But there I was, so here is what it's like. This place breaks all 3 of my rules for bars. I've always said 1) no sticky floors, 2) no 50 gallon trash cans, and 3) no plastic cups. Well, it has all 3. So there's that. Security at the door searches everyone with a metal detecting wand. There's a cover. There's a mechanical bull. There's a stage with a gaggle of people doing indiscernible shit that appears to be some kind of musical performance but I literally am not sure. There is cigarette smoke in the air. There are people stumbling around attempting to socialize who I feel are unlikely to remember a lot of this tomorrow. The drinks are cheap and pretty bad, the crowd is at that stage of their lives where they are mystified by being out late at night in loud, dark, crowded places where seedy vibes are in the air. I'd be willing to bet you could score a variety of drugs in the place if that was your thing. The odds seemed pretty high just going off the vibes. Overall it was...an experience. He sent me to another person (promoter or manager) who rudely yelled that he had five bands to pay and there are no refunds (partial or otherwise). I heard not a single group and left with less than 18 dollars in my pocket. I'm no stranger to bars (having played in Birmingham area rock groups for many years) or "Crush" (having played there when it was Louie Louies) and I empathize slightly with the situation. But his behavior was rude and uncalled for. I suggest that if you visit "Crush," ask many questions about why you are paying so high a cover price AND ask when the performances begin.
