Last year I made an appointment because my air conditioner went out in the middle of the summer. I was staying in a hotel. So the following day, I was given a 4 hour time frame from 9am to 1pm. I called at 1pm because no response from the technician. They were going to get in touch and let me know what was going on. At 2:30 I called them back and was told he didn't call them back yet. Checked an hour later and still no response. At 4:40 pm, I received a text he was on his way and I immediately texted him back and said not to bother. I called the office again and relayed what happened and promised a technician in the morning. I requested not to have the same person. Not to call me one time and tell me what was going on is poor communication and disrespectful. I already had paid for another night in a hotel which could've been avoided in their was communication. The following morning the guy was great, arrived on time and fixed the problem. I wasn't going to post anything but in May, I called a few days before Memorial Day weekend. No one answered so I left a message and my AC went out again and would need replaced. It was around 3pm and not one person called me back. So guess what John Cassidy Air Conditioning you lost a customer and someone else replaced my AC the following day. Communication and common courtesy goes a long way. read more

During our semi annual A/C tuneup, I was told that the blades on the drum were filthy and needed to be cleaned.. The technician told me the dirt on the blades are causing an unhealthy environment in my condo. He quoted me a price of $ 650 for the cleaning which I agreed to have done. A week later, a new technician game over to do the job. After he spett 1.5 hours taking the unit apart, he told me the fan blades were not dirty and the prior technician was mistaken. John C Cassidy charged my credit card the full amount since my card was on file in their office. I called John C Cassidy three times and was given the run-around.. I asked for my money back to no avail on an expensive job that was not needed. I called JCC because of their commercials, which don't match up at all with the actual service. I am doing a bathroom remodel and needed about 6 ft. of flex duct replaced. The Tech only wanted to sell me all new ducts for the entire house, although we have no other issues. We paid the service fee and didn't get a quote for what we wanted or what they were trying to push. I was very disappointed because I have several projects coming up and was looking for someone to trust. Had them out to fix a nonfunctioning thermostat. After about 2 hours of walking around looking at things, Mike, the technician, said he had to make some calls and get the replacement pieces. He left and never called back. The next day had a charge on my card for almost $400 for work that wasn't done. Got my money back but in the process of doing this, I discovered my signature was forged on three places on an invoice I never saw. Managers could not believe that any of their employees would forge a signature. They did not care that my name was signed authorizing work and charges. Would never recommend this company. I have had a nightmare dealing with John C. Cassidy and I wanted to write this as a warning to all potential customers DO NOT TRUST this company. I worked with Doug to purchase a split system AC for my guest cottage which has 3 split air heads. One of the units has leaked since it was installed over a year and a half ago. I informed Cassidy that the unit was leaking a few months after the installation and they charged me to come out to inspect the system, after which they informed me that the drain pan was cracked. I told them it must have been cracked when it was installed as the unit was new and it was never touched- they promised they would get in touch with the parts department about the warranty but I never got a response. 6 months later I called them again and they sent another technician to say the drain pan was cracked, they would get in touch with the parts department. Another 6 months goes by and my entire cottage reeks of moisture and mold and the AC is leaking into a bucket. I call them back and everyone is confused and they keep asking me to pay for yet another technician to come out and inspect the unit. They promise they will order the part, this NEVER happens. Now it's the end of November and the part is still not here and they claim it will be another month or 2. They have done nothing to replace this faulty unit or order a new part. Now I have toxic mold in my cottage and no one has been able to rent the unit it months, I am loosing rental income and my entire wall and AC split head reeks of mildew and there is still no solution. The sales guy Doug just shrugs and says "not my department" and the customer service department doesn't seem to care. They only care about charging for technicians to come over and over again in order to squeeze as many dollars out of this situation before I give up and order a whole new unit. Asked to use my maintenance plan to look at my non working ac and they sent a tech who not only wasted 4 hours of my time but then decided to charge me for no work. There was no plan or follow up. After several calls and emails no one returned my call. I then asked to cancel my maintenance plan and they kept the money. Bad A/C Experience. I recently hired John C. Cassidy for an A/C repair. After I gave their technician a full explanation of the issue he was able to quickly determine that I had a bad contactor. He quoted me a price of $500 to complete the repair. When I asked him why the cost was so high he responded by telling me that I have to pay for his expertise, labor, travel and after his company pays all expenses, they wouldn't make more than a $40 profit. Because I was already on the hook for the $114 service call I proceeded with the repair. The technician took approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the repair and was at my residence for less than an hour. After the technician had left I researched the part that was replaced which is a Packard c240a, 40 amp, 24 volt contactor which sells for approximately $11-$15. I called the company to express my concern over the price I was charged and asked for a breakdown of parts and labor and I was told that they use a book value of $380.00 and they don't breakdown the parts and labor? I asked to speak with the owner and I was told that they will "try" and have him call me. I'm still waiting.. if all this sounds reasonable to you, give them a try. To me, this is nothing more than price gouging against a homeowner in distress. read more

I had a new airconditioning Unit put in during Sept 2019. I had to call them last summer because my unit was still not cooling my condo below 80. Now once again I have the same issue, however, I started a maintenance contract that I paid up front $240.00 for two maintenance visits a year. They did a check on Aug 5 and said my unit was fine. Now it isn't. I thought I would be paying per month but they took it out in advance. Now a year later they want me to pay $100.00 to come out to see if there is a new problem. The unit is still under their warranty! Do not buy from these people! I should not have to pay this company anything because it is still under warranty! John C. Cassidy is unresponsive and unreliable. As Cassandra mentions "absolutely zero communications between the answering service, technicians, plumbers and sales". You will have to hound them to follow up on scheduled appointments and hopefully the call center will be eventually communicate with their team. Unfortunately, the repairmen are hit or miss. The last one came 2 weeks ago and during his 30 minute stay, he refused to assist. Rather, he made excuses that it was the design of the building which causes the AC to be unreliable. Over the past 5 days the unit continues to turn on and off every few hours. On the scheduled appointment at 9AM, they do not show up. I called after two hours and was informed they will arrive shortly. They never came. This was repeated on Friday. Despite calling John C. Cassidy continuously, they continually are dropping the ball by not showing up. It's a pretty disgraceful business. read more

Came two times to fix my AC while I was out of town and billed me for both and claimed it was fixed, but it never worked - when I spoke to them about it, they just said it was confusing and they weren't sure what happened but I still needed to pay the invoices, even though they did not fix my A/C as claimed. If I could leave zero stars I would. I actually cannot believe what happened tonight. My AC went out yesterday so I called to make a service appointment immediately. They said they could come out the next day between 1PM-6PM. The service guy ended up showing up right after 6PM and explained to me that I need to replace my capacitor. He told me it was going to be $480 (I was already in shock because this was ON TOP OF the service fee of $160). But no worries, he told me he wouldn't "charge me much" for labor. So I quickly looked this piece up online and discovered I could order the SAME EXACT piece for $17.15 off of Amazon or $30 at Ace Hardware. I asked him why they were charging me $480 for a $20 piece I found online and I QUOTE, he said, "Yeah, you can buy it for that, but this is just what the company charges". So I had him take the piece off and of course it was a hassle for him to do so, and I still paid the $160 service fee. I know service companies mark their products/services up and I expected it to be marked up... But REALLY?? $480 for a $20 piece I just ordered off of Amazon??? Beware if you use this company. Make sure you Google the parts they are putting on your units before they move forward with the install. read more

We called John C Cassidy when our AC stopped working. Mike came out to look at it and was very professional. He explained what the problem was and offered options to fix it or replace it. He was very honest. Although the couldn't do the work that day he did have someone from the sales team reach out and talk to us about an estimate for a new system. Anthony spent a lot of time working with us and also working with our home warranty company (which wasn't easy). He was very patient and went above and beyond trying to help us. They installed new unit which was defective which is understandable...it happens. How they handled it was not understandable or acceptable. Clearly they don't care about customer service or quality workmanship. I would never use or recommend them and typically do not go out of my way to encourage people not to use someone, however they are one company I feel obligated to let people know to stay away from. My neighbor recommended John Cassidy to resolve an HVAC problem; so I called them. Michael Banks, a so-called Comfort Advisor showed up to look at the situation. After 10-15 minutes, he promised to follow up based on a plan of action we both agreed to. A week later, after not hearing from him, I called again. He apologized and said he had been away on a little vacation and promised again to follow up with me. It has now been another 2 weeks and no word from him. I posted a review of this company 6 months ago on their site and magically it has disappeared. However, I want people to be warned. My sister purchased a brand new 5 ton Carrier AC for $4950 on 5/21/2018, installed on 5/25/2018 for our parents who are now 84/88 years of age. The whole idea was to keep the house cool here in this Florida heat. In less than one week, the house was burning hot, so we called the company, and even though I told them it was a brand new unit, they tried to charge us a $150 just to show up because it was not business hours, so we waited until business hours, 5/28/2018 and had them come out and again they wanted to charge us. They finally decided not to charge us after I complained, but as a brand new customer, I should not have to go through this. But they still tried to milk us out of more money to buy a maintenance plan. I few weeks later, again we had to call for the same problem. We have since found out that this unit should have come with an automatic flush device, that once the humidity is removed from the inside, it backs up and the unit turns completely off. So with this brand new unit, every one to two months, my 84/88 year old parents have to hook up a water vacuum outside, drain the system, add bleach and water to flush the system. Needless to say, I am not going to let them do it, so I, almost 59 years old, have to come into town to flush this system for them. Every AC professional we have spoken to said they should have installed an automatic pump to this unit, but I suppose if they did, they would not be able to sell those expensive maintenance plans. Every time I have to come and attach this water vacuum outside to this brand new $5,000 AC unit, I become enraged. So basically, we are babysitting an AC unit. This is the worst contractor in FL. We are in the 3rd week of an ac issue; they have sent 6 technicians and still cannot fix the problem. They consistently lie, install incorrect parts, and collect our checks and credit cards, never correcting the problem. The back office is so incompetent and downright dishonest in every way, that it cannot be put into words. We have been customers for over 20 years and recently renewed our maintenance agreement and we are treated like dirt. There are honest contractors out there, please seek them out. I recently purchased a condo, with a New Carrier AC System John C Cassidy installed on May 1st, 2019. I felt good about purchasing a condo with AC installed in 2019, assuming I would get 10-15 years out of that system. Sadly, the AC has failed already ( 1 year and 6 weeks after install) due to compressor failure. I have sent two emergency emails to Cassidy so far, but have not received a response . Cassidy states on their Website 90% of unit failures within 10 years are preventable with proper maintenance. My unit was slightly over a year old, and maintained, it's unclear why it would have failed so quickly. After my two emails we're ignored I called and spoke to a representative, was told a service manager was not available and my unit was past 1 year service warranty, and I'd have to pay for service call.... So far I' being told by another company Carrier may not even honor the warranty since original owner did not "register" the unit, and I'm looking at repair cost up to $1,100 on a one-year old AC. My grandmothers AC was out and John C Cassidy dispatched a technician named Mike. He got her AC working and was more than polite. While he was on his way out, she fell and broke her hip. Mike called 911, and, despite her telling him that she could leave, he stayed with her. He called family members and alerted them to what has happened. He talked to her the entire time and took her mind off of the pain. So, essentially, this is not only a great company for HVAC issues, but they employ empathetic, kind, good people. BEWARE OF JOHN C.CASSIDY! A client of mine who recently purchased a home called John C Cassidy when her A/C stopped cooling. (Cassidy installed the unit in May 2018). They came out after hours ($150 service call) and then charged her an additional $175 for a $30 capacitor. They wouldn't recognize the fact that the unit was under warranty. What they claim is that the previous owner had not registered the unit at the time of purchase. She called the manufacturer, gave them the serial number, and found that there is, in FACT, a 5-year warranty!! Then CASSIDY told her she needed to replace the blower and quoted $1300.00, again claiming the unit was NOT under warranty. Thankfully she was savvy enough to research it herself and call in another company to make the repairs for ONLY $300.00. John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning Company almost ripped me off! I bought my house in 12/2019. Cassidy had installed a new Carrier AC unit on 05/2018. I bought a service plan from Cassidy on 01/2020. On 07/29/2020 the blower motor on my AC went out. I called Cassidy to get the quote and was told it would cost $1,130.00. I asked about the warranty and was told "owner didn't register within 90 days." Luckily I thought to call Carrier. Carrier asked for serial number and told me ALL parts and service were under warranty until 05/2023. When I advised Cassidy of this they came back with a quote of $402.00 that included the 20% off because I had a service plan. North County Cooling, Inc installed the blower motor quickly and professionally for $300.00. Buyer be educated and BEWARE of John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning Company! read more

Their service people seem to me to be quite knowledgeable and trustworthy. They actually installed the AC that's in my house before I moved here. With their maintenance it is running perfectly. I always argued back and forth with my wife about this company. Her parents used them, and as such she felt they were a good company to hire to maintain our 2 AC units at our previous house. I won the argument, and allowed Aztil to maintain the units they installed. We never had a problem. When we moved into our new house last year, I relented, and allowed her to hire John C. Cassidy. We were having an issue where the fan outside would kick on, but the compressor didn't seem to be running. This was causing hot air or at the very least ambient temperature air to flow through the vents, bringing the house up to the outside temperature of 85 degrees. Not very comfortable at night when you've got a small child. My first instinct, knowing nothing about HVAC systems beyond what the components are named, did a quick search of my problem on the internet. The OVERWHELMING consensus of Google was the capacitor. A common problem easily remedied. So while I was at work, out they came, and my wife explained the issue. The tech that arrived spent the first few minutes making her feel dumb for having installed a Nest thermostat, which according to him are a terrible product. Pay no mind to the fact that I had 2 at my last house, and they ran perfectly, as does the one currently installed at this house. The next order of business was to explain that the problem we were experiencing was obviously be caused by dirty filters. So like a hero on a white horse, he climbed his ladder, and removed our dirty filter, and replaced it. He ensured my wife that the problem was solved and the day was saved. Only instead of doing an actual analysis of our AC system, he took is $145, and went on his way. Fast forward about a month. We are still experiencing the problem intermittently, and only after my emergency gallbladder surgery, did I finally relent and agree to call John C. Cassidy again. It was a Saturday night, and while I knew they would charge a premium for an emergency weekend call, I could not let it go any longer, considering I had a sick 20 month old, and I myself was recovering from surgery still. I left a message on their emergency system, and while waiting, the compressor on my system came on, and began cooling the house (thank god). As a result, the woman who returned my call recommended I schedule a Sunday morning appointment, as it would only cost $95, as opposed to the $130+. So I agreed, and was told to expect a call between 8am and 12pm Sunday. Sunday at 12 came and went, and as we approached 12:30, I called again, to find out where my technician was. I was told he was completing a previous call, and that I was next. Shortly after that conversation, my tech called and arrived around 1. I explained the problem, and the tech patiently began a process of elimination to determine the issue. He identified an issue with a missing cable that was connected to my thermostat, and was able to create a temporary fix. His next step was to examine the exterior unit of the AC. Within 3 minutes of removing the protective cover, he was able to determine that the capacitor was indeed bad, and my system was pulling too many amps, which can stress the system, and cause the capacitor to wear out prematurely. After promptly replacing it, and installing a recommended kickstarter unit, he was done with his service. $600 later, my system was back up and running. If the first service had gone like this one, the company would have gained a customer for good. But of course it didn't. As a result of this second service, my wife and I felt compelled to reach out and express our frustration with the company over the lack of support we received during the first service, arguing that the second, more expensive call would have been necessary, had the original tech done his job and checked the exterior unit. This procedure, I was told by the second technician is standard practice during a troubleshooting call. We were hoping to reason with the company and ask that we be reimbursed for the cost of the first visit, minus materials. my wife was told that because we waited almost 6 weeks, that it couldn't possibly have been the capacitor the first time, even though the problem persisted immediately following the original call. As a result of all of this, I absolutely cannot recommend this company. While the second technician was honest and efficient, 50% of our experiences were shady and dishonest. Not to mention the management dodging the responsibility of owning the mistakes of their technician. read more

They came back out to fix and I was told it would be no charge since it was their fault. Well I was billed another service call and so I called to dispute. This company is a real disaster! I bought a brand new AC from them, they installed it, super expensive... then, 2 years later, the fan motor is bad so they replaced it. The technician said to my tenant, "no worries, it's under warranty"! Sure enough, I end up with $350 of labor for 2 hours of installation!!!! Now, I am trying to get information about this "labor"!
