I had two wisdom teeth extracted last year, kind of a complicated surgery, but Dr. Allen was very thorough in explaining everything and lots of follow up after surgery. He is always friendly and puts me at ease because sitting in the dentist chair automatically makes me nervous. There was a mild complication with my nerve after surgery and Dr. Allen continues to follow up with me every few months to check on the progress and always offers me refreshments when I visit. My insurance covered most of the procedure and the ladies at the front desk were very helpful in explaining exactly what I'm paying for. I want to start with the first thing I loved about the office, which is how easy it was making an appointment even though my sons schedule is hectic with school and sports, the reception was both accommodating and friendly. I appreciated how well she worked with my needs. She was extremely patient and helpful. Secondly I was impressed with how clean and nice the office was. As soon as we entered the office there was a person to greet us & check us in, the process was easy and fast. Surgeon told me he was going to check with my dental insurance and my medical insurance, to see which options work best for me. It's been months now and I've yet to hear back. I've called the office several times and it just rings and rings. The few times I have gotten someone on the phone they just seem clueless and tell me that they will investigate and call me back. I've yet to get that call. I shouldn't be the one to chase them down or remind them about me. Horrible experience and don't recommend this place to anyone. I had a great experience having 2 upper wisdom teeth removed. After years of putting it off, my husband convinced me the procedure is best done by an oral surgeon instead of a dentist. The procedure lasted a total of 45 minutes being under anesthesia. I recovered quickly. Dr. Allen even called the same night of the procedure to check up on me. I have no regrets going to Dr. Allen. I could not have picked a better oral surgeon. From the very first consultation Dr. Allen was friendly, straightforward, and made me feel at ease. He answered every one of my questions and explained everything clearly. My costs were broken down before I left so I knew what to expect. The surgery itself went very smoothly. The preparation process was quick and easy. The IV felt a little funny but after that all I remember is saying 'Goodnight' to everyone and waking up at home on my couch propped up with a mouth full of gauze! The girls who set me up were incredibly nice. I believe their names were Jessica and Jasmine. Very sweet girls! The only complaint I have is that I didn't get a call for prep the day before so I looked it up on my own the morning of on their website because I wasn't sure if I was allowed to eat/drink or that I had to wear a short sleeve shirt and not have acrylics on. That might be common sense for some people but I had no idea! Overall, definitely the experience I was hoping for and expecting! And to top it all off, Dr.Allen called personally to check on me after the surgery and go over post op instructions again and answer any questions I had. Great office, great experience. I've been here twice, for two oral surgeries. After the first one I felt so good, I had almost no pain or swelling. The doctor call me the same day, in the evening, to see how am I doing and give me so more instructions, so caring... He is very patient, knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain you the procedure. When I found out that I need one more surgery I definitively chosen Dr. M Allan. It's been over three years now that my lower lip has been partially numb ever since Dr. Allen removed my wisdom teeth. During the initial consultation visit we talked about the risk of getting permanent numbness as this was a big concern to me. Dr. Allen's response to my concern was to tell that the chance of getting permanent numbness was extremely small, but not to worry about it too much because he specialized in removing teeth and that he was confident I would be ok. I went to a few follow up visits with Dr. Allen for two years after the surgery. During these visits he would poke around my numb lip with a pin and perform some tests. He would also tell me that he had never had any of his patients suffer permanent numbness and that he really believed I would regain full feeling of my lip. Think twice before you get your wisdom teeth removed, no matter how small the risk may be of suffering permanent numbness. After all, you will be the one who will have to live with the consequences if the surgery does not go well. Think to yourself: Does the reward outweigh the risk? read more

Like most people in this world I am extremely nervous about going to a dentist let alone an Oral Surgeon. There is just something about the sound of the drill and the thought of needles in your mouth that really doesn't set right with me. Although I must say; even though I am still going through the mess of oral surgeries; I would not want anyone else doing my surgery other than Dr. J. Allen. I trust him immensely. I have been in the medical field for over 25 years and I have yet to meet a doctor/surgeon as caring, attentive, gentle and honestly concerned about his patient's well-being then Dr. Allen. He is straight forward yet sensitive in his approach. He speaks to you not at you and goes above and beyond to help his patients. He made me feel very comfortable before my biopsy and has continued too for every visit thereafter. His office is beautifully decorated and once entering you feel at ease and welcomed. The staff are polite, respectful and attentive. I had an issue with my insurance company and everyone in the office even Dr. Allen worked their hardest to resolve the problem. As I mentioned earlier I still have more work to be done and Dr. Allen has promised me that "we" will get through this and I truly believe he will be with me every step of the way. Ok people ,i was referred to dr. Allens office from my sons orthodontist.once arriving and meeting with the doctor and his staff ,my son and i felt we were in very good hands. Dr. Allen and staff were very professional,kind and courteous,this was from top to bottom. This i say because having worked in the health field industry before, not once did we feel like just a number,but more like humans. The personel there explainedeverything we needed to know, wheather it was billing,the treatment we were to recieve and most importantly follow-up care. I had my two wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Allen yesterday. It was as pleasant an experience as a tooth pulling could possibly be! I am needle-phobic, but Dr. Allen used a cold spray on my hand before putting the IV in & asked me if I was doing ok through the whole process. Next thing I knew I was at home, feeling little pain or discomfort. It was a fairy tale compared to most of the horror stories of wisdom teeth pulling you can find on the Internet.
