I was staying in the area for 2 weeks, and I'm glad I found Johan's Joe near my hotel. Before coming here, the only time I've really tried Swedish food was at Ikea. With working overnight and getting back in the early morning, I would be craving "dinner" at 7am versus a breakfast spread. I found a lot of places selling breakfast at these early hours, but Johan's Joe was the only place I found that sold lunch items. On my first visit here, I got their Swedish meatballs platter and a lavender cardamom lemonade. I instantly fell in love. In fact, out of the 15 days of staying in West Palm Beach, I ate at Johan's Joe 11 times. Every single time I'd get a plate of Swedish meatballs. I also began to try out other items, like their waffles on the weekend, scrambled eggs, bacon, and soup. All fantastic. For beverages, I always got their lavender cardamom lemonade and later discovered the orange juice to be really good, too. How did I manage to eat Swedish meatballs 11 times in 2 weeks? I was curious, too. Upon reflecting, I realized how perfect the platter really is. It offers perfect balance. Let me explain: Texturally, there's a crispness from the pickled cucumbers, a slight pop from the whole lingonberries, a bounce from the meatballs, and creaminess from the mashed potatoes and gravy. The dish also has a mix of sweetness (lingonberries), tartness (pickled cucumbers), and salt (meatballs). There's even a mix of temperatures with the main platter being hot, while the lingonberries and cucumbers are cold. With only time to eat one meal a day, this turned out to have everything on one plate. Exactly what I craved and needed. The service here was very friendly, all the employees were polite and offered great service. It was also nice to see that there were also a handful of local regulars who I'd see every time. They definitely know how to create a welcoming and cozy spot. After leaving the area, I found myself actually missing this spot quite a bit. Stopped in and got the avocado toast. It was more so avocado on bread, but the flavor was good and I enjoyed the pumpkin seeds on top! Cute ambiance, lots of seating inside. Definitely on the pricier side. Would return to try more of their menu and try the breakfast sandwiches which they told me are more popular! read more

This is a cute place to meet for coffee or a meal. I asked for the bagel and cream cheese, with a boiled egg on the side. When it came they had put the cream cheese on the bagel with the egg on top. I was not expecting that. Typically you go somewhere and the cream cheese comes on the side and you do it yourself . They were very nice and remade it for me. The side of cream cheese was so minimal it was not enough for the bagel. Also they had sliced the hard boiled egg and I'd rather it be left whole. This is great place. One of my favorite coffee and lunch spots. The staff is always so friendly. The coffee is always delicious. They usually get a latte. The breakfast sandwiches are absolutely delicious. I personally like the Stockholm breakfast sandwich. My husband really likes the Lapland breakfast sandwich, which has smoked salmon on it. Traveling down in the cold weather to johans Joe restaurant for breakfast to see what the hype is about everybody loving the food . Of course you have stand in line and they give you a number and your food is brought out to you . I ordered cream cheese blueberry pastry that was delicious , but then I ordered the crepes with spinach and cheese and ask for mushrooms they didn't have any and potatoes on the side with sautéed onions and my order came out with raw onions on the plate omg really and my crepes had one slice of cheese with a few spinach leafs hardly any sauce. I really didn't enjoy this at all and the dish was very pricey. My husband enjoyed French toast 3 slices he ate nice portion.The tea was great jasmine and passion. Coffee was served in a huge mug, almost the size of a small bowl, and was piping hot. Oatmeal was served with a tin of brown sugar on the side, so that was fun. A Scandinavian brunch fits the bill before a performance at the Kravis Center. It's 3 mins away by car with a free parking lot directly behind the restaurant. The restaurant was very modern and clean with lots of cozy seating. We walked past a wall of Swedish jams, crackers, food ... items for sale. The counter was filled with lots of irresistible Swedish pastries at the counter. We ordered at the counter, paid , sat down with a number & our meal came quickly. I enjoyed a savory crêpe. It was filled with a smoky ham, cheese, and fresh spinach with a small salad on the side. It was delicious, very satisfying, and reasonably priced with more than enough food. Biggest rip off. I went this morning and paid for the two others I was with. We had one order of pancakes with berries, one pancake order with Nutella and a sandwich. We also had one bottle of water and two lemonades. The bill was over $75. I don't mind the price but what I do mind is the up charge for berries and got 6 in total. The upcharge for the Nutella was for a small cup of Nutella and that person also got the same amount of berries that I got. I used to go there almost every weekend and just got back in town. My brother and I had great service and delicious fresh food. He had the Viking sandwich and I was looking for a smaller-sized lunch. The lentil soup (soup of the day) was the perfect size and definitely made fresh. We ate inside. It was clean; the cashier also brought us our order. This is the Swedish gal that was cold and distant, that you fell in love with, only to break up, because she had become aloof and unworthy of your time. It's not the plot of a Bergman film. It's the Tragedy of Johan's Joe. When it opened the pastries were rockstar. The coffee, Löfbergs, rocks the house. Then they had trouble with a regular baker. Away goes the Kanelbullar, lovely Swedish pastries. They started buying croissants arriving in big cardboard boxes. They started to do Swedish dinners, which were amazing, but the price to the ambiance wasn't fitting. It didn't pick up traction. COVID made things much worse. Coming back from it, the hot foods were suffering from poor prep. All the while, prices rose, and rose, long before the inflation spiked. Four people for breakfast went from about $50 to $90, pre-spike. It's a bit worse today. Meanwhile the dining room's tables are tired and need repair or replacement. Is any of that money being plowed back into guest experience at the business? It didn't appear as if it is. They brought in a new baker, recently. I went back, to check, Their work is really not very good, Middling, at best. The hot foods, sandwiches, and salads are good, but not for the lofty price point. If I didn't need to have a DUNS number to eat here. I might come more often, but Vincent's has better food, in Lake Worth, for a fraction of the price, with fewer parking hassles. Johan's has a few slots in the building's lot, but Mitchell or park on the street nearby. It can be a headache to land here read more

Stopped here after searching for places that were open! Glad I did, I love Swedish meatballs (thank you ikea) these were delicious! We cook Swedish pancakes often and these were so soft and the whipped cream was fresh and complimented it well. Staff was attentive and helpful. The restaurant is beautiful very chic and trendy would be nice to come for a brunch! Only thing to think about is that it is on the expensive side for brunch... but you are downtown. I ordered "The Stockholm"- which is a fried egg, bacon, avocado, Swiss cheese, and dill mustard sauce on a croissant. I loved this breakfast sandwich!!!! The croissant was fresh, flakey, and toasted, the avocado was ripe (large amount on the sandwich), the bacon was crispy, the cheese was melted, and the egg was perfectly fried. We were looking for a nice place for a lunch on a Saturday afternoon and Johan's was perfect. You order at the counter and your food is brought to the table. Two of our party ordered Swedish pancakes with Nutella and berries and two of us ordered The Midnight Sun (a chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese, bacon, and sweet chili sauce on a croissant. The sandwich came with chips or salad and we chose chips. They also have a series of coffees and fresh sangria on the weekends. The Swedish pancakes got raves. My sandwich was a thin chicken breast with Swiss cheese, bacon, and a delicious sweet and spicy sauce on a flaky croissant. Definitely would order this again. I also ordered a chocolate ball which we shared, but didn't really enjoy. It wasn't what I expected and my companions didn't care for the chocolate coffee flavor. The service was friendly and we met the owner who gave us the tip that the parking lot in the back really isn't patrolled on the weekends and we wouldn't be towed. Seriously you can't go wrong everything I've ever ordered has been amazing and delicious. I always get a coffee and then pick one of the amazing pastries to try. The quality of the food and coffee here is good! I didn't give it five stars because it's not something I would necessarily rave about but still a place I'd go back to again. The ambiance of the restaurant feels like a high end cafe. They have either plain white chairs or random tables of beautiful purple decadent chairs. The menu options are a wonderful mix of breakfast and lunch items and I think the spread is perfect. The service was good. It's a place that you order at the register and they will give you a table number and will bring it out to you so no one ever came to check on us but the crew seemed generally nice. Back in 2019 I spent some time in Sweden and came back craving their pastries, and was pleasantly surprised to find Johan's Joe in my search. It's a bright and airy space that not only offers a variety of freshly made meals, pastries and coffee, but they also sell popular Swedish snacks you'd normally only get in Sweden. Most recently I tried their Drink of the Month which was a Dark Chocolate Cold Brew that was absolutely delicious. It was like drinking liquid chocolate but not *too* sweet. They should maybe look at having this be a permanent menu item because it was exceptional. If you're in a rush just know it does get kind of busy on the weekends so there can be a bit of a wait. In terms of COVID safety, staff wears masks and gloves. We have visited this location 2x since the pandemic and they have seating both indoors and outside.
