The cushion on my five year old sofa busted open and started fraying like crazy. The manufacturer denied a warranty claim and said my only option was to re-purchase a new cushion in a different fabric (the one on my sofa was discontinued) for $200. Enter James! I sent photos by text, and when we met in person that day, he noticed that there was enough slack in the fabric that he could mend the cover, rather than replace or patch it. I brought the other cushion for him to reinforce, and he took care of both within a week for $50. The cushions look great, and James was lovely to chat with. I'm soo happy with my re-upholstered chairs, they came out perfect, better than I imagined. There is not a stitch out of place 3 years later. My nephew took a black sharpie to them though, ugh! I used a mobile cleaning service and they're like a new again, fabric is excellent. I found my chairs at a junk store. I took a picture to John, we worked through fabrics and pricing for different intricacies and patterns. You can get pillows made to match your pieces, add buttons, there's tufting and alot of other stuff you can get done. Turn around was reasonable, I forget maybe 3-6 weeks because he's excellent and busy. Thanks so much! I have so many more pieces in storage that I want done, have to finish my house first though. We bought some sale items from West Elm that had rather cheap padding and a color we didn't like - James was able to find the exact fabric we wanted, rebuilt the cushions, and added the mid-century detailing we wanted (welting, tufting).
