This place is fun to wander through (in the daylight!!! It does have a little bit of a dank basement feel-not for the faint of heart) because it's full of stuff you would find at garage sales, your grandmothers basement/attic, or a museum of 1950-2000's articles. Hey you never know, you could find something rare worth hundreds! About 8 years ago I bought a old '70's bike there, and it served me well for about 4 years. I've also purchased some rustic and vintage house decorations there for DIY projects. They are always up for bargaining and that's half the fun. Some of the stuff there is plain weird and I'm not sure who would buy it...but its a fun thing to do with someone and maybe even reminisce about being an '80s or '90s kid when you stumble across that furby toy. Since craigslist has caught on a lot more in Omaha I wonder if it's made business tight for these collectable guys in the old market and downtown. Im guessing they still do ok because downtown real estate and rent cant be cheap and they're still around! I would recommend it as a fun thing to do when visiting the old market.

Joe is a nice guy and plays good music, but Chloe, his dog, is the star of this show. Not easy to find, Joe's is down a back alley just south of Jackson Street and behind Jackson Street Tavern (see my review) in the Old Market area, so just follow the signs. Dark and somewhat disorganized, you will find anything from treasures and trash in this massive collection of stuff. Clothes, books, knick-knacks, VHS, 8-track and cassette tapes ... you name it, Joe's got it! And the prices are very reasonable. I paid just 50¢ each for 5 cassette tapes and my wife paid only $3 for two antique books. The highlight of the visit was Joe's dog Chloe. She sits on top of the counter and accepts hugs and stroking from virtually any stranger. She even wears glasses and poses for photos with customers, having been featured in an October 2016 Omaha magazine ("Encounter") spread. Chloe gives hugs and otherwise accepts all of the affection you can muster, so stop by to see Chloe (she's 12) if nothing else. CombatCritic Gives Joe's Collectibles 9 Bombs Out Of 10 ... We will miss the old market place as we too have gotten older and don't drive too far from home here in Iowa.

If you're looking for a collectible and can't find something here...you're not looking hard enough…read more Lol This store is in the Old Market district of Omaha and was almost overwhelming. At points in my life I have collected comic books, other comic book related items, movie related merchandise, and diecast. This place has all that and more...! Shop smart and take your cell phone to stare and compare. I found a few items reasonably priced, but I found quite a few more that were well above what they could be purchased for online including shipping. One thing about collectibles though... Sometimes it's worth a few dollars more to have it in your hands. I've been surprised a few times when I received items that weren't as described or packaging was damaged in transit. Antiques and collectibles are a different market as a buyer... If you see something you want it's better to buy it right then if it's priced within reason. You may never find that same item again... Old Market is what Old Market is... It's geared to tourists and things are often a little high priced in areas like this. So is their rent usually... These areas attract a high volume of people and if you don't want to pay the marked price...someone who comes in right behind you just might. Some of the items here are a little dusty, but I guess that's to be expected with that many surfaces. Pretty hard to stay on top of all of it... The Imaginarium Old Market Mercantile is defintely worth the stop if you are into collectibles and/or nostalgia!

I felt like it was a little overwhelming for my taste, but I could see how if you really liked one of the collections they have how you would be super excited to find this spot.

Let's get this out of the way first: it's a little out of the way. You gotta go down a side street…read moreyou've probably never taken before, then you've got to go around to the back of the building. But it's worth looking for, as you'll probably find something you didn't know you were looking for. What sets Among Other Things apart from all the other shops selling vintage and consignment stuff for the home is that their collection is well-curated. You won't find cheap craft crap; you'll find cool stuff from throughout the last, oh, 120 years or so. Any of it would look good in a well-appointed home. And thank heavens, they haven't completely jumped on the mid-century trend as most other such places have. From chairs to rugs to cards, there's something here for anyone with good taste. (I picked up a fairly recent photography coffeetable book at a reasonable price.) There's also an adjoining women's vintage clothing store (unfortunately, nothing for guys). While the location might be a little tough to find at first, it's one to put on your radar. (And not far from NFM, so any time you're thinking of visiting them, stop by here, too.)

Especially when you can find comparable items at a thrift store. As a result some items have been there for quite some time. I love that she also carries some local artists' works. But again, overpriced for what they are. The store is quite crowded, I don't think a stroller could fit through some of the walking paths. I worry about bringing my big purse in. Overall, it's a fun place to peruse, but after many visits, I've yet to pull the trigger on buying anything.

If it's that part to that thing sitting in your garage, that your grandpas grandpa left you in the will... the piece to fix it is probably here. I've gotten so many cool thing's from here it's ridiculous. I've left happy every time with a boost of dopamine that nothing can touch, and the token box you get to carry it in isn't all too bad either. From wedding jewelry, to cookie jars, to coffee pots, and church hats. I've gotten beer openers, old signs, shirts, jackets, lamps, and dishware. If you're in the area, come and immerse yourself, take a stroll, get googly eyed at all of the collectibles. Don't miss out on that thing you never knew you might need!

I will say they have some items that they label as vintage or simply older. It was weird seeing the same brand of dinner plates labeled as vintage on one of the shelves. I appreciate that there are so many different booths with different kinds of items inside; trinkets, clothes, music, baskets. The thing I still think about here is the ability to carry around a basket OR place the basket into a metal buggy!
