Dr. Stark was awesome and very thorough. He was very informative and got my eye cleaned out after I decided to get a piece of metal in it.

I recently visited Dr Ragen due to the fact i had some problem with my vision due to extra skin on my droopy eyelids. I have been dealing with the office manger Natalia who was extremely helpful with scheduling and helping with my insurance. Everyone in the office is very nice and knowledgeable . Dr Ragen was professional and straight to the point. The surgery center they use was also terrific. The surgery went great i am very happy with the results. There was no pain just like the Dr said and my recovery was exactly as described. I love the results and would recommend Ventura Eye to anyone. read more

This office is outstanding. I saw Dr. Michael Regan after years of seeing about five other Ophthalmologists. I even went to the Stein Clinic at UCLA. No-one seemed to do anything for my eye problem. I got diagnosed with allergic eyes, blepharitis, dry eye, conjunctivitis, etc. All i got was you need to use your eye drops more often. My symptoms never got any better. I had the plugs put in, i tried restasis, i even had one doctor permanently cauterize one tear duct closed. My allergist tried to work with me on several eye drops. At one point I remember saying to a Doctor that when I use the artificial tears it doesn't help it feels like it drips out and makes my eye dryer and it feels like there is an imbalance . Well, I go in to see Dr. Regan for a visit and it only took him five minute to say I think you have plugged Meibomian glands. I had the procedure for that and what a difference! After reading up on it, i learned so much. I can't understand why five other Doctors don't know about this and a high percentage of people over 55 have this. I proceeded with an eye-lift and he is superior at his job. I won't ever go to anyone else! All of the office staff is helpful, friendly and very much are on top of things. Very personable doctor. Good salesman. Nice staff. By your second visit to his office, you will get the upsell of needing surgery. By the third visit, he will begin to close the deal. I went for glasses and he said I needed cataract surgery. I believed him because he has all the equipment that 'proves' it. What a disaster. Since Dr Ragen surgically implanted PanOptix lens, my eyes are worse. I now have visual field defects, floaties, halos at night, one lens is completely clouded over 4 months after surgery, and I can't see far clearly (which wasn't an issue before surgery). I went to a second doctor to evaluate what went wrong. That doctor told me I didn't need cataract surgery in the first place. $9,000 later, my eyes are worse. Plus he collected more from my insurance. If you care about your eyes, stay away from Ventura Eye Institute and Dr. Ragen. Far away. read more

My daughter has been dealing with eye chalazions for over a year, we ised to see a doctor that continued with the same treatment for months. Once I decided I had enough And looked for a new doctor I read about Dr. Ragen and decided to give it a try. He was Amazing! I thought he would just look at her and have her come back for treatment but he took her of her eye in just one visit, he did not rush and try different techniques. He was nice to my daughter and had a lot of patience, he also made jokes and did everything to make her feel comfortable and relaxed. He sent her home with few meds and told us to call him with any question. The assistants were also amazing! I am mad for waiting this long to visit his practice. read more

PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS before moving forward with any type of procedure with Dr Michael Ragen. On August 19 at 2:00PM, I had an in-person meeting with Brianne Enegren, Physician Assistant at Ventura Eye Instutute in Camarillo to discuss the possibility of aggressive lower lid CO2. After our discussion, she felt that aggressive lower lid CO2 would not give me the results I was looking for but wanted to take a few photos to share with Dr Ragen. Later that week, she called to say that Dr Ragen agreed with her and felt that I needed lower lid surgery OR lower lid surgery with aggressive CO2 in order to get optimal results. After discussing both options with my husband, I scheduled both procedures for September 29 at 3:00PM. Prior to my appointment, Brianne had sent me the prescriptions for the medications, bleaching cream and drops that I would need and went over instructions for both procedures. As agreed upon, I arrived on September 29 with a cashiers check for $3700 and I signed consent forms for both procedures and then was taken into the room. Dr Ragen confirmed the procedures that he would be performing and then began. I had driven myself to the appointment so I was obviously alert and awake the entire time. When the procedure was over, I left "believing" that both procedures had been performed. I arrived home and as I went to look in the mirror, I didn't notice any type of cut in the lower lid. I immediately called the office and although it was only 4:30PM, the answering service retrieved the call. I asked to speak to Dr Ragen, and was told that I could leave a message for the doctor on call. Dr Huynh, MD called me back and I explained the situation. He said that he wasn't aware of the procedure, but that he would relay the message to Dr Ragen in the morning and assured me that I would be taken care of. The following morning, I received a call from Lori Slade, Administrator stating that she had gone home early the day before and had not seen a message from Dr Ragen to call me to tell me that he had not performed both procedures. I was upset and requested to receive the money back immediately for the procedure that wasn't performed. She checked with Dr Ragen and said I could pick up a check for $2300 later that morning, which my husband did. I was, and still am, completely baffled by the entire situation. Had Dr Ragen mentioned prior or during my procedure that he was not going to perform both procedures for whatever reason, I would have requested not to have either procedure done as I knew after my consultation with Brianne that the aggressive CO2 would not yield the results I was looking for and I certainly didn't want to go through this type of procedure twice. On October 27 at 2:00PM, I had my post op appointment with Dr Ragen and he immediately said he wasn't satisfied with the results and that he would be happy to complete the surgery I "believed" I had gotten and to make an appointment that was convenient for me. I made that appointment for January 12, 2021. At no time was there any mention of payment and as I was leaving I asked Natalya, Front Desk to confirm that I would not be responsible for any additional cost and if I was going to be, I asked her to contact me. I didn't hear anything from their office until January 5, when I received an email confirming my appointment and stating that the procedure would be $2300. At that time, I contacted Lori stating that I would like to either move forward with the lower lid surgery at no additional cost or I would like to be completely refunded for the aggressive CO2 that I paid $1400 for that didn't yield any positive results. They declined to do either of my requests claiming that I had signed both medical consents. Of course I did as I wanted to have BOTH procedures done! read more

My wife had incredible headache and high pressure that was way above normal. Narrow angle glaucoma was found and Dr. Ragen and his awesome staff(Dallas) were able to get us in within 6 hours, do the surgery and send her on her way. We are so thankful! read more

Ventura Eye Institute is a great place for eyes, but Britney at the reception desk needs a course in front desk etiquette. Dr. Ragen and his staff are amazing! Developed cataracts as a result of chemo--the gift that keeps on giving. Dr. Ragen performed surgery and inserted multi-focal lenses. No more contacts and my vision is 20/20. Better than it has been for the past 20 years! The surgery was absolutely uneventful, the staff at the office and Solar Surgery Center were supportive and informative every step of the way. The cataract surgery outcome was so good, I could see how tired and droopy my eyelids had become, so......back to Dr. Ragen for an upper eyelift. Could not have asked for a better result. I don't even want to give this butcher one star. It has taken me a long time to even think about writing a yelp review on this man, as he is certainly no doctor. I have a similar experience as another reviewer. I saw him 3 yrs. ago for an eye lift. This was a big deal for me, the expense as I would only be able to afford once and the fear of it being done well. I was referred to him by a friend, not anymore. I asked all the questions, followed all the rules and my eyes ended up looking fine on the outsides but there were big puffy areas on the insides of my eyes and crooked lines of stitching. I went in several times for consultations and I was repeatedly told it would get better. He finally one day gruffly put me in the chair with no explanation and used some sort of machine on my eyes that made me jump out of the chair. He said that's all I can and left the room.i was in shock. My eyes have not been the same since this man and I've seen several eye doctors since that say he should have addressed this issue as it is obvious it was not done correctly or with care. Please take my advise and find a real doctor and avoid this man at all costs! read more

Dr. Mike Ragen is an amazing surgeon. My most recent experience with Dr. Ragen is a laser peel and it was awesome - the results are terrific, the process was painless and the recovery was a piece of cake. The work he did with laser around my eyes eliminated 90% of wrinkles around my eyes and I am in my 60's. Woo- hoo! I have had people ask me if I have been on vacation because I "look so great" and the results have held up over the last two years. I also had Dr. Ragen do an eyelid repair (lift?) 10 years ago and the results were equally fabulous- painless, amazingly easy and I looked in believably younger, brighter and "perky" -yay! All still good. When I needed cataract surgery a bit before the norm, I went to Dr. Ragen as well- and I have very tough eyes because of my extreme vision. Stanford was afraid to do my cataract surgery because I have extreme amblyopia and told I should defer the surgery until I was at my "last straw" - although when I saw them I could not even drive due to the cataracts. Dr. Ragen did it right away, and gave me confidence it would go well. I saw out of my left eye for the first time in my life when he replaced that lens. I could not even believe it. I send everyone I know to Mike Ragen, including my children and other family, and friends. See Dr.Mike Ragen and you will have the most capable, professional and caring doctor whether you are dealing with eye health, cosmetic eye repair or a laser peel. Dr. Ragen is the absolute WORST doctor I have ever seen. I went to see Dr. Ragen to discuss options for removing some acne scars I had on my face 3 months prior to my wedding. Dr. Ragen recommended a laser resurfacing on the areas. He assured me that this was an easy and standard procedure and I should be completely healed for my big day! So after the procedure, my skin was bright red, almost like it was bleeding. I was mortified. Dr. Ragen continued to assure me that my skin would heal with the various topical creams he was prescribing. Needless to say 2 weeks before my wedding, my skin was riddled with discoloration! It was a nightmare! I continued to express my concerns with Dr. Ragen with numerous follow up appointments. Dr. Ragen finally admitted there was nothing else he could do. I was mortified! I had to hire a special make-up artist to cover the dark red areas where Dr. Ragen had scarred me. It was awful! So here is the kicker...a week after my wedding, I got a certified letter from Dr. Ragen's office (The Ventura Eye Institute) advising me they have released me from their practice!! So this quack "doctor" scars me and then when he can't fix it, he releases me from his practice! What an absolute atrocity! Never use Dr. Ragen for anything. He should have his license revoked! read more
