Pretty fun time for the kids. Came with a travel ball team after their game a few miles away and the kids had a great time. I believe it was around $40 for two 16 lap runs. First one they all start out of the pits and the second run, they line up on the track. They let 8 kids race at one time, which I think is too much because it got pretty crowded and the kids got into a few wrecks. Pretty cool with the leaderboard showing the stats and during the race. Workers were friendly and on top of things. They were paying attention at all times and ran out really quickly when karts were stopped or there was a wreck. If you're bored, it's probably pretty fun to come out and try to beat the best time of the day or your personal best. read more

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Some riders are a bit rough. Maybe they need to reinforce the black flag more. The gas smell...it's not as bad as others say it is. The carts run off gas so the smell has to be assumed. But I was there for over 2 hours and was perfectly fine. It is a bit expensive but the carts are awesome. A fun activity over in council bluffs by the AMC. Definitely geared towards adults. Karts go up to 45mph. Go to their website to look at the pricing first it's pretty steep for a casual activity just don't let your self be surprised. Closed toed shoes are required. There is an area to watch the races while you wait or if you have folks not racing with you. They have ventilation but it was pretty fumey inside and we had to step outside a few times. Each race is first to 16 laps which takes 5-10 minutes. There are computers to sign a waiver and take your picture for your racer stats. Then you pay and they get you all set up. There is a place to put your stuff while racing. Everyone in our group had a fun time and there was some friendly competition happening. They throw up the stats on the screen after the race with your pictures and there is a podium to take pictures. They have vending machines if you need a snack but no food court. read more

My daughter and I go see movies at the nearby AMC often and she's always wanted to go here and try it out so we went last week. We walked in and I registered us both before heading up to the counter. I didn't realize that kids prices are the same as the adult prices, even though she's just riding with me. I assumed they'd be discounted a little bit but they aren't. So coming here with a child could get a little pricey. It was just something I didn't expect. My daughter is only 8 so she can't ride by herself just yet so she just rode in a two seater with me. She had the option to steer while I was using the gas/brake, which I thought was cool and she enjoyed it a bit. Those little go-karts are tough to steer at times. My arms were tired after doing our 20 or so laps. If I had a hard time with it, I know my daughter did. But it was really fun. You go pretty fast and my daughter had a lot of fun. With all of that said, we are definitely going back here. It was only $10 a piece for a year to not have to pay the $5 per person track fee every time we go so that is some savings. read more

We went with a large group of kids between the ages of 11 and 13. The guys that run the place were patient and friendly. The building is clean and well lit. The karts are in decent shape, both the seat and pedals are adjustable for reach. I drove a few races in different karts each time. There's some big differences in performance between them. Came in with my significant other, and my sister and her significant other for a fun Saturday. The staff were overall polite and respectful. Our 1st of 3 races was great. Minor bumping is expected when people go to pass and with the constant turns. This was not an issue and the 1st race was great and very fun. The 2nd race, we were paired with different customers. During the second race, there was significantly more bumping, and on personal spun me out and his buddy T-boned me at full speed. I did not take notice to this as I just assumed it was an accident. On the 3rd and final race, we were with the same group. During this race, 2 racers were blatantly running into all of the drivers, running them into walls, and spinning people out. This was intentional and on purpose. They did not receive a single warning or black flag. Additionally, clearly stated on the wall of rules, passing is prohibited during a yellow flag. These 2 individuals continuously passed after a yellow flag was drawn due to their negligence. I now am having neck and low back pain. While I signed a waiver of liability, this is null and voided if the employees/moderators are not holding everyone to the same set of rules and standards. When confronting the employees at the end of the race, we were all given blank stares while they looked at the driver who was grinning ear to ear. In our opinion, it looks as if they either were employees themselves, or knew the other employees. Joe's Karting is a blast, but if the employees are not engaged enough or do not care enough to hold up the safety rules, someone is going to be very badly injured, or worse. The "operations manger" asked me to email him about this experience more than 3 months ago. I never received a response. read more

Went to Joe's Karting the day before Thanksgiving for a small group function. It was 12 of us and Joe's opened early so we could go in and race against one another. When you arrive, you'll fill out a "racer" profile on the computer. Once registered, the staff will take your photo, pay your money, get your safety brief and get ready to race. Six (6) people are able to race at a time. Each race is 15 laps around a decent sized course. Karts were surprisingly fast. Staff was very helpful and informative. Everybody got to race twice and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I would rate the cost to be moderate to expensive based upon what you are accustomed to. One race is $15.00, two races $28.00, three race pack $40.50 plus you have to pay a $3 daily membership fee if you don't have an annual membership ($7.00). Group rates for 10+ members are available in advance Karts are loud, there are some fumes and your clothes will smell like gas, but that's racing. Enjoyed the activity and would go back, but would look to maximize discounts in order to cut costs. read more

Terrible customer service. A rider swerved in front of me which led to my leg being stuck under the sideline. I was kicked off the race and was completely disregarded as the race started again without me. Employees told me to speak to the manager and the first thing he told me was they don't do refunds when I just wanted to finish my race. We had a team building event here and it was absolutely so much fun! I'm not a "go-carter" by any means! The last time I did something like this was when I was a teenager. Honestly, I didn't think it was really up my ally. But, my mind has changed for sure. I would highly recommend for a group. Upon arrival, the vintage vibe was the first thing I noticed..from the old race car body parts on the wall to the classic diner bench seating. The employees at the front called us over upon arrival and gave us instructions to sign in to one of their computers along the wall to enter your racing name and of course, accept the terms and conditions. One completed, they took individual headshots and we were given thin-like beanies to put on our heads under the helmets. Once our group was up, we were guided to an area where we were told the rules. No intentional crashing or slamming into other racers, if you were slow (me) they would wave a flag to suggest moving to the outside...and of course the white flag, which meant final lap. Once the 1st place finished, everyone else is signaled to the parking zone while the winner is handed a checkered flag to hold during their final lap. Once exiting your "Joe-Kart", they have everyone's photos on the screen and provide a print out of your performance. To top it off, our Race Coach (I just made up that title) offered to take a picture of our group on the track with one of our phones. What a blast and such a great opportunity to bond with co-workers. We went to Quaker Steak & Lube afterward, which by the way, you get 10% off if you mention Joes Karting. We went to Joe's Karting as part of a team-building exercise with my co-workers. Silly concept - in my opinion - but the guys in the office were really excited. We were a group of 12, and the place was pretty much empty when we showed up. We did all of the required signing procedures, grabbed helmets and headsocks, and waiting our turn. While carting, I discovered two things. Well, three. 1. My head is huge and helmets are oddly uncomfortable. 2. I am much too fat to try to lower myself into this tiny go-cart, and its even harder to try and get out. 3. And I'm no where near as good at go-carting as I had imagined. That being said, everyone (myself included) had a blast. We did three races. We were there maybe a little over an hour. Everyone was laughing and high on adrenaline by the time we got done. The staff treated us great, and I thought they were running the place quite well. There were some fun photo opportunities, as well. I doubt I'll go back - it simply wasn't my cup of tea, but overall it was a fun experience. read more

The karts, advertised as 9HP, vary wildly in power output and tire traction. In three track sessions I got one decent and two real dogs when it came to the karts. The track is quite small for the karts; it seems that they tried to shoehorn the business to fit the smallest available space. A track layout that is larger would be much better, as the karts tend to bunch up when there are eight or so drivers out at a time. read more

FUN FUN FUN!!! Council Bluffs has just a couple of things to offer someone like me. Joes Karting is one of them. Although be careful getting in and out of the cars as its easy to burn yourself on the rear engine. People of all ages were there and all seemed to have this great smile after each race. Great deals on racing too. We paid 42$ for 45 laps!!! 3 separate 15 lap races really took a lot more endurance than you would think. I have been here 2 times in the past but only raced one set of 15 laps. The next day I felt as though I got an upper body work out. I cant wait to go back. read more

I was really nervous to go here after reading the reviews. Joes Karting deserve a lot more praise. I am by no means an avid go karter and maybe that makes a huge difference, but the employees explained things very clearly (I was worried about driving them or going the wrong way), they were very patient with me (I was scared to race but my husband made me), they even told me how to get the best rate (you get a discount if you go during your birthday month!). I only made like 9 laps of the 16 or so and that was ok with me. I am NOT a racer but I had a really good time. No one cared that I went slow. No one was rough (I got bumped twice but it's because I was going slow and probably in the path and couldn't be avoided). There is a place to put your belongings and I felt like the staff kept that area guarded well. It was a really nice treat to do something my hubby loved and get my adrenaline going! read more

Came here with a large group and had a BLAST! We started off with instructions and all were understandable. As a lawyer, I know how important safety is. My only complaint is that my name kept coming up to drive races back to back and by the fourth one I was over it. But I thoroughly enjoyed it otherwise. Round one I came in 5th place, 3rd place twice and the fourth time I was last (because I was tired) ha ha. This is definitely a no frills place, but you're here to drive fast and beat other people, so who cares! They have vending machines, helmets and as one of our group called them - head socks to put on before the helmet. You take a photo and sign a waiver and your face shows what group you will be racing with on several small tv screens. The best part is the fact that your results print off after each race and are emailed to you! You see your car number, position and pro score. Make sure to bring a coat as it's chilly out on the track. I'd also suggest gloves and you can't drive if you have on open toed shoes. Would definitely return. Good times. read more

This is one of my favorite go karting places here. I admit It is one of the only places in the Midwest for it but it works. I don't understand the bad reviews here. The karts go fast! They must have upgraded them since. I don't expect any other go kart to go ABOVE 60MPH. Lmao it's funny people complain about just their personal complaints like seat size and things that most people don't care about. I was planning on bringing my best friend here who was visiting... but looking at the prices, I'd rather take her to the zoo. $15 for ONE race, BUT you also have to have a $3 annual pass or a $7 annual pass. Apparently you have to commit extra money for an annual pass you likely won't be using. You're looking at at least $18 for one race here. This place is a scam. I've never heard of a karting track that charges these outrageous prices. I'll drive to Denver to visit my friend next time and we'll kart somewhere affordable (never thought I'd say that, it's usually reversed). read more

Used to enjoy it a lot more before they slowed the karts down even more. Anyone that drives karts with any regularity will be bored pretty quickly. Staff is generally young, often inattentive and even sometimes unsafe (i.e. running out on track without flags to pull stuck karts off the wall. About took a kid's legs out because he did exactly that.) Kart performance is unpredictable as well. Often end up with a total dog. Generally nice folks, but boring karts and a boring track. read more

I waited in line for ten minutes to find out I had to go further into the place to create an account on a computer and then come back to the front desk area. This was my fist time at Joes Karting and will probably be my last. The employees were not very welcoming and frankly, were quite useless. The karts were nice and went pretty fast compared to other places I've been to however, Joes was also very pricy. You have to pay for a one year membership that costs $7 plus $13.50 for a "13" lap race and the only race we were able to do was with two regular customers who drove rather recklessly. They finished their 13 laps before any of us could finish even 8. I do not recommend for any casual users who just want to have fun for a fair price. Last night myself and three friends drove from 30 minutes away to race at Joe's. Upon our arrival, we were approached in the parking lot by a male employee who made it blatantly clear our business was not wanted nor valued. We were unable to even enter the building as he stood in front of the doors essentially explaining to us the reasons why we shouldn't race tonight. We arrived 45 minutes before close and explained to the employee that we only planned on racing once. He went on to essentially complain that he had already organized for closing and that waiting to race wouldn't be worth our time in a blatant attempt to make his night easier, rather than cater to four paying customers. Myself and my three friends wondered why Joe's Karting, having clearly stated hours, would for all intents and purposes deny business. We also wondered how or if the situation would've been different had the owner been present during the interaction, as it is completely contrary to the nature of a business persuade customers not to purchase their service. It was especially insulting that the employee was so obvious about his laziness being the motivation for persuading us not to spend our money here. Overall our experience tonight left us all feeling extremely awkward, as if we were in the wrong for attempting to provide Joe's Karting with our business. While we have raced here before and enjoyed the experience, I can say for certain that I will not bring my business back to Joe's and will share my experience with others until this issue is addressed. read more

We brought our baseball team in so kids and dads could have a fun experience together. After paying the outrageous fee to ride we got our quick 3 second briefing about the flags they use. While racing our group was having fun until one of our racers crashed. They stopped the race and made us get off the track. We then were told to take off our helmets as one of the workers screamed and hollered at us about how fast we were going???? This guy was absolutely hysterical and honestly none of the adults or kids in our group knew what we had done wrong. I'm not talking a little mad, he was over the top irrational, red faced, and spitting while he talked angry with us. We were not being reckless and crashing into each other, we were just racing. If they don't want people racing then they shouldn't have a screen showing you who was in 1st-3rd place! While waiting on our second race the hysterical worker disappeared and I went to speak with who was either the owner or manager about the situation. If we had broken a rule I wanted to make sure our kids knew not to do it during our next race. He stated that some of the guys working had pet peeves and although he was strict when working the track he was also fair, implying that the workers were out of line for the way they treated us. During our second race we had a new worker that replaced the crazy guy. We raced exactly the same and had no issues this time. After our race was finished one of the workers got into a car to test it because one of our kids complained it was not turning correctly. He gases it and while making a turn he went through the barrier and hit a wall extremely hard. All the workers ran to see if he was okay. He was but why would you step on the gas so hard to test something that might have a broken steering wheel? Anyhow, the whole experience was weird and the crazy guy was completely out of line. If any of our kids had misbehaved our group of parents would reprimand them. We are not the type of parents to make excuses for the kids behavior so I can't make an excuse for the workers at this facilities. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional workers.
