Stopped in on our way home from cheer practice. No appt so they kindly asked if I could come back a couple hours later. We arrived and I was immediately complimented on my dress. (Thanks for making a girl feel good!) My daughter needed a couple inches cut, layers and highlights. This was her first salon experience and we could not have asked for a better experience. Autumn did an amazing job making my sweet girl feel beautiful. She listened to what she wanted and just wow'd us. I have to compliment all the staff from front desk to stylists.... Every single person in there was so nice and made my daughter feel amazing. Truly felt like a local neighborhood salon. When you find a great hairdresser, you tend to hold on for dear life and hope they never retire or close. The latter happened to my go to spot; They reduced days and hours and their very limited hours booked up faster than I could plan out. As a random chance of fate, a few days before Thanksgiving there was a post on the WGG neighborhood page that there was some availability at Roots and Mane. I messaged Monica immediately and she booked my appointment. The shop is still relatively new to the area and sparkling clean with great aesthetics inside. There's plenty of hair care products as well as a small display of locally made jewelry. Parking lot is plenty; it's in the Shakey's-Dairy Queen plaza. Monica was attentive to my concerns, what's worked in the past for me, and suggestions on a short hairstyle that works for my "wake up and go" lifestyle. :) I know a lot of people use their stylist as therapists but Monica was great making small talk but also let me enjoy a low-grade power down moment when she read that I was not a talker. She did a great job and I will definitely be back for her specifically! Did I purposely save R&M for my 1K review? You bet. 6 stars! Highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

I love this place. My stylist of 20 years kept moving further and further south to the point that the long drive on the 405 that always had traffic became grossly inconvenient. I've looked for a new stylist off and on for a while, always returning to my long time person and the long drive. Not anymore though. I found a new home and a new stylist in my backyard. personally don't do these but $95 for a silk press and a style so the curls can fall out? Is ridiculous. I believe if I'm the client in the chair, my wishes on what I asked should be met. After reading the great reviews I made a call to Roots and Mane to make an appointment. Was told the stylist I had asked for was not in but they took my number and she would call me back the next day. No return call the next day so I called again the following day to ask for her and told she was busy with a customer. When I explained I had left a message previously I was put through to her only to be snapped at that she wasn't accepting any new customers. Wow, nice customer service there Kelly! It's obvious she hadn't planned to return my original call or pass it along to anyone within the salon to let me know so I could make alternative plans. I might have opted to use another available stylist in your salon but after your rude treatment I'll take my business elsewhere. Rude! read more

Chanelle brought my hair back to life in a way that I have never experiended before. I did a hack job on my hair and created horrible layers. Chanelle shaped my coily hair so that it looks great straight and curly. The overall health of my hair has improved and the manageability has been A1.
