Such a bad experience here. This is literally my first negative review on Yelp…read more I had a haircut here six months ago from one of their stylists, it turned out well, subtle layers that formed a v shape in the back, slightly shorter in the front.. I came back to have my hair cut by the same person again. I requested "the smallest trim possible" just to do a pass around the bottom of all the hair and maintain exactly the same shape. He arrived almost an hour and a half late, another woman had to leave because they had double booked the time slot. He was drinking an XL Red Bull and talking about partying the night before. I was honestly not sure if he was sober but at this point we were halfway through the haircut. He told me he couldn't text me a product we talked about because a female celebrity was listening to him through his phone and she would start stalking me. He said she was stalking him and sending spies to keep watch on him. He showed me his instagram full of threats he made towards her which really freaked me out but I stayed because it was just a hair appointment and almost over. When I saw my hair I was shocked! He cut off the entire v shape in the back and gave me no layers just an (uneven) square shape that when dry is actually shorter in the underneath layer/ towards the center. I was so taken aback because I had made the clearest, simplest request to keep the same shape, and stressed how much I was trying to grow out my hair. I asked him to fix the corners and he ended up just cutting deeper into the front which looked so awful. I didn't ask him to try to fix it anymore because I didn't trust him. I honestly cried for two days about my hair and then returned to ask the owner if anyone there could clean up the unevenness and round out the bottom of my hair. She trimmed it for free which was so kind of her but at the same time was done very hastily while she had another appointment on the books. It was like she just wanted to appease me but didn't actually take the time to listen or care about my hair. When I got home I still had really uneven square hair but this time even shorter! She had just gone over everything he did and trimmed it instead of really assessing the shape. It seemed really rushed and distracted at the time but I also trusted her because she was the owner of the salon. I got home even more devastated than before. I had intended to treat myself to a trim to make my hair healthier and instead lost about a years' worth of hair growth in two days. There were zero layers, and what appeared to be chunks taken out of the front. I was so upset that I would have to take another day off work and spend even more money to have my hair fixed somewhere else. I returned to the salon and asked if I could have a refund so I could afford to pay for another haircut- this is an expense I was planning on making twice a year not twice in one month. I explained that I had an important photoshoot and a family memorial service coming up and that I was embarrassed to wear my hair down because it looked so insane and crooked. They offered to cut it again, which was kind but I explained that since I had already asked twice for them to fix it didn't feel comfortable doing that. They also offered me a conditioning treatment but I declined because that wouldn't fix the issue of the shape of my hair. The owner kept saying of course your hair didn't turn out evenly because it was cut dry- but she was the one who chose to do that, I felt so stupid for trusting her. After pleading with them for a while they eventually said all they could gave me $50 and a small vial of conditioner which I accepted. I appreciate that they gave me a partial refund but it can't make up for all the hair, time and money I have lost. I think it would be the least they could do to offer me a refund because they messed my hair up not just once but twice. I feel so awful that I let these people ruin my hair that took me so long to grow. Not only did I lose my length and shape of my hair I now have to spend hundreds of dollars more and take off another day of work to drive to LA to have my hair cut again which is not in my budget of time or money. I want to cry every time I look in the mirror. I would give anything to go back to last week and not get my hair done here.

First facial. And the experience was enjoyable but a bit odd…read more Lori was lovely and walked me through every step of the process: The steam, the setup, each cream, etc. The deep-cleansing facial included a neck and arm massage, tons of cleansers and creams and masks and hot towels. The good: - My face did feel really clean after the facial. A little sticky, after all of the moisturizer, but clean. - Loved the Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm used on my eyes and lips! The eh: - The esthetician Oceanne confirmed with my date and time was different than the one I had. Not a huge deal but confusing. - No background. The esthetician kept asking me questions and saying that I should have filled out a questionnaire but I never got one. She was overly insistent about knowing a full medical history - just for a facial. It felt invasive. The bad: - The massage was weak (and I usually ask masseuses to ease up on pressure!) - Something in the next room over came CRASHING down. Not exactly relaxing! - I asked what type of facial the esthetician recommended for my skin type and she didn't answer me. It was strange. Did they not want return business? - I asked what products would be good for my skin type and it was the same - no real answer. Lori recommended a full "treatment plan" but made no real effort to set one up. (In all fairness, I did email the salon for recommendations later and Celeste was lovely with getting back to me with product names.) Still strange.

I came to the salon for eyelash extensions and waxing with Jessica, and a haircut with Gayane - I…read moregot a gift certificate (such a great gift idea!). I have been coming to this salon for haircuts for years. EYELASH EXTENSIONS: Jessica specializes in Russian volume eyelashes (where multiple lashes are placed in fans onto natural eyelashes). While I was excited, I was a little apprehensive. I had gotten 'classic' eyelash extensions elsewhere for my wedding, but they were a bit heavy and I always felt like they looked 'fake'. I was looking to achieve something even more natural, and I also get very nervous when people touch around my eyes. Jessica was great at explaining the difference between the two techniques, and assured me that we could achieve a natural look with the 'volume' lashes. Because they are finer, they remain light and 'fluffy' looking, and are easily customized. You can get a very dramatic look, or a very natural one, depending on the length and number of lashes that are placed. They also last longer. Getting them done was a breeze, I didn't feel ANYTHING - Jessica's steady hands and pleasant demeanor helped me to calm down. You can really tell that she knows what she's doing. I probably could have fallen asleep but we chatted the whole time! The lashes, compared to my previous 'classic' ones, are extremely lightweight. I can't feel them at all, and they are so soft!! I was floored at how natural they look - it was exactly what I wanted. I'm absolutely thrilled, and will definitely be back. WAXING: For waxing, this salon uses exclusively hard wax (which doesn't stick to the skin like muslin strips do) - it makes for an experience that is minimally painful (as much as it can be!). The experience was quick, and afterwards, a bit of aloe helped to calm things down. HAIR: I have been getting my hair cut here with Gayana for years - and she recently helped me through cutting a whopping seven inches off of my hair, even though I was SO nervous (I've had the same long-layered hairstyle for ten years). She gave me great advice on handling the weight of my hair with a short hairstyle, and steered me away from a blunt cut (thank goodness) to avoid my thick hair getting too fluffy. I truly appreciated her advice, rather than her just following the photos I brought in without considering the hair types. We found something that would achieve the look I wanted while respecting my hair type. Overall, I have to say that while I started coming to Oceanne just for hair, I am just so happy every time I try something new. Thanks Celeste and everyone at Oceanne for taking care of me after all of these years!!
