I actually fell asleep (with no sedatives) and napped through the latter half of the procedure. The staff - desk staff, hygienist, and Dr. Fisher - were all welcoming, friendly, concerned about my comfort and convenience, and very respectful and professional in practice. They were transparent about the cost at the time the appointment was scheduled, and it was within norms for this procedure on this type of tooth (I am a health economist and epidemiologist and have access to good data on pricing to compare it to). I was referred to this practice by another dentist, and Lafayette Endodontics had responded to the referral and called me to schedule the appointment withing 10 minutes of leaving the referring dentist's office. All pre-treatment paperwork (except for signing off on consent for the particular procedure) was completed with a simple on-line form they sent me a link to and which required less than 10 minutes to complete as a new patient. I hope no one needs Dr. Fisher's services, but if you do I strongly recommend using him.

The tooth had been vaguely bothering me, so I decided to finally do it, and got a referral to Dr. Patterson. I went in a couple of weeks ago and very quickly got escorted back to the room I was going to be root canaled in (is that a verb?). Dr. Patterson came in and talked to me first, which I appreciated. We chatted about pain management protocols (he's very aware of opioid addiction and helping his patients avoid that), which I appreciated (although I'm not an addict, I have family members who are). He walked me through some of the specifics for my procedure, since there are several options, and explained the various pieces of equipment he was going to use. Overall, he made me feel comfortable with *him*, rather than making my feel like I was just one of ten root canals that day. His assistant made sure I was warm (they have blankets!), and we got started. The procedure itself was painless. I had my headphones on, I zoned out, Dr. Patterson and his dental assistant did their thing. Afterwards, it was a little sore, but nothing ibuprofen couldn't handle. I have a follow up next week for part 2. Three fun facts: #1, Dr. Patterson's father was one of the founders of endodontics. #2, Someone loved their root canal so much they literally wrote poetry about it. #3, If you have errant hairs on your chin that you have to pluck...wait until after your procedure. Your face is all numb, so you can pluck them pain-free! Honestly, I hope I don't have to go back, because I'd rather not have messed up teeth. But if I do have to have another root canal, I'll certainly go to Dr. Patterson.

The needle was placed gently by Dr. Hart, and the medication was dripped in over a 4-minute period of time resulting in no discomfort during and after the numbness wore off. Dr. Hart was reassuring prior to the procedure. He is an energetic man and was very verbally expressive during the surgery. After getting several referrals from co-workers for Dr. Snyder, I made an appointment. She is one of the top dentists I've ever been to. Her and her staff are friendly and professional. I have visited her office three times now (guess what...still no cavities!), and have zero complaints. She's about the friendliest person you'll ever meet too. My services always go smoothly. Her office is clean and modern, equipped with all top dental equipment. On my most recent visit, the office had to reschedule my appointment at the last minute. Most medical offices will penalize a patient if they do this yet do it themselves freely. Not Dr. Snyder's office. I received a gift card for the inconvenience of the last minute rescheduling. I sincerely appreciated this accountability and gesture. Even though Dr. Snyder is out of network for me and I have to pay in full up front and wait for insurance to reimburse me, going to a friendly and ethical dental office is worth it. I recommend her to everyone I know.

So, I got a second opinion and NO cavities just like I suspected. At the time, Dr. Cronchite was out of the office with back problems and a different dentist was filling in (I don't remember her name). However, since I've been going there, I've been diagnosed with 2 cavities (two different times), was recommended for a root canal (performed at a different recommended office), recommended to have a wisdom tooth out (also performed at a different recommended office). That was 11 weeks ago and part of my face is still numb. Now, I'm left wondering how much of that was needed and how much was a cash grab. In the past I had read similar reviews, but ignored them. BEWARE, Be SKEPTICAL, and ask for proof of diagnosis!

Regarding: Indy Endodontics (Avon) Appointment Office Personnel…read moreI learned from my regular dentist I had an abscessed tooth and would need to get my first root canal. My dentist said they will provide the referral and 3D scan to the root canal specialists I chose. I contacted Indy Endodontics (IE) because they accepted my dental insurance and received very good reviews. Upon contacting IE it didn't take to long to find out they wanted to charge me up to $315 to do another 3D scan. This was evident when they would not look at the 3D scan my dentist sent them on a CD and then attach in an email using Dropbox. I do not recommend this practice as long as they give a potential patient the run around. It is hard enough to go through a root canal when you have to have a crown drilled through to remove the calcified nerve. After contacting many other independent endodontists, I was able to get the work done more professionally from initial contact to completion. Senior Citizen

I arrived right on schedule for my appointment and they were ready for me. Ben and the lady assisting him (I feel terrible for not catching her name, but she was awesome) repeatedly checked in to make sure I was ok, thoroughly explaining what they were doing every step of the way...which was super cool because I love to know all the things. As someone with a high tolerance for all things, I was anxious about not being numb enough but I felt zero pain during or after. There's also a word puzzle on the ceiling to keep you distracted, if you're into those.
