I was told yes each time. Fast forward a year later -- I suddenly receive a bill for the consultation. When I called to ask why I was being charged after being assured it was covered, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. She simply said, "Insurance didn't cover it. You have a balance. You can pay it or not." There was no explanation, no apology, and absolutely no transparency. When I asked to speak with someone else for clarification, she said her manager would call me back and then hung up on me -- which has never happened to me before in a medical setting. Being hung up on by a healthcare provider's office is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Overall, this office was not transparent, not patient-focused, and showed very poor customer service. I would not recommend Diablo Periodontics to anyone looking for clear communication, honesty, and respect.

In the meantime hygenist Sally has been doing an incredible job , as always, keeping my teeth clean and in good shape while watching out for any problems, EG no more fives and sixes , If you get back drift, and very few cavities for someone who is prone to them. I have very high anxiety when it comes to any dental procedure, and I also have extremely sensitive gums and an overall low pain tolerance. Despite that, I continue to come back because I always feel treated with kindness and patience. Dr. Tsai performed gum surgery for me, and I truly believe it made a significant improvement in my gum health and appearance. I also go in for regular deep cleanings, which are never easy for me, but the staff is always understanding, especially when I flinch or tear up from the discomfort. The only thing I'd hope to see improved is the way my sensitivity is addressed during treatment--I understand it's unusual to be this sensitive, but frequent comments about it can sometimes make me feel more self-conscious. That said, I know they mean well and are doing their best to keep me calm. Overall, I trust Dr. Tsai with my periodontal care and am thankful to have a provider who understands how stressful dental work can be for someone like me. Highly recommend to anyone, especially those who need a compassionate touch.

Everybody in the office always remembers the last conversations we had even though I only visit two times per year. They have incredible memory and are very personable. My mom was worried and uneasy about the situation but she was telling me how great the team is and how easy it was after her visit.

There isn't a lot that I can say about my procedures other than they couldn't have gone any better. After both, Dr. Choi called me from his home on the evenings of the procedures to make sure everything was OK. He also offered his home phone in case I needed something. I've had something called Tori under my gums. They're small bony growths. I think it's pretty common, but I had one that was sharp and was starting to cause problems. I received a quote at one point for about $5,000 to remove two spots. I really only needed the one removed as the other wasn't a problem at all. During my graft procedure, Dr. Choi removed the troublesome spot and refused to accept any sort of compensation. Not only was this incredibly kind of him, but it helped me avoid future expense, pain and recovery. While it may not seem like a big deal, it was. By doing this for me, Dr. Choi puts himself on the hook for any liability or complications resulting from that work. That's a pretty big deal and I'm grateful to have met this man and to have had him do my work.

Marie, the receptionist, was able to make an appointment the following week. Thank you for the great customer service for a semi-emergency visit. I knew the tooth needed to be extracted. At my appointment, Dr. Lacrampe examined the back tooth and agreed it needed to be removed. Apparently, I had a big abscess, and my tooth was still loose. He and his SUPER-STAR assistant, Tracy, were able to help calm my anxiety. I hate getting shots. Tracy held my hand to comfort me. Both DR. And Tracy distracted me by talking about life while the procedure was being done. P.S. I'm not sure why recently a few YELPERS gave Dr. Lacrample's office low reviews. The price varies greatly ($3000 - $9000) for the same service . After I eliminated four providers from my basic research we visited the other five in person and met with the doctors. We chose Dr. Martin because he seemed to be the most knowledgeable and professional and his price is somewhere in the middle. It also helps that Dr. Martin and his staff are very nice and caring. It's almost three weeks after the surgery now and everything is great. P.S. Most of the general dentists charge higher fees than periodontists for the LANAP gum surgery (same amount of time, same machine, same procedure) and I don't understand why. Maybe they get less usage on the machine so they need to recoup more machine cost from each patient?? Anyway I'd rather use a periodontist for the gum surgery especially since their prices are even a little lower.

At the initial visit, I was nervous. Dr. Martin is very calm, methodical, professional and kind. He listens and explains. He gave me the prescriptions that I needed for the procedure which were printed out, making it easy for the pharmacist to read. I had my wife drive me as one of the prescriptions was like a Valium which calmed my nerves and of course something like lidocaine to numb the area during the procedure. The procedure took about 45 minutes and I sensed that Dr. Martin and his support staff knew exactly what they were doing. I had no pain during or after the procedure and hardly any swelling. They also gave me nitrous and I could have them increase or decrease the flow by a hand signal. Actually, it was easier than having a tooth drilled for a cavity. That next day, Dr. Martin phoned me to see how I was feeling. I was surprised to receive a call, as no doctor has ever done that before! Dr. Martin also gave me his cell phone number is case of an emergency. I will definitely go back if I ever need dental surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Martin. Susan at the front office is delightful and helpful. I was nervous for my deep cleaning today because of years of previous hygienist..... painful and a bit scary!!! Today I met Gorett, my hygienist, and she was a breath of fresh air! She talked with me regarding all my previous procedures over the years at another DDS office and we actually talked, one on one as she reviewed my X-rays and read through Dr. Yee's notes attentively.
