I live in a high rise condo on Clearwater Beach. Because our balconies are being repaired I needed to remove my slider door and side panels. Douglas Mfg. put my doors in about 5 years ago and did a remarkable job. I called them to remove my doors and subsequently re-install them. The price was more than fair. The work was none quickley and efficiently and the workers were very neat and tidy. They were friendly and went above and beyond to respect me and my home. It was a big decision to replace our sliders and windows. Seven months ago we placed our order for 3 large sliders and one window. Douglas held to that date which is amazing in itself. Both the owner Mark and Ken answered our questions and naturally for a large purchase itself you do have a lot of questions. Install week was last week and the crew led by Mario did an amazing job! Professional, thorough, and following all our condo rules got the bulk of the work done in 3.5 days. After the inspection, Ken was back in less than 2 hours to finish the trim caps. First, let's say I got duped by the cookie guy window company. Last December (2022) I agreed on having fourteen (14) windows replaced on my home in Redington Shores with PGT storm windows. The salesman advised me that after I put 50% down that I would get an installation date in two months. Not hearing from anyone after I gave them a huge deposit; I called the company and was advised that the install would be done sometime in June. Feeling like I got one pulled over on me, I waited until June arrived. Still, no one contacted me from the company. After calling them, I was then advised that the install date was still not scheduled...but that it would be very soon. I demanded my deposit back and after going back and forth through several different people - received my money back. Then I was fortunate enough to contact Douglas Manufacturing for a quote. The owner of the company, Mark Miller came right out and gave me a no pressure quote from the family-owned business. To my surprise, for the same exact PGT impact resistance windows it was approximately one third less than the cookie guys. Three months later Mr. Miller's crew of two very nice installers and a project manager came and installed my windows in a week. I had a specialty window (Garden three-sided window over the kitchen sink) that needed some fabrication by the project manager, which was done in sort order thereafter. I had a great experience with Douglas Manufacturing after finding them through PGT's website. I just had 4 windows replaced last week - two double hung with white grids per my HOA and two sliding windows. Install went flawlessly. The two installers were very friendly, covered all furniture/TV's/Beds, and cleaned up after themselves. They also took the time to re-teach me how to open/clean the double hung and sliders. Regarding price, they were very competitive as I had 7 window companies come out along with conversations over the phone with an additional 4 companies. They weren't the cheapest, but the cheapest companies didn't use PGT which was non-negotiable to me. They had the least "car salesman" approach of all the companies that came out. It was actually the owner that visited my home and quoted me! They were the most straight shooting company. They also offer 3% off if you pay by cash or check. They were prompt with submitting the permit request to Pinellas County, scheduled the county to come out and inspect after install, and then came back to clean the windows and put in the finishing pieces that couldn't be installed in order for the inspector to prove they were hurricane proof via PGT stickers. Douglas Manufacturing did an absolutely flawless, beautiful job of replacing our old 1960s windows with their hurricane impact windows. But beyond that, they tore out the back wall of the condo, rebuilt the mullet wall and a side wall that took the place of one of the 4 windows in the room. They installed our new door as well and without question, we are going to see this room pay for itself as it blocks the Florida heat perfectly. I have a Stanek Sliding door and they no longer do business in Florida. I contacted Douglas Mfg to see if they could repair the locking device on the door. The parts are hard to find. They agreed to repair the door when another company did not want to deal with the repair. We requested a bid to replace 2 windows in our condo and had to call back 3 times and no one had the information . Finally I got a hold of the president Mark Miller , who did the bid, said he wasn't going to do the job since it's on the 18th floor? I had an emergency problem with one of my patio doors. The glass had slipped out of the frame on one side, and I had taped it to hold in place and keep the wind out as much as possible. I called for help and within a day, they were able to send their workers out who put the glass panel back in the frame. They were fast workers and polite. Well, it was time to bite the bullet and replace our 35-year old metal sliding doors and windows in our Madeira Beach condo. We interviewed 4 contractors - three were selling the same FL-made PGT custom windows & doors. No stars!!! They have no compassion. They broke a piece of metal off my great grandmothers frame and didn't bother to keep or find it. When we called and asked for it and told them we were on our way to get it, they said they'd look for it. When we got there they weren't looking and the big guy working out back started swearing at me while I was crying and looking on the floor so I swore back and was asked by the owner to leave or he would call the police. I just had Douglas Manufacturing in today again and they were great. They came out this am and had not gotten the message I wouldn't be home till late afternoon so they made an adjustment in their schedule and came back at 2:45 pm. They are in demand so it will take about three weeks for them to get out. Their service call is $100 plus parts which is fair. Our sliding glass door was rubbing on the bottom. J.R., Rodney's son another great employee & Mark Miller, the owners son & the owner is amazing too were very knowledgeable and knew exactly what they were doing. They diagnosed the problem immediately. They put a new SS wheel on the one side of the sliding glass door. They were professional, had nice personalities and were polite as they took their shoes off on our white floors with no problem. I have been dealing with this company for over three (3) years and they are wonderful. The owners & employees goes above & beyond for you. We have 3 sliding glass door units in our home.
