I wanted to follow up on my earlier review (6 months ago). I'm about 1 & 1/2 years into acupuncture, from dealing with arthritis and scoliosis of the lower back. Alisa Galvin has been amazing! Sessions include acupuncture, followed by quiet rest, then a short massage. I have really learned to relax, and my pain has greatly diminished. The best thing is that Alisa tweaks her treatment as time goes by, and the results just continue to get better. I had a session this morning, then went through a workday, and this afternoon, it dawned on me how good my back felt! For almost two decades, I have been going regularly to a wonderful masseuse in La Mesa. Because she is so good, getting an appointment with her can be impossible unless it is booked far in advance. However, occasionally I need an emergency treatment. Therefore, sometime last year, I decided that I would find a nearby emergency masseuse. Thankfully I happened to find Joel's. I like very deep massages, and I have not been disappointed at Joel's, especially with Abigail, whom I saw last week. I really needed to put a thank you in for Dr. Schlesinger. I've had past doctors and therapist reduce or eliminate my pain and spasms, Dr. Casey and Dr. Zhao are wonderful practioners here as well, Dr. Schlesinger is the first doctor to allow for increase of range of motion, and for a time an elimination of pain. Today the morning after my treatment is was able to perform massage using my right arm. A friend of mine recommended for me to see Sarah at Joel's Clinic. Let me just say, It was amazing! Sarah has magical hands and is extremely knowledgable in the art of massage. I am in constant back pain and require deep work. Sarah knew the exact points to hit, and how to alleviate the pain. She literally walked me into the room, and then, closed the sliding door and gave me zero instructions. -There wasn't great privacy. I don't really care, but every other massage place I have been to is very careful not to expose your breasts or have the door open while you are not fully clothed. Again, that was not my experience here. Instead of a sheet to cover my body on the massage table, they gave me a body sized towel that really only covered my butt if I put it horizontally. Then, she came in as I was getting dressed, and I was in my bra, and she went to get me water with the door open. Overall, it was a good massage, and if I was in a pinch, I would return, but I'm honestly pretty surprised this place has all 5 star reviews, most of which are super recent, given I know others would be much more bothered by my experience than I was.

He will not work on the whole body just like the typical massage because he will focus on your pain area but oh boy whatever he does works very well. Had my first session with Rebecca today and it was outstanding. I had some stiffness in my lower…read moreback that's been limiting my movement for the past 2 weeks. My wife scrambled online to find me a highly rated massage therapist with next day availability and that's how she found Rebecca. I opted for the 60 min/cupping as I have never done it before so I was real excited. She briefly talked about the procedure and 10-15 mins into the massage she applied the cups with the right amount of suction. It was a little strange but not uncomfortable. She kept those cups on while she worked on my legs and feet. She definitely hit some spots I didn't know I needed. Ultimately I walked outta there feeling great. I don't have a regular massage therapist, but I'd like to be a repeat customer. Thanks again Rebecca! Btw her dog is real sweet!
