I work up this morning and after noticing a month ago that there was a a John Douglas Salon near my home in cypress I gave them a call. A friendly person by the name of Stacy answered the phone. I told her I knew it was last minute but was there anyone available who could see me today. She said yes she could see me. I went in and met with Stacy who didn't time talking to me about what kind of haircut I wanted. I asked for her professional input on a couple of things and settled on what I wanted her to do. I love my new cut, and I am very happy I made an appointment with Stacy Spencer's. She was professional and friendly. She listened to me and I was in and out within around an hour. I've been getting a facial by Kay here for several months now and I will say that it's the best facial I've had. Her prices are very reasonable compared to other places I've been and she takes her time and makes sure I'm happy with a added bonus of neck and shoulder massage Kay is very nice, professional and knowledgeable. My skin has never looked better and feels amazing. And recently she has started taking care of my eyebrows which is a blessing because I am not able to see well enough to do them myself, not only does she shape them she also tints them so I don't have to use a brow pencil. I'm a bit late on my review but better late than never. I had been referred to this place by a co-worker of mine to see Stacey.. I came in for a quick visit so she can check out my hair to see what can be done and also provide a quote. Stacey was super nice and gave me a quote of $150. Long story short she referred me to another stylist there who had an earlier availability. I said wtheck why not? since Stacey was so pleasant, but boy was I wrong. I had Audrey do my hair.. she had first cancelled an appointment on me just two hours before on the same day.. I really wanted my hair done and so I gave her a second chance and rescheduled. I admit she is experienced and did a good job on my hair.. I did like the end result but wasn't in love with it. What really made my experience go downhill was she changing the price on me. Keep in mind, I'm a new client and she had previously cancelled on me last minute. Also, what was unprofessional was not telling me the change of price before she started on my hair. Going from a quote of $150 to paying $212 is a big jump. I'm very disappointed in the lack of honoring the rate; Audrey listed a bunch of excuses as to why the price was increased. Obviously I would not go back here and will just continue my search to find a reasonable hair stylist. read more

I was suckered in to purchasing one of these promotional packages. In my defense, the guy was a very very good sales person. Anyways, I chose a stylist at this place because it was a few minutes away from my house and wanted to find a new place other than the salon I frequent in Irvine. I did, however, complete all 3 of my visits because I felt guilty for buying the darn promo, so I HAD to get my moneys worth. I'm not sure how the other stylist are..but mine.. the one part of the promo, who should be trying to get a clientèle, Tina, with a G, was pretty horrible. I am also a very prompt person and she was late. The 1st visit consists of a consultation, and a free wash and cut. I decided to color my hair back to its natural color as well. Let's just say I wasn't sure if she was dying my hair, or making splatter art on my body. Spots all over my arms and I had to mention something when i felt flickers of it getting on my cheeks, chin, forehead... Good thing I wore a black t-shirt. Another thing that irked me was that after the wash, the robes were not long enough, nor did she tie my hair in a towel, so my entire back was wet when I left. 2nd visit. woohoo she was on time and actually beat me. Nope, she was in the middle of talking with a co-worker so I still had to wait for them to finish. This was for deep conditioning so can't really mess that up. I asked how much this would normally cost and she said about like 20 bucks. Man, stupid promo was not worth it. 3rd visit. I decided to get hidden highlights to add a little texture to my blacker than black colored hair. I believed she messed up because it took extra long at the sink to re-color some parts. Normally, I wouldn't have minded, but she couldn't figure out how to get the seat back to recline so my neck and back were not able to rest comfortably while she washed it. I asked her how the promotion was doing for her and if clients came back to use the 50% off card. She said 'Not really." Gooooo figure. read more

I never realized this place is literally around the corner from my house. They open up super early compared to any other salon. I called in at 9am and I was told that I would receive a call back if a stylist was able to come in. Within minutes I got a call back and got scheduled within the hour. Audrey was my stylist. I had long hair and got quoted over the phone for $45-$65 for a woman's cut. I wanted to go from long hair to a bob and Audrey told me upfront her prices were a little higher which was going to total out to $75 which I did not mind. Audrey is amazing in so many different aspects. She has a dynamic personality which created a clientele relationship. She chopped my hair and then began to educate me on how I should treat my hair, everything from high end products to daily maintenance. I have been to high-end salons and never received the service that I did from Audrey. Every penny was worth what I paid for. You truly do get what you pay for. She took her time and was diligent in her craft. She is an expert in her field, with an impeccable background of years of experience. I cannot thank her enough and I am so satisfied with her professionalism along with an amazing personality!! read more

I LOVE John Douglas Salon! I have been coming to the salon since 2000, after losing my hair to chemotherapy. After growing my hair back and finally ready for my first "real" hair cut, I came to Sandra and gave her full reign to do whatever she wanted. Using her many years of experience, training and expertise in hair-coloring techniques, she literally had me blown away by the time she was finished. Not only was my hair styled gorgeously, but the color was a beautiful shade of blonde with highlights that were absolutely striking. Over the past 13 years of having my hair styled at John Douglas, and having a front row chair at the entrance of the salon, I've had the ability to see hundreds of customers who have had their hair styled here, and I'm always in awe of how amazing the customers look as they walk out the door. I've seen everything from girls getting "up-dos" for proms to women who have had the bad experience of a terrible dye job from other salons to elderly women who come in for their weekly hairstyle, and I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed by what I've seen -- not from any stylist at John Douglas -- ever. Over the past couple years, I started to incorporate some of the other amenities of the salon, including facials and manicures/pedicures. Genna, who has worked at the salon for several years as the esthetician and skin care specialist, has an amazingly soft touch, and every time I get a facial from her, I feel absolutely and completely pampered. The same is true for Chelsea, who is the manicurist/pedicurist. She puts 1,000% into everything she does, including everything from the creativity she uses to polish your nails to the foot massage she gives with every pedicure. My only regret is that I didn't start using their services earlier. Another absolute must is to ask for Somya, one of the stylists and also Sandra's assistant, to wash your hair. She is a trained therapist who literally has the unbelievable ability to make the "dreaded" hair washing sink an enjoyable experience. read more

After finding myself free for the afternoon, I decided to get a few things done - including my hair. I'm new to the area, so I figured I'd try something new. When I called, they had availability, so I headed over. It took me a little while to find this spot because the Yelp/Google map directs you to the opposite shopping center (Cypress Plaza). This facility is behind the CVS. Fifteen minutes after my call, I arrived, but my stylist, Sandy, had an upcoming appointment that she forgot about. We discussed what I wanted to do with my hair while we waited for her scheduled client and since I only live a few minutes away, I decided to come back after she was done. Since her credit card payment system wasn't up and running yet, I had to go grab cash, anyway. When I got back, Sandy promptly seated me and got started. The cut turned out nicely, but it's not earth shattering. For $45, I expected more, but I'm sure much of the cost goes to overhead and facility charges. It's a day-spa, after all. Overall, the experience was OK, but I'll keep looking for a place to become a regular. read more

I am so grateful that I trusted the outstanding reviews I have read throughout this feed. First, I called to request a same day appointment (feeling a bit nervous) and the lady on the phone was so pleasant and welcoming and was able to get me an appointment with BIANCA. Coming in, I was highly impressed that we were greeted immediately by warm smiles, hellos and a clean and beautiful environment. This is a high quality professional salon! The second we met Bianca I knew I liked her, she's so sweet and actually listened! I was with my 16 year old daughter with pictures that weren't very specific and didn't give the best description either, but somehow she knew what we wanted. The entire cut she kept checking in. How's the length? More? How about this? In about an hour the end result a beautiful back to school cut that made mom and daughter both delighted. Bianca will definitely be my daughter's go to stylist. I also was watching the other technicians and all their cuts looked great too! I noticed they serve all ages/styles and they look great! I'm actually pretty picky most the time but I felt it was necessary to give props when props are due. Let me also add the prices are very fair and reasonable too! read more
