, it could be glued. did so, out some tape on it and advised I leave it on for 24 hours. cost? nada! Repair has held for around 4 years. so you can see why I would have given joe stewart body shop five stars based on that. third visit. what is it with me and outside mirrors. well, I do have a problem with depth perception...so I took it back, figuring as it was no more damaged than last time, that it could be glued. once again, Maxine--as on the past 2 visits--could not have been nicer. she remembered me. lol presently an older gent came out. we went out and he took one quick look at the mirror and said it had to be replaced. wha??? 'its a safety issue.' he continued to make that point over and over. I asked: is a passenger side outside mirror required in tn? 'well, i'm not a lawyer so I can't say.' come on, guy, you've been doing this sort of work since the earth cooled. the estimate? an eye-popping $314. so for this visit one star b/c of Maxine! at home I glued and taped the dang thing and hope it holds. however, get this. it might help you in the future: TN DOES NOT REQUIRE A PASSENGER SIDE OUTSIDE MIRROR. So were I gullible I would have been out $314. that is about a third of my monthly social security check. I may call the manager and have a chat. in fact I will. read more

Joe Stewart body shop is the most unreliable, unresponsive, and disrespectful body shop I have ever done business with. I dropped my car off a week 1/2 ago and ever since then I have regret my decision. My service advisor is Lawrence and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. He has provided no information on when my vehicle be ready or if it has even been processed for repair. One of my biggest concerns is their lack of communication. They will hold your car for a week and never return your calls or give you an update. I've tried calling many times just to get very rude and disrespectful responses that never answer my questions or concerns regarding my vehicle. I have never had such a terrible experience when dealing with a auto service provider. I was advised by my Mercedes-benz service advisor to utilize Joe Stewart body shop for my repairs and it was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. Maxine greets you with a smile, uses your name as often as she can, and finds out whatever information you need. For my specific case, I was lucky enough to have Kenny as my "go to" guy. He was fantastic. He called back. He answered the phone. He was responsive. He was knowledgeable. It. was. AWESOME! Being a female, you are always worried about what you are going to walk into when it comes to servicing your vehicle. With Joe Stewart, that fear never even entered my mind. I was never once worried that the car wouldn't be right, and I am grateful they were able to get my car (with well over $5k worth of damage) back to me in under a month!!! Thank you SO much!! I rarely ever do this but very aggravated. Accident 6 weeks ago. Car was to be ready last Friday but said ready today. 3:30 and going to pick it up when I find out "more parts are needed". I called back after stewing a few and ask since the car has been there for 5 weeks why wasn't it noticed. I was told the "tech missed it" and another week at least. Then he has the nerve to say "I have a whole lot of high end cars waiting to be fixed because we don't have enough techs to do them right". His words. Not mine. It is high-end in that it's a Porsche. But it's a bumper they are fixing, not a nuclear warhead. Stay away unless you want two months in a loaner. read more

I will first provide the preface for this experience: It was my birthday, I had my 2 kids in the car, driving home, some knucklehead decided they needed to be in my lane of travel more than I did, so I swerved to avoid the accident - happy birthday, sucker! In so avoiding the accident, I skid and hit a high curb at a pretty good clip, with the wheel cranked to the right - impacting pretty squarely on the driver's side front wheel. Needless to say, the suspension and wheel on the driver's side was FURBAR, and given the rate of travel and the fact that it was a high curb and low-sitting car the engine cradle and driver's side frame rail caught a good knock, too. This is what I knew before the car ever even went into the shop, and actually told the rep I spoke to the next day all that I was 100% certain was wrong. I guess the rep I talked to thought how could some schmuck that has enough money for a BMW have enough car know-how to know what was wrong, because he utterly dismissed me - turned out, I was dead on plus a couple minor things. Reading the website and the one other review on this site, one would think: "This is the preeminent place to take my BMW." One would be correct, if one has more money than sense, and their BMW is a secondary vehicle and not a daily driver. This body shop TAKES FOREVER. It took them 2 weeks just to "find space" for my car (I should have trusted my gut when I had the inkling to pull it from the shop after a week went by and they still didn't know what was "wrong" with it), then another 6 weeks to actually work on it. Not only did they have my car for 8 weeks, but they managed to outright lie to me - blaming the lies on an "inexperienced service worker who didn't understand what was wrong with the car or where it was in the repair process." I'm sorry, but lies are excused by inexperience or failure to DO YOUR JOB and go look/ask someone about the status of the car? I think not! I'm all for someone taking my $50,000 vehicle and rehabbing it to brand new; however, the excessive amount of time, coupled with the lies and/or excuses as to why the job was not getting completed has sullied any and every positive opinion I have of this place. So, I will say that it seems they do quality work (the wheels haven't fallen off, yet), and the staff I've dealt with have been cordial - even if not truthful - for the most part. That said, in no way, shape or form will I give them a dime more of my business or a second more of my time. The only reason I gave them 1 star is because I have to assign some value and negative isn't an option. So do be aware that if you take your vehicle here, you better plan on not seeing it for weeks on end, especially if it actually requires some real work to be done. I wish I would have had a review like this about the truthful nature of this shop before sending my vehicle there and being subjected to this headache and inconvenience. read more

I would give 0 or negative if I could but that is not an option here. First let me start with the customer service/staff. It is terrible. They are inexperienced and will lie to you. You can call and call about your car in hopes of getting an answer-a week will turn into 3 months. Your only hope is to bypass the workers and only deal with the manager himself. Yes correct 3 months without your vehicle who has that kind of time??? Now to put things in perspective their attitude is this-you bring it in for the situation to get fixed. You arrive and it gets damaged while they have had it during the 3 months. Who is responsible? Well Joe Stewart body shop says you are!!! How can this be you ask-me either!!!! How can I put scratches on my car when I don't even have it? The staff was very careless putting my car back together. I was forced to take my car even though I told them I was not satisfied with the work due to problems staff did while in their care. Now 3 months later, many headaches and nightmares the problem continues. The original problem is fixed but the damage the body shop did now has to be felt with. If you choose this body shop-take lots of pics of your car-of places that are perfect!!!!(bumpers,door panels,seats,etc). You will need proof. Otherwise choose somewhere else. Don't be fooled by any awards this place has won. I will never go back except to get what they tore up fixed. I hope this saves others headaches, time and money. read more

I was in an accident on December 27th 2016, I drive a 2008 Benz, the drivers side was hit and damaged from the front end to the rear bumper. My car was at Joe Stewart Body Shop for 77 days and I had to call over and over for updates and they blamed the insurance company. Now after 77 days my doors are not lined up properly my handles don't work and the front driver door does not close all the way. My rear view mirrors no longer work. Not to mention they did not fix the rocker panel. they said it was on the shelf and they did not notice the damage. Also they charged me out of pocket for painting my rear bumper and they told me someone hit it after it was painted and left a dent in the side. I have to take my car back to them but will it really make a difference NO terrible job and service done by them I hear the other location is better read more

If no star option was available that is what I would rate Joe Stewart. My car was supposed to be in for 2-3 weeks. I kept being told it would be ready the next week. Then the insurance company was going to stop paying for my rental car and Joe Stewart people told me they would take care of it. I was just charged $782 on my credit card, my car took 7 weeks to repair and I only got it back because I demanded I pick it up...and they still tried to keep it for another day. The service was one of the worst I have ever experienced, absolutely horrible. They refuse to pay for the rental car or take any responsibility for the excess time taken to repair my car. I took my car to Joe Stewart on 3/12/18 -- more than 3 1/2 months ago -- and they still have not completed the repairs! Their service rep., Tim, is very rude and has not called me one time with an update. Every time I call him he claims they found more damage and blames the insurance company for the delay. One of my co-workers was in an accident yesterday and not at fault so we had our company vehicle towed to Joe Stewart's Body Shop. They gathered my info and told me they would be sending an estimate. The next morning I was sent paperwork via email to sign authorizing them for complete repair authorization. The paperwork was very clear in it's terminology and there was zero confusion on this end. I told the gentleman via email I simply wanted an estimate and he said he could not touch my vehicle without that form being signed. I called up there to let them know I would be picking the van up and taking it elsewhere and I needed to settle up on the tow truck bill since they paid the truck on my behalf the day before. After speaking with the gentleman who I had been communicating with, I was placed on hold and "disconnected" twice during calls. I called a third time to let them know what I wanted and after several minutes on hold it hung up on me again so I went up there. When I got there I let them know why I was there and I sat in the lobby waiting. After several minutes of confusion I told them I was simply there to pick up my vehicle and I wanted to get the heck out of there. The tow truck was already on the way at this point. She called me in her office and started to berate me on how I was impatient and not giving them enough time to give me an estimate. I told her that wasn't the issue and what her employee Landon had told me about needing the authorization paperwork signed and she responded "well I simply don't believe he said that." I told her it was via email and if she didn't believe me I could show her on my phone where he said that and I proceeded to show it to her. She responded with "I don't care what it says" and at that point I was already frustrated so I lost my cool a bit and gave them a piece of my mind in a not so friendly manner. I told her to run my credit card and get my van key and she said she didn't have to do anything. At this point the entire lobby was filled with customers who overheard all of this. Eventually she ran my credit card in anger because I called her company out on wanting authorizations to bill insurance companies for repairs that they haven't even quoted. Once she finished processing my credit card she told me that I better hope the van gets picked up today or she would be charging me for a 30 day hold fee. I told her the tow truck was already on the way and would be there in a few minutes and she responded "good, well you can go outside and sit in that hot van and get out of this office" - Numerous customers in the lobby had left by this point and I could tell one was turned off by the situation. I proceeded to go outside and wait for the tow truck and when it arrived he asked me about what happened and he agreed that this wasn't the best shop to take my vehicle to. On top of that, I got a call an hour later from this same shop saying they were ready to run my credit card for the tow charge. I told them I already handled it up there and not to call me back. I have since taken to another shop who is able to give me an estimate before making me sign authorization for repair orders. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I would highly recommend any place other than Joe Stewart's body shop if you want professionalism. read more

Ordinarily I don't do reviews positive or negative. I'm making an exception this time. Enough is enough. I cannot post 0 stars or something recommending to JUST STAY AWAY. I love that one customer posting says she got her car back in under a month - it should not have taken near that long to begin with. My first experience with Joe Stewart was with my M6. I ask Roadshow who were the certified BMW body shops around town, they stated only Joe Stewart. I took the car in to have some rock chips repaired on the hood and roof of the car - just painted. This was in December. When I finally got the car back in February, it looked like they had buffed my Mfreaking6 with steel wool!!! WTF???? They had buffed the paint off of all the emblems on the car. I made them replace those, but then had to pay an additional $500 to Roadshow to get the finish restored on the paint. They acted like I was out of my mind and I was the one with the problem for being upset that my German supercar looked like it came off a We Tote the Note lot after driving it through a pea gravel tornado!!! My next and most recent experience (which is incidentally still going on) with them is after my X3 was broken into. It needed the DS window replaced, DSF door painted and some plastic bits replaced on the front and rear doors. I took the car to Roadshow who sent it to Joe Stewart. After 2 weeks I called for a status. They had not even started working on it, blaming the insurance company - who I called and they recommended I not use Joe Stewart due to issues such as this and that Joe Stewart hadn't called them to let them know they had it until that day (after I called them). Stewart assured me they would get right on it. A week later I called to check status. "Waiting on parts," they tell me, "Maybe next week". The next day I called the parts department where they ordered them from, they didn't order the parts until after I had called for an update the day prior. Finally, this week I get my car back (almost 4 weeks to the day into it). The car still had broken glass in it, the woodwork and console looked as though it had been wiped with an oily rag, the center storage area was sticky, and only the side of the car that that was repaired looked like it had been washed - not to mention a new scratch on the bumper. That's just the cosmetics. The door lock button doesn't work, and stays activated - causing electrical issues draining the battery giving errors about the battery not charging while stopped. BRAND new X3 with not even 5K miles on it and they've successfully jacked it up. It is now back at Roadshow for repairs of what they hosed as they will never touch another car of mine again. They tell me they earned their good reputation and their best tech did the repairs- seems to me every review I have read but 1 is similar. I tried to write off the initial experience with it being a one off; however they tell me that their BEST tech worked on my car. They are clearly just another Summer Ave. chop shop and I do not know how they maintain their BMW certification. I intend to write BMWNA, Mercedes, and Roadshow and find out. To give you an idea of good service - Superior Autobody in Collierville repaired my 3 series after I got rear-ended by an old farm truck. The entire rear of the car was gone - I learned all about crumple zones. Not only did they do the work and have my near totaled car back to me in ~2 weeks, my friend even stopped to ask me if it was even my car or if had they replaced it. It looked better than it did when I bought it. They in turn, instead of sitting on it for weeks before they went about contacting anyone, made sure I was in the loop every step of the way. DO NOT use Joe Stewart for ANYTHING unless you just are okay with being without your car for extended periods and being okay with fixing anything they hose on your own. They have the attention to detail of a 4 year old child and outside of the lovely lady who works the front, treat you like you're bugging them or in the way and shrug off any complaints and walk away.
