WARNING!!!! In 2023, I engaged JH to install a new tile roof. A few months after the completion of the tile roof, which amounted to $40,000, I discovered a leak in the flat roof. It was determined that they had not adequately integrated the back flat roof with the tile roof, unlike the front, which ultimately led to the leak. I reached out to them to address the pitch issue. I had to wait several weeks for a single individual, as the company indicated, who could perform the repair on the initial leak. Subsequently, I encountered another leak (both leaks occurred within less than a year after the tile roof was finished) and contacted them for assistance in placing tarps and sandbags, which I had on hand, only to be informed that no one was available. This occurred during hurricane season, and I expressed my situation as a 69-year-old woman in need of someone to secure my roof as water poured in from the previous leak. It seemed that my concerns were overlooked. I communicated with Jake Babbitt (the new owner, who was rather impolite), as well as Austin, Taylor, Mara, Fong, and Robert. A neighbor and I ascended to my roof and spent two hours securing the tarps. By the way, they could have recommended that I contact EMERGENCY TARPS FOR ASSISTANCE. I was astonished to discover broken/cracked tiles and significant gaps where the mortar had not been filled. Consequently, I had to hire another roofing contractor to correct the substandard workmanship and also incurred expenses for two flat roof replacements. I followed up numerous times to inquire about the existence of a warranty, only to be told that no one was available, and from that moment onward, I was ignored. I was unaware that the company had been sold. My advice is to verify who is pulling/signing the permit, as this could indicate that the company was in the process of transitioning or had been sold. read more

Day of install I met with Crew lead Johnny to go over the plan for my roof. they came with an army of labor 13 guys! The team worked from 7a -5:30p and only stopped for lunch. My roof was complete, my property looked as if they were never there. From sales to installation communication was on point. this should be the standard of all roofing contractors. Highly recommend! An "Installer Team" - 12 men of the highest caliber, headed by "Johnny" installed my roof in a day. They were like an orchestrated symphony to watch. Each new their own roll; never stumbled into one another; chatter never interfered with the work at hand; and my property was left as if no one had ever paid me a visit. All of my shrubs and flowers were fully covered. - clean-up was performed - leaving all exterior areas cleaner than when they arrived. I love my new roof. John Hogan Roofing in Pinellas County is a scam and a ripoff! After having some work done, I tried to pay the roofer. He told me someone would call or bill me. I never received a single phone call or bill. I was habing several repairs on my home and lots going on, so over time I honesly forgpt about it. Then one day I came home to a letter from an attorney. When I called them to apologize about forgetting and to immediately pay, they not only charged me for my bill, but they also snuck in a separate charge for $300 attorney fees, saying that's the only way they got me to pay. When I called to talk with them, the office girl told me they tried calling me to bill me several times and said she kept getting someone saying she had the wrong number (lies). She also said they knocked on my door, several times, but I never answered. YET, WHERE WAS MY OFFICIAL BILL? Never once did they mail me a bill or leave a bill on my door, if they supposedly knocked on it. I finally spoke to Mr. HOGAN himself and he is not nice either and won't give me the money back. What a scam! And what terrible customer service!! read more

The ROOF --- done in one day! Today John Hogan roofing came to my house to do what was to be a two day roof replacement. So, we expected pounding and noise for two days. They arrived at 7 with a small army of men. By 9 AM they pretty much had the old roof pretty well off. By 3 PM they pretty much had the new roof on and were finishing up the edge details and the vents. By 7 PM they were done. They cleaned up everything including the lanai and pool! Searched relentlessly for nails with their magnetic rollers. There was absolutely no debris left behind. One day and DONE. We couldn't be happier with the way they handled the job. read more

Waited over two weeks for an estimate they set up two appointments never showed up very unreliable. Didn't even call. Very disappointing.

It took 5 days for them to call me back to make an appointment. We did agree on an appointment date and time. Told me it would be there at 5:30 and no later than 6:00. He was a no show and never called. Still has not called me as of today. This is very disrespectful to me as a potential customer. He should have told me he didn't need anymore business. I work for an insurance carrier and have spread the word not to recommend him to any insured since he is unreliable. read more

After a very unpleasant experience with another roofer (see other reviews on this site) , It was wonderful dealing with John Hogan. John worked with us on scheduling the work around my other contractor, and has been patient and professional while I have been getting his payment from my Insurance company. John's crew came out on the day scheduled, worked with my inspector and finished the same day. Roof looks great - all the lines are straight, they picked up all the trash and debris, and I couldn't find any complaint. As a disclaimer - after he stopped by to go over our estimate it turns out my wife knows him - but that would not have changed this review or got him the job.. 5 stars for you John for a job well done! I am updating my latest review an increasing there score from a 1 to a 3. I am doing this because though it was not a pleasant experience dealing with this company after the roof was installed, the crew dos a good job and their salesman Robert was fantastic and sold me on this company. My last review did cause some commotion and I am happy to say the repairs to my home were finally completed after 2 years. John Hogan came to my home and personally apologized and claimed he never knew I was calling me the office. He is a good man and I feel he tried to run an honest company. The woman however who answer the phones are horrific and certainly one of the main causes to my 1 star review. I feel a change needs to be made in their customer service department, continuing education on basic people skills would be a good start. I am happy this process is finally complete. read more

When my wife and I bought our Clearwater home in early 2012, we knew the roof was at the end of its life. We patched and repaired and fought the leaks, and eventually, it was time to replace the roof. We wanted to buy the last roof we'll buy on the house. We wanted something that looks sharp. We researched and decided to go with a steel roof, except for a flat portion which would be covered in TPO. We knew that steel would be more expensive in the short time frame but that it outlasted oil based roofs, and was more energy efficient. We had several estimates from folks around the area. We had several estimates that were lower than John Hogan, but something from the start leaned us in that direction. They were upfront and honest through the entire process. They didn't try to sell us things that we didn't need and instead steered us to purchasing a quality roof. We had a few bumps along the way. After we put our deposit down, it was 8 weeks before our roof was installed. We were contracted for 70mil TPO, but we were told we could only get 50mil. The install went quickly. One day, tear off, put on TPO and peel and stick, and the next day put on the steel. The job was finished. It's been a couple of weeks since the install. So far, the house looks very sharp and there have been no signs of leaking into the house. Prior to the install, we had a leak coming in at the master window that dripped all night during the rainy nights. Roof was completed in early Dec 2014. read more

The crew from John Hogan Roofing company destroyed the siding on my roof and then Mr. Hogan had the audacity to tell me he could fix it but it would cost me a lot of money! He stated that it would be cheaper to hire someone else to do the repair because it cost him a great deal of money to insure his employees. I was not the least bit impressed with this companies professionalism and the manner in which they interacted with me and communicated the status and progress of their work. I was told on the day that all the work was completed and Mr. Hogan came to collect his check that the crew had damaged the siding on my roof and whether I wanted them to repair it. read more

John Hogan Roofing installed our GAF certified new roof in 1 day including replacing all areas where we had rotting wood. They covered the area around the house to protect our property and rolled the entire property to find all roofing nails. Hogan's does not use subcontractors. My neighbor used them first, she knew the owners wife, and told me what a decent, honest company this was. They did great for her roof. Our roof itself was fine, once we finally got someone to do something about them not using matching wood on our fascia. The customer service is terrible, the office staff is nice, but to get the actual service people to get back to me still took 4 phone calls and 6 weeks. They kept telling me John Hogan himself would call to address our concerns, but he never did. The workers ate lunch in our yard and left a bunch of chicken bones on the ground, which my neighbors dog tried to eat. My neighbor and I both stepped on roofing nails within an hour after they left. After 3 months I still do not have my wind mitigation report for my insurance company. I very much regret using them. We bought the plan with the best warranty, and I seriously have my doubts that if we ever needed to use it, that they would follow through. We tried to be understanding and I really don't like posting bad reviews, but we have given them multiple chances to handle this properly in a reasonable amount of time. I am so very disappointed in this company and really regret giving them our money. read more

Had a few estimates prior to hiring them. Hogan Roofing was the most reasonable. Robert their salesman was extremely informative , quick and efficient with his estimate. Put a small down payment down, 2 weeks later we were contacted and asked if it would be convenient for them to start the next day! They arrived exactly the time they said they would. Worked from 7a.m. until 7 p.m. Our roof was done in one day. Cleaned up our yard and went over it with a magnetic device to insure there weren't any nails left behind. All the employees were extremely nice and very professional. Final payment was due after inspection , which was a week or so.
