Our child was made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe by owner/operator, Luke Lautzenheiser. It's been a few months and she still cries daily. DeVeau's coins itself as "...your kid's HAPPY PLACE" but how is that the case when a child is bullied and retaliated against (by the new owner) at the only gym she's known since age 3? This review is not to bash the gym but to share our heartbreaking experience. For my 12 year old child- it's about kids hearing the devastating voice of their peer and her inability to comprehend being bullied and retaliated against by an 'adult' at a place she once called her second home. For us as parents- it's about an unbelievable experience at a place we've loved, raved about and supported for many years and the continual mental trauma our 12 year old daughter suffers from months after making one of the hardest decisions of her little life. DeVeau's isn't the same place it used to be. Now the new owner walks out on the practice floor to intimidate children during practice. It's a place where children who are learning/practicing skills that if not fully focused could potentially cause harm being put in the position to focus on- Is Mr. Luke going to approach me today and if so, when and where? That was our child's focus at practice even with parental support in attendance. After giving notice, Luke still found a way to come after her by having his program manager attempt to keep her from competing at (what my kid calls "Big Kid's Nationals") USA Gymnastics Championships (although she qualified at her first competition) by failing to register her and not telling us until after the deadline. Yes, this happened at DeVeau's. Thankfully, a new gym (out of state) allowed her to join their team and they were able to get that corrected so she could practice and compete at Nationals. Sadly, this is the kind of retaliatory behavior that happens when a child doesn't agree to stay at DeVeau's once the gym owner apologizes after admittedly making her feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately, there are no other trampoline and tumbling programs in the Indianapolis area so our daughter had to give up her dream of continuing the sport for her current safety. There are so many wonderful coaches at DeVeau's and they are the best part of the gym. Even with the traumatic experience our daughter endured, she does have many wonderful memories of her time with coaches she loves. Those experiences are the things we will cherish. Hopefully those memories will help her in her healing process.

From the cardio to the weights, the daily "workout" person has plenty of options. And for those interested in other activities, there is a gym (flex) that I've seen basketball, volleyball, and of course lots of pickleball played in. Plus, there is a sweet gymnastics area and a cheer program! If you are into tennis, the facility is top notch, plus they have 3 tennis courts that serve a dual purpose, so there are 6 painted pickleball court lines on them for those that prefer a tennis surface. The process was easy and very informative. All our questions from billing, to location, times, instructors, etc were answered at registration. The first class we came in and we were immediately greeted as we approached the front desk. I let them know it was our first visit. They welcomed us, introduced the instructor to me and my daughter and let us know how the process worked. The class is one hour and there is no wasted time. They move from station to station and get instructions on how to do the work they are focusing on. I look around at all the instructors and students and see many, many smiles and excited faces. I see the kids confidence being boosted as they accomplish the task at their skill level. They are challenged and encouraged. Our instructor's name is Faith. She is doing great with her group. Looking around, I see many instructors with kids at different skill levels all doing great things with their students. I am very happy with this gym. The equipment is well padded, the gym has much to offer in a safe environment. They have an excellent observation area right on floor level where things can be seen and heard. There is also a play area for kids not in gymnastics and WiFi is offered to guests.

I saw massive behavior improvement in him and I attribute that to the way Kendall runs the classes. The kids have a ton of fun but have to listen when it's listening time and Kendall treats them with a kind but no-nonsense attitude. I've seen him interact with kids of all abilities and truly everyone is welcome at MyGym. The facility itself is very clean with plenty of parking. I've never felt grimy after leaving like I have at some other kid centered places. The bathroom is always clean and hand sanitizer is encouraged to keep the kids healthy. Birthday parties are a STEAL. You get the whole facility for the kids to use unlike some of the trampoline parks. And Kendall leads them in games and has special moments for the birthday kid. I just sit back and watch my kid have a blast! He even hands out the cake/cupcakes/pizza (whatever you decide to bring). Probably the hidden gem in Fishers are the summer camps. It's a few hours of drop off camp and a snack is provided. You can pick and choose which days you want to attend and can save more by registering early. I like that we can occasionally have something for him to do but not have to commit to a full week if we don't want to. You'll be hard pressed to find a negative thing to say about Kendall and MyGym. It's such an awesome place!

In particular the owner, a man in his late 40s, with a background in basketball who also "coaches" and "spots" the girls, is inappropriate in his interaction with some of the older girls. Tickling, name calling and touching in a away that my daughter and her friends find unnerving. That in itself is grounds to leave immediately and unfortunately I missed the signs. My daughter did not progress in her skills as would be expected either. In less than two years on the APlus team her gymnastics skill level actually stalled if not declined. Multiple coaches coming and going, lacking the expertise to spot effectively, provide direction, skill correction, and the inspiring of confidence. In the first week of practice with a new team, the acceleration of my daughters skills was dramatic. In fact it would appear she progressed more in one week with her new team than she has in the entire time at APlus. Considering all of the above, just my opinion, do your research and monitor your child closely! There are plenty of other gymnastic facilities In and around Carmel, Fisher Noblesville area, AND believe it or not they are LESS expensive than A plus! , one would think that the cost per month or APlus team would be less that competitors, but that is not the case it is actually more cost per month at all girls from APlus who joined the new gym head coach who He is in the words of my daughter "creep"

Well, the girls in charge of the party today made my decision easy. I won't be doing that! I'll say one girl in particular was very mean. My 3yr old was in tears for at least 10 minutes before I decided to leave because she was yelled at for going into a "play" area she didn't know she was not allowed to be in. Before that incident, other moms were also commenting how mean the girl was. Earlier on the same girl was very angry that another kid at the party threw up, saying "I'm not cleaning that up". Now surely that's going to happen when you have kids eat then go run around....Anyway, I wont be sending my kids to this location again.
