Bottom line: 50 minutes late first appointment. No doc, no nurse, no apology. but we stayed. 30 minutes late second appointment. No doc, no nurse, no apology. This time we walked out. I grant you one star, for good magazines in your waiting room--your saving grace, since waiting is basically what we did.
The Details:
My husband (and I) made two visits to this office. The first one, we were 20 minutes early for our appt. Surprisingly, we were escorted to an exam room within 10 minutes of sign in...and we were pretty darn impressed.
("Wow, they've got their smoozle together!")
We sat in said exam room, waited and expected the doc/someone to show up within 10 minutes. Tick, tick, tick....and we now figured, well, if we can't be done early, on-time is ok.
("Well, it was a good start anyway! On-time is alright by us. No one promised a miracle!")
Ten minutes go by. Another 20 minutes go by. By now the doc is 20 minutes late. Doc wizzes by "I'll be with you in a minute". Um. ok.
("Ok, maybe this is just a bad morning. Invoke OM, namaste.")
30 minutes, 40 minutes. No doc. No nurse. No apology. No consideration that maybe the two professionals in the exam room #2 may actually have to go back to work in order to earn the money that is going to pay for this appointment. We talk to the staff. "He is very busy this morning."
("Ok, but are we at the airport? You know, overbooking is equally annoying there, too!!!!!!")
Doc finally shows up. No apology or acknowledgement of the delay. Business as usual. He does his thing. We leave. ("A little arrogant, but we will give him one more chance.")
Hubby goes back for a follow-up appointment this morning. Waited 30 minutes, asks staff why the delay. No response, no apology, no acknowledgement that his time is important. And this time, no early whisking away to an exam room. No Doc. No nurse.
(Hubby calls me, "I've been waiting 30 minutes. I'm leaving.")
Dr. Shin, Staff, you have some serious time management issues going on. We weren't the only ones left waiting. Your UVa "charm" will not help you when you can't even apologize for the mismanagment. (I know that "charm", I'm an alum, too.). I grant you one star, for good magazines in your waiting room.
