Very disappointed with my husband's car at this practice with Dr. Petit. Extremely poor side bedside manner no communication and would get upset when I asked questions about Care. Given not clear answers being brushed off, asked this numerous times on a few appointments when he had a certain procedure done from another office, which makes me feel like he never reviewed my husband's medical records prior to coming there. He does not like to be asked questions and he makes that clear in his demeanor left on both occasions feeling very uneasy will be changing care. read more

Spent 2 weeks waiting for a plan to help with kidney stone pain-(horrible pain btw) xray shows 8 stones- they had me see the nurse who decided the solution was to do absolutely nothing for me! Ok I am lying on the floor at work- can't sit normally at my desk from the pain. Her claim is yes there are 8 stones and yes you are in a lot of pain but the xray doesn't have the stones in a place we worry about - maybe see a different doctor! Ok two weeks waiting and now get to start over with another doctor!? Do nothing is the solution? No longer a good location to go to - never ever have I been treated this way! Went in for rectal/penis pain. They did a urine exam and it was negative. They gave a prescription for Amoxicillin. That was no help so the gave me a prescription for Doxycycine. That was no help either and they had no idea what was/is causing the problem. I talked to 2 nurse practitioners but never saw the doctor, Dr. Pettit. My regular doctor suggested that I get a urine culture so I requested that. They said they would put in the request right away but after a week, the lab had not received it. Also, they told me to get a blood draw for a PSA test, they FAILED to do that also. So I asked for the tests to be sent to the lab again but when I got there today, it was not in their system. (lab tech said they drop the ball often). It has now been 6 weeks since this started and all the pain is still there. I am cancelling future appointments scheduled and NEVER going back to that office. They are just too incompetent. What a waste of my time and money. Go the any other office in the area. read more

I abandoned Dr. Pettit after my third visit. He had very bad bedside manners, seem rushed and superficial, and didn't even do a prostrate exam on two of my three yearly appointments. What kind of urologist doesn't do a prostrate exam? read more

I visited this doctor on two occasions. The first visit didn't go very well but I decided to give the doctor the benefit of the doubt. I went in for Epididymitis and low testosterone that was diagnosed by my family doctor who referred me to the only urologist in Bellingham at the time. These conditions came up within 6 months of my vasectomy and this visit was about 12 months after vasectomy (don't do it!). During the exam on the first visit I had several questions concerning my vasectomy but the doctor was rude and unhelpful. I had been doing a lot of research (about 200 hours) on post vasectomy pain and the doctor rudely rejected any of my questions even though the points I brought up were suggested by prominent universities and several proven extensive case studies. The doctor prescribed some anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. My swelling decreased slightly while taking the medication but the problem never subsided. I rescheduled another appointment with the doctor because the swelling and pain never went away and I wanted to talk about testosterone replacement therapy because after my vasectomy my T level dropped from around 900 to 280 (where it remained until T therapy). When I asked the doctor about testosterone therapy he said that he didn't think it was a real treatment. He stated that "the jury is still out on the viability of such treatments". I rephrased my question thinking I said something wrong and the doctor snapped at me and said something like there's nothing I can do for you. I was shocked. When I first visited I was told by the front desk that they accepted my insurance. Later I was billed for the full amount of both visits because they didn't accept my insurance. Over time I talked with many people who experienced the same bad experiences and found several other bad reports on the internet. I visited another urologist who gladly helped me, answered all my questions and put me on testosterone therapy. Within hours of my first injection I began to come out of what I would describe as "a fog". My alertness came back along with energy and better sexual function. I have seen several doctors and specialists over the years. I am rather used to being poked and prodded down there. I have never felt so disregarded as a person and man-handled as I did by this doctor. Went home feeling violated. Not recommended! Find another specialist. read more

Dr. John Pettit, MD, is one of the kindest, most compassionate, patient doctors I have seen. He is sensitive to your particular needs, mine having to do with a severe bladder prolapse. He offered me my many options and helped me to see there were more procedures to choose from when I felt I needed another opinion after being at the UofW Urogynocology clinic. He took the time I needed to understand things, as I have a brain injury and am slow to take in new information. He also reviewed my past visits and tests with other doctors thoroughly before coming into our appt:. so I felt like I was important to him when he saw me on our very first appt. Besides that, the rest of the staff were courteous, helpful, and attentive from the front desk, to the nurse, to rescheduling afterwards. I highly recommend him for any needs one may have for a Urology Specialist. He definitely knows his stuff and is also straight to the point, so you aren't left wondering what he meant afterwards; as I have often felt confused after a doctor's appt. read more

I'm sure he's capable but his bedside manner was extremely rude, brash, and dismissive. When I asked a question he literally waved me off and said "my nurse will answer your questions". Wow. I complained to another employee and was told that I wasn't the first to express those sentiments. "He's getting ready to retire" was her excuse, as if burnout was a valid excuse for despicable behavior. Hope he retires soon. Good riddance! read more
