I met with Dr. Davidson to discuss cataract surgery and lens options. I was very myopic at the time. He showed me a binder with the different lenses and I decided on the mid-range lenses that would give good distance, mid-range and close up vision. I scheduled the surgery for my first eye. Two days before the surgery, I received a call saying that those lenses were not available in my power (they didn't go high enough) but he could still insert them and do a "touch up" Lasik surgery. He didn't know that at the time of my appointment? (I was never even a candidate for Lasik surgery due to other eye conditions.) I cancelled my surgery because he clearly wasn't paying attention to my eyes and my vision needs and he didn't know the products he was pushing. I then consulted with another ophthalmologist and told him which lenses I had originally selected. Without skipping a beat, he immediately said those lenses didn't come in my power. Thank you! I had my surgeries with this other doctor and couldn't be happier. Steer clear of Dr. Davidson as he doesn't listen to his patients and/or is incompetent when it comes to actual cataract surgery and the specific needs of patients as individuals. read more

Dr. Davidson is part of Miramar Eye Associates. I had discussed my cataracts with Dr Langford who is also part of the group and he told me about a new procedure that came out towards the end of covid, called LAL or Light Adjustable Lenses. It's a new way of doing cataract surgery completely by Robotics and Laser. What intrigued me, was having the ability to adjust the lenses after placement, up to 3 times, with 90 seconds of UV light. They accepted Medicare payment as partial payment as this procedure was pretty expensive. I paid the rest out of pocket What made me a good candidate for this procedure was the fact that I didn't have any other eye problems and I had worn mono vision contacts for over 25 years so my brain was able to process having one eye dedicated to near vision and one eye for far vision, easily. It's a quick process to do because the lenses are thin and heal quickly. I had one eye done on a Monday and the 2nd eye on Wednesday. By Thursday I had spectacular, clear vision. For now I have to wear UV protection glasses inside and outside. I have my first adjustment follow-up in a week. At that time I can adjust just a little bit of my near vision. If I'm happy with those results I'll go back in and they will seal my rx with UV light as well. If they still aren't perfect for what I want, I have two more adjustments that can be made. After my eyes are sealed I have a 95% chance of never wearing glasses again, except for my Maui Jim sunglasses or course. It's truly a groundbreaking procedure and Dr Davidson and Langford are 2 of the most experienced doctors in our state and in the country, of doing it this way. Totally amazing. Dr. Davidson replaced the lenses in both eyes for my husband, Dan. He had cataracts in both eyes that were obscuring his vision. It has been a few years since they were done and we a very happy with the results. The procedure went very well with no pain. He had the surgeries about 2 weeks apart and the recovery time was minimal. The only downside was that it is expensive but well worth the cost in the long run. Very satisfied! read more

I do not understand any of the complaints. Dr Davidson has been my Dr for 32 years since he did the first LASIK procedures at Jules Stein, UCLA. When you have anything done with your eyes you have to have patience and trust the doctor. No two people have the same eyes so outcomes can take a little extra work on the doctors part and I can assure you that Dr Davidson will work with you until you get the best vision possible. Don't expect to go in and immediately have 20/20 vision. You may need tweaks along the way. Dr Davidson is one of the best eye surgeons I know!!! read more

I had cataract surgery one year ago and after being told that this $6000 lens would be the greatest thing I agreed to do it to my regret. My vision is worse now than I went there. I was told it takes a little time for my brain to adjust to it. I expressed my displeasure several months later and asked to see Dr. Davidson and was told "the glaucoma in your right eye is worse than your left". That explains nothing. After paying $6000 out of pocket my vision is still much worse than when I first went there. I met someone that had a similar experience and yes it was the same Dr.Davidson. read more

My dad went to John Davidson of Lynn Eye Specialists for what was expected to be a simple cataract surgery in June 2022, and woke up on August 2, 2022 not being able to see anything in his right eye. He made an emergency appointment with Dr Davidson and was informed that he had a detached retina. To date, my dad has attempted to make a follow up appointment with Dr Davidson to understand what went wrong in the surgery, and has repeatedly been refused an appointment. This doctor is dangerous and is not accountable for his actions. I recommend you look elsewhere so you can avoid the trauma that my dad has been through for over the past year. read more

My instinct when I read about the doctor, Dr. Davidson, in this office was not good. When a doctor says submit your questions in writing, I think that is a red flag. Why not reassure your patients in person? Well, I will tell you. Dr. Davidson has a horrible bedside manner. I teared up because my cataract operation was not successful. .And he started yelling at me until I burst into sobbing tears. They inserted a torc lens which did not improve my vision. Then he wanted me to pay another $4,000. for the other eye and he would make the two eyes work and see together and no guarantee (so I could be out $8000.) This was not what I wanted. I wanted one eye for near and one eye for far. He agreed to fix the problem when my husband was with me but then gave me a scenario (which was probably easier for him) when I went to the office alone. Oh, and prior to the cataract removal, Dr. Davidson questioned me as to why I did not have the covid vaccine. I told him that I was allergic to one of the ingredients. ( I have done tons of research on the vaccines because of my allergies). He goes to his office and returns with his computer with something that says there are no allergy reactions from the vaccine. He knows nothing about my history with allergies and the research I have done. He treats me with such disrespect for my intelligence and my awareness to my condition with vaccines of all kinds. Another red flag...trust your instincts and run when it feels wrong to you. One of his assistants actually admitted that he doesn't deal with emotions very well. If you take your husband with you, he will treat you better, but why subject yourself to this abuse. The whole office reflects this man's attitude best illustrated by the following: 1. After spending all this money, ($4,000 which was wasted because there is no guarantee) they actually made me pay $1.00 for a mask to wear in the office. 2 .The front office asked me to fill out the same forms several times and then argued with me when I said I had filled them out. 3. The wait time averaged about an hour after my appointed time. The explanation I was given was that if a person was late, they tried to accommodate them and it would push up my appointment even though I was there on time. 4. When I would go for a follow-up on my eye. The office nurses would start examining my other eye. When I questioned them, they said the examination was for that eye's cataract removal, which was not why I was there. Apparently, there was nothing noted on my folder about the problem I was having with the original operation because each time I went, it was like I was there for the first time. My frustration was enormous and being a sensitive older woman who questions everything, I became very emotional. They all looked at me like I was some nut case and I received very little compassion. This is a cattle car number and if you have no questions and they make no mistakes. and you do not care about bedside manner, then maybe you will be lucky and have some success. Otherwise, do your research on picking a better doctor. I trusted a friend's recommendation. read more

Great Doctor, amazing staff of nurses and office staff and a great followup doctor with Dr. Gordon. I'm 68 years old and very dry eyes caused by a bad lasix surgery 20 years ago Contacts dried my eyes out horribly and I don't do well with glasses so my life was a constant battle of trying to get a contact lens to stay in my eyes. I often scratched my eyes with them or they just fell out. YIKES. Recently I've done both eyes and I LOVE THE RESULTS. His operating room at The Lynn Eye Group in 1000 Oaks is state-of- the- art with an entire group of nurses and doctors there in case of any problems. I highly recommend them both. Especially Annell, the doctor's scheduler - wow was she helpful from start to finish. read more

I just had cataract surgery by Dr. Davidson and it went really well. The whole experience was made easier from start to finish by a sympathetic and professional group of staff, from the initial consultation, through eye measurements and scheduling, and especially during the surgery itself. The nurses make you comfortable. There is no pain and the surgery goes very quickly. I got the laser operation with multifocal implants, so my vision will be corrected. The whole thing is amazing and I have great respect for doctors and nurses in general after the experience. Be sure you get the best doctor for your surgery like I did, because we are talking about your eyes, and that is the rest of your LIFE! read more

Guess he thinks he's a god. Methinks not. I have never been treated so rudely by anyone, let alone a doctor. Upon meeting him to discuss surgery, I explained how frightened I was. He examined my eyes and began to explain the choices in procedures. Because all of my friends had had the basic procedure, tried and true, he asked me why I'd made such a stupid or illogical choice? I said, money, medicare pays for it, and before I could finish explaining, he got up, said if I didn't want the lazer procedure, he couldn't be my surgeon, and walked out of the room. I was dumbfounded. I didn't get a chance to ask, besides an upsale, why lazer was the best procedure for me when everyone I knew had had the basic procedure. I didn't get to ask any questions. Guess he has so many patients running to have him do their surgery that he could be so rude and dismissive to a nervous and very uptight patient. read more

I paid them $4500 to ruin my vision with monovision. Now I can see a little better up close but can't see worth damn at any distance at all. Everything is blurry. They claimed I was an "excellent candidate" and my doctor highly recommended it. Yeah, maybe because he was getting a cut? Ya think? All I know is my vision sucks and there is nothing I can do about it. I don't even feel comfortable driving. I couldn't possibly be any unhappier with the result. read more
