I finally got to check out Bygones! My friend and I went for a late night bite and a cocktail, and we sat at the bar. The service was quick and the hospitality was unmatched. They have a food truck that I've heard wonderful things about and I ordered the chicken Caesar salad. It was almost like a chopped Caesar salad and it was just the right amount for a small girl dinner. If you like Parmesan cheese, this is a must order as they do not skimp on that! What was really nice however was that you couldn't tell the food was from a food truck. It was great quality and you are able to order from inside the bar and they deliver it to you. That was a great service. I can't quite remember which cocktail I got, but it was very delicious and at one point the server had even given me a new chilled glass so my drink would remain cold as I sipped on it. This is definitely a great date night spot or just a place to grab a drink with friends, definitely a little more upscale as we were there in the evening, so the lights were dim. I won't drop my rating as it's spring time in the South but I remember being cold immediately as I walked in- but that's typical for a lot of places. read more

Birmingham gem alert! I'm struggling to think of another bar in town that matches Bygones in atmosphere. It is truly luxe here. From the quality of the cocktails to the decor to the matchbooks, they do it all right. Service is incredible, the bathrooms have uber fun wallpaper. It's an easy location to park at, although I encourage calling in a ride because you'll probably want to try 2 or 3 or 7 drinks. These are real, adult cocktails. No dirty Sprites, no rumplemintz & coke (is this just my friends?). Elevate you palette, try something new. This is certainly a spot you can go to for a romantic date night, post-work drinks with co-workers, bring family from out of town, etc. My recommendation is dinner at Epice nearby, then Bygones. I can't wait for the weather to warm up to hang out on the outdoor patio! So many good things in Birmingham, and this is one of the best. read more

Really enjoyed my first time at Bygones! Dropped in on an early Friday evening and it was the perfect place to grab a strong & tasty cocktail. I really like the space and vibe. The mixologist (bartenders) were very helpful & gave great suggestions. The music wasn't too loud and I was able to hold a conversation and we both hear each other. Also, it wasn't too crowded and felt like a cocktail bar. We had the Bygones Martini with Gin & the BANDOLERO. I wasn't sure I would like the BANDOLERO bc it had Tequila Reposado and 100° Rye Whiskey but I was wrong!! It was the perfect drink to sit and sip and enjoy great conversation!! "A taste of the past, in every sip!! This is a new cocktail bar on the Southside of Birmingham. It is a pretty place on the inside with seating at the bar as well as tables. There are also a few outside tables. The bartenders were great. You could tell they really cared about their customers and the cocktails they made. Really excited to see this new addition to the Birmingham bar scene. The guys that own the place have done a ton to make the place really evoke that speak easy vibe. One thing that I thought was a great decision was to add a window for food trucks to pull up and plug-in (this is a non-trivial feature as it takes the noise element out of a truck using a generator). When they told me they had done that they said it was wired for 220. I replied "220, 221 whatever it takes". Apparently they haven't seen Mr. Mom starring Michael Keaton and Teri Garr. They are committed to making truly craft cocktails. In order to do that, you have to make many of your own mixers. The good news is that they have picked six signature drinks to ensure they do the volume to keep all of those mixers moving at sufficient volume to be fresh all the time. In a similar vein, they are doing wine on tap. This is a far better way to go for most bars and restaurants to deliver great product at an affordable price. It eliminates so much waste and the product is as good or better than the vast majority of bottled options. My favorite place in Houston is '60 Vines' that does this exclusively. Besides how bottled wine is handled in transit, the cost of correctly storing it is quite large. Good decisions all around. read more

I feel so privileged to have been able to experience this new, stunningly atmospheric cocktail bar in downtown Birmingham. I very much appreciate their attention to every little detail from the matchbooks to the menu design to the curation of specialty cocktails. Perfection. And then there's the staff... they deserve special mention here. I've been to so many lounges where they make you feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you come in and buy drinks. But here, from the welcoming door guy to the hostess, you feel like a treasured guest. In fact, since it was such a beautiful evening, we opted to sit outside and after a few minutes, spent most of our time chatting with the door guy. It was such a fun experience and great to learn all about how Bygones came into existence. I opted for a glass of wine (they have a decent selection of wine and beer if you're not into the stronger stuff) and we had to make it a quick night, but I really yearned to stay longer. Yummy! We typically go very early in the evening, so it wouldn't be fair for me to speak to their ambiance. However, my drinks have always been delicious, and it is very clear that the bartenders are passionate about their menu. They are very knowledgeable, and always willing to talk through my preferences to help choose a drink. Many of them have even been able to name exactly where their ingredients are sourced from! I complimented a drink this summer, and the bartender took pride in telling me what farm the cantaloupe was from, how they processed the vanilla beans, etc.. It's about as farm-to-table as a cocktail can be. I do wish the menu was a tad longer. read more

I was so impressed with this little cocktail bar, until my visit last night My sister and I were getting ready to leave after drinking my two amaretto sours and her beer when Phillip placed a third amaretto sour in front of me and walked away fast. I was thinking I didn't order that but gave it to my sister to drink since she had only 1 I paid the bill for 4 drinks plus tips it was $66 dollars . My point to write this review is to make people aware of dirty practices in this cocktail bar. It was my first time coming to this bar. And we had gone out to eat for my dads birthday then came to Bygones for drinks. My parents had been here before but it was my wife and i's first time. Our drinks were good, strong. My drink came with a little shortbread doggy lol. It was so cute. I would love to see more of a variety of signature drinks on the menu, but overall, it was a nice little chill spot.
