My dentist was an Air Force Colonel who recently retired. My wife said we need to pick a new dentist. I'll be polite, his replacement is a doowacker. My wife looks at our new plan and chooses a dentist in Middle Island?! While I'm getting coffee across from the campus, I see a new dentist office that opened? Bless my stars! I walk in and speak to the office manager. I tell her I have great dental plan, can I come to the Koeppel Dental Group? Middle Island is so far for me to drive and, wait a second! Is that fresh baked cookies I smell? The office manager is looking at my insurance and explains that the Koeppel Dental Group is a private dentist practice. If you need oral surgery or a crown replaced, the Koeppel Dental Group is ready to assist. But, I can make sure that we will clean your teeth and use my insurance. How awesome is that? Here's the dad review. Just say you live 100+ miles away from Stony Brook and your child is going to the college. If they need any type of dental work, I highly recommend the Koeppel Dental Group. Every Dental Hygienist has wonderful bedside manor. Both Dr. Moe and Dr. P have been absolutely wonderful doctors. They always thoroughly explain each procedure and ease my anxiety when I'm sitting in the chair. Both are also extremely gentle. What sets them apart from other offices around-They are up on all of the new technology and offer procedures that aren't done in all offices. The office is extremely clean and very modern. I would definitely recommend coming to Bayport Dental Care for all of your Dental needs! Me and my family have been nothing but satisfied with the service we receive here! It's changed a bit as maybe dentists are friendlier than they used to be (or maybe I'm just doing a better job in brushing my teeth?) which is where Sachem Dental Group comes into play. This Lake Ronkonkoma location is my new dentist spot and it fills in all the holes (pun intended) for what I need. Well, first it fit the bill for my wife as she was having some mouth pain and we didn't want to go all the way to New Hyde Park (where I used to live and my old dental location) to figure things out when SDG was right up the road from where we now live. Her experience was pretty positive and so we migrated our biannual checkups to this Hawkins Ave building. My first personal experience came a few weeks back where I had a mid morning appointment which I got to ahead of when it was scheduled and they took me just a smidge past my appointment time. While waiting, I overheard the people working at the front desk and they seemed friendly to other patients. The waiting area was also cutely decorated from the Fall along with some funny dental jokes written out in a few spots. I can vibe with this. Once getting called, the hygienist was nice enough as she cleaned through my teeth and didn't reprimand me for my semi-delayed trip to the dentist (a bit over a year, sorry). We took some X-rays too which took a little time as she was having a little difficulty with the machine, but she was apologetic and helpful during this. Back in the room, the dentist came in and looked through my X-rays and mouth to see that there weren't many issues to be seen. He was in and out pretty quickly which felt kind of fast, but he still seemed nice in that short interaction and honestly it's probably better that he wasn't in there for very long! I set up my next appointment for six months from now (the hours that SDG are open are pretty good) and I was on my way. Overall, Sachem Dental Group of Lake Ronkonkoma is a formidable spot for your dentist needs. It has a clean interior, nice enough staff, and generally smooth interactions during dental visits (my wife went the same day and her experience was positive too) to definitely keep this place as my dentist going forward. I'm glad everything went well, but that still doesn't change my deeper feelings about dentists in general. #sorrynotsorry

I had booked with Dr. Absatz in July but ended up getting switched to Granati since he was on vacation. I figured how bad could he be? The man walked into the room having a conversation with either himself or someone who wasn't listening from the hall. He kept carrying on about random topics (none of which involved my teeth or the X-rays). It was extremely hard to follow him. It seemed like he either smoked a pound of marijuana, was on heavy prescription medication, or was in the room with the laughing gas for too long. It seriously reminded me of speaking to someone who was high on drugs. Extremely hard to follow, back and forth from one topic to the next. Making zero sense. Barely looked at my mouth and was out the door. & when I mean barely, someone winking would have had a better view of my mouth than him. Aside from all of this, I booked again for December with Absatz and figured I wouldn't have to deal with any of this nonsense again. This brings me to my most recent visit, one week ago. I came in for my appointment that was booked 6 months in advance, and the woman at the desk acted like I was a walk in and told me they don't accept my insurance. I let her know 6 months ago they did and I had an appointment. She told me that I have an honest face (I was wearing a mask) and she's sure I'm telling the truth. Jackie, the dental hygienist I had during this experience, was very pleasant and well educated. She even numbed my mouth so I wouldn't experience any discomfort during the cleaning. This is something she offered to do, I didn't need to ask her. Very kind and you can tell she knows her stuff. After she was all done I was surprised to see Granti come stumbling into the room. Again he was speaking to someone who wasn't there and rambling on not making any sense. Number 1 I didn't think my appointment was with him, and number 2 he obviously wasn't having an off day last time. He specifically said he has had Covid Covid before and wants to just get "omicron" and get it over with. That doesn't seem very professional to me, but ok. Then he started rambling on about the Simpson's, coney island, and someone with lung cancer who hugs people. Then he started talking about women and how they look. He mentioned the dental hygienists mother and how she looks my age, and not that I look old, but the woman's mother looks young. Then he carried on about how his "fiancée" and someone else are going to fight over his credit card at the mall. I had NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. But I do know that he didn't look at my mouth AGAIN. How is this guy a dentist??? He even has his own "parking spot" but in the two times I've seen him, haven't seen him do a thing but carry on about his personal business. The icing on the cake is this. I ended up with a sore in my mouth after the cleaning. Right in the area where the vacuum sits. It is the day before Christmas Eve and it's been almost a week and it's still bothering me. I called up requesting an antibiotic to maybe get rid of something that was more than likely caused by bacteria. It took two phone calls to hear that the dentist refused to send an antibiotic. The woman on the phone said if it's still irritated tomorrow call and we will send something. I said aren't you closed tomorrow? She said oh yea it's Christmas Eve. Right on their website it states they treat canker sores and cold sores with medicine. Maybe if the dentist had actually looked in my mouth he would have been able to see something brewing or irritation from the cleaning. So grinch granati refused to send a simple antibiotic and I will be left with an irritated bacterial infection in my mouth that was 100% caused by his dirty vacuum. Horrible, 100% do not recommend. If I had Medicaid and my insurance was FREE, I still wouldn't see this looney tune.

Of course I was nervous, he explained the whole procedure in detail at my exam, again on Saturday for the procedure and discussed the options one more time. I couldn't believe how easy the extraction went. Fast forward that evening and next day felt fine, no pain. For what was done, my stress level was so minimal.
