He set up an appointment for a couple hours later but something came up and had to change the time the same day and arrived when he said he would. He was nice enough to notify me of the time change if ok with me. The work was done on the day and time as set up between us, did a very good job, respectful and courteous. Job was done in amount time stated, clean up was very good. Nothing left in back yard or in the street in front. I liked the price and think it was a good price for what was done. Be very cautious if considering Joel's Tree Service. They entered my private property without permission and climbed a 30+ foot tree entirely within my property line. When I confronted them, they ignored me and continued removing limbs until I called the police. Four employees were in my fenced yard, all claiming to follow orders from their boss but refusing to disclose any company information or proof of licensing. When asked about trespassing, they brushed it off, showing little regard for property lines or boundaries. Unfortunately, by the time the police arrived, they had damaged an old-growth tree that provided essential shade and privacy. In the process, they also damaged surrounding trees and landscaping, 100% within my property. The officers advised calling an attorney to address what has now become a civil issue. For anyone considering tree services, vet contractors carefully and avoid those whose employees practice disregarding legal and personal boundaries. read more

The fact I have a crazy life prevents me from remembering to write reviews, especially positive reviews for businesses that provide EXCELLENT service. I called Joel's Tree Service 2 years ago to remove dead trees that were about to fall down. Ended up having to remove about 7 of them, and Jim (the man you want to talk too) was super accommodating with my schedule and was far more personal than 2 other companies who came out, one which neighbors swear by. (fyi, don't trust your neighbors, get 3 bids and go with who shows up on time, and who is the most down to earth, not cocky, as price means nothing when you are building a business relationship) Then about a year ago I had a 40+ foot tall tree lose a huge branch that could have damaged property had it fallen 10-feet to the right. I called Jim and he charged only $1,800 to remove the HUGE 40+ foot tree and remove all the branches. Other companies wanted $3k so obviously Joel's Tree Service is going to dominate this market, so why even bother calling other companies. Absolutely Incredible. We had 23 overgrown tall Queen Palms that were neglected for 3 years. I called Joel's tree service to schedule an appointment for an estimate. He showed up on time and gave me a very reasonable price for our 23 palms. We scheduled a date for the pruning and a large crew showed up right on time. They completed the job, then spent a couple hours cleaning up the entire yard. They even cleaned our pool of tree trimmings. Do not use this tree service!!! Totally ripped off my grandma's rod-iron $300.00 bench that was in her yard. The crew claimed to have "moved" the bench to a specific spot in my grandma's yard, however we've looked EVERYWHERE and still no bench. Such a scam! Very rude street boss and a liar too. I politely asked him to move his huge truck off my curb (here in Sacramento, we pay for these damages) and asked him to park in front of the neighbor whose trees he was servicing (who has a HUGE corner lot with lots of space.). He said ok. When I backed out of my driveway 15 or 20 minutes later, the truck was still there. When I asked him whether he was going to move his truck, he said he would. When I got home several hours later, the truck was still there. When he saw l was writing down the number and website, he came over and asked what the problem was. I said "you said you would move your truck and he said, "well, what are you going to do about it?" Hired Joel's tree service three times. Crew seems unable to show up on time, but they all work very hard with the except of the owner. First job was reasonably priced, but it went downhill from there. Third job was estimated to take a day, but finished in under 2-3 hours and Joel was unwilling to acknowledge that he overbid the job and reduce the price. We ended up paying our fair share, but we won't be doing future business with him as he is deceitful in his business practices over time we found.
