The local community pools in Los Angeles are not as clean or affordable for families that have more than 1 child. There were plenty for chairs when we arrived at 2:30pm on a Wednesday and they had 2 waterslides that all perfect for everyone. The architectural design was really well thought out. Parents can watch their kids from chairs without being too obstructed. Thanks for a great time !!

The large splash pad area where they have buckets dumping and different sprinklers is absolutely amazing. I love it that they also have benches so parents could sit and watch and did not have to participate if you did not want to. Everything was very clean and the lifeguards were very attentive. This was such a great find in my community. They do allow children to wear lifejackets, but you may not wear lifejackets to go down the waterslides. The water in the large slide area is 3'6". This allowed my seven year old nephew to go down the slides, but the five-year-old was not able to. There were still plenty of other great areas for the five year old to play in with the splash pad area and the pool with depth less than 1'. Plenty of lawn chairs and I did notice that you can even reserve lawn chairs, I'm sure there is a fee for this but I did not inquire.

This park seems like a relatively new park in appearance. It is split in half by 2nd street with…read morethe northern half having the majority of amenities. There you will find a nice playground, some paved paths, and a splash park. On the south end there is greenspace and some shade structures. What is lacking here is parking for visitors other than the folks who live nearby (the buildings look like condos.) Parking in the nearby lots require permits. There is very limited street parking on 2nd though I didn't see anyone utilizing that small stretch of curb. Although there is water on site for the splash park, I didn't see any restrooms either. So, the park seems to be intended for those nearby residents/tenants, but not so welcoming for others. Note: I also didn't see any plaque about Mr Thornburg which I looked for since it was a "memorial" park. Review #929

However, during my visit, the lawn area had not been maintained causing the lawn grass to be nearly as tall as the decorative plantings in the flowerbeds! Seriously, if the city wants to spend money for a beautiful park, set aside some budget dollars for maintaining what you've built. The lanes are old, and they could probably use some updating. These lanes were hard, It was like a sport shot, if you want a challenge, this is the place. They are older wooden lanes, the wear was bad the arrows and dots on my lane was actually difficult to see and it was not during "cosmic bowling" I would go back just for a challenge, however during the summer they will be closed for the remainder of my stay here in Muncie, IN.
