Painless root canal! Even with an extraction! I hope he's still around! I would come back!

I just returned from Dr Fox handling my Root Canal that I desperately needed. I cannot say enough about him. I had been putting this off for 3 weeks, I was so nervous. A former patient of his recommended him. I called this morning and he got me in right away. Dr Fox is loud, aggressive, and offensive, and it permeates the environment. We were looking for a calm, stress-free office for a stressful dental procedure, but found the opposite--Dr. Fox is a screamer. He yells at the staff, he yells at his patients--he's loud and intimidating, almost a bully. We didn't feel that we could ask questions without being yelled at. Even when he's not actively yelling, he's just LOUD. The dental equipment felt a bit out of date but the biggest problem was that I practically had a panic attack from the offensive office environment. There are plenty of generally qualified endodontists around, so we're not going back. Skip this guy. read more

Painless, Quick and Caring Root Canal procedure. I've had two root canal procedures done here. For the second one, my primary dentist referred me to a different endodontist. I told him that I preferred to go back to Dr. Fox. Dr. Fox starts with explaining the entire process to remove any anxiety of the unknown. He, and his staff, then work quickly and painlessly to complete the procedure. And follow-up with clear oral and written instructions for post-procedure care. As a result, I have no fear of any future root canal procedures, should they be necessary. I question whether the negative reviews are from people that have actually seen Dr. Fox. read more

Had a root canal - Dr Fox was very clear of what was being done each step of the way. It was also painless. He is very experienced. Ive read some reviews about him being loud. Just like everyone else i have to agree that this dr is very rude and yells at his patients. I have issues with his root canal (which he did 3 years ago) and called him to follow up only to get yelled at.... no thanks i will go somewhere else. Also after root canal i had jaw pain for a month it was so extreme that i couldnt even open my mouth- and dr. fox told me its normal. He also bargains on a price - if you cant pay $1000 he will do it for $800 but now i would rather pay double and get a decent edodontist. Please avoid and take your $$$ somewhere else. read more

I had my second root canal done by doctor Fox today. It went very well. He's very good at explaining what he's doing and makes you feel super comfortable. His assistant Gale is also very good! Not sure I understand the negative reviews. He could have been more friendly and explained everything he was doing. This was my first root canal so I was not excited about it. I have had zero issues so far and luckily no pain the next day. The insurance part was straight forward he never talked to me about it, I worked with the office manager who answered all my questions. Saw the insurance for today and it was exactly what they said it would be. Would recommend him. read more

Absolutely phenomenal experience with Dr. Fox! He was friendly, respectful, and calm. He made things very easy and relaxing for me and I am by no means an easy patient. Do not go to this dentist no matter what!! He is rude, degrading, disrespectful, and a scam artist.. He yells at patients and basically says it is their responsibility to find out how much they have to pay when they come in and then he thinks of a price while you're in the chair to charge you before you leave. He says that he is doing a favor to the patient by being in network with their insurance. He overcharges the patient and then when the insurance processes and the patient paid too much he will re submit to the insurance again and up charge to try to make sure he doesn't have to pay the patient any money back. Called Dr. Fox for an emergency root canal on Saturday 12/1/18 and he was able to see me 2 hours later. So great because my pain level was an 8+. He did the pain free root canal in 90 minutes. He even made a follow up call to me the next day, Sunday, to check in. I'm highly recommending him. I read some other reviews commenting on his chair-side manor with staff and patients. Yes, he is particular with staff but I feel that's because he's high-functioning and knows exactly what he's wants at that moment. He was very respectful to me (both times) and explained every single step in great detail. As a patient, I think that's a good thing. His practice and service are great. For example, I called them 6 days after this procedure and asked to switch my payment from the credit card I gave them to my HSA card. No problem there either. Going further, he did a root canal on me back in 2013 and that one has been fine ever since. And finally, the charged amount was perfectly fair. I will definitely go back if I ever need another root canal...just hoping that never happens again! read more

I just had my third root canal done by Dr. Fox first one in 2005, and just like the others I never felt any pain, he explains everything as he is going along to let you know where you are in the procedure, which also makes the time go by faster. My husband went to Dr. Fox on a recommendation, and we are very sorry he went. The staff did not tell us that it was going to cost $1400 and that we needed to give them $800 upfront (we have dental insurance). How did my husband find out about it - during the middle of the root canal the office girl came in and stopped the appointment and told him he could come back another time when he couldn pay the full amount. Have you ever heard of such a thing - no payment plan offered - no give us this much and we will invoice you just "now that I have started I should tell you I expect payment in full before you leave". It would have been nice to know about the lack of ethics prior to drilling into my husbands tooth. It feels like we were extorted out of a huge sum of money. I never had a root canal and was kind of nervous. Dr. Fox was absolutely fabulous. I was experiencing a lot of nerve pain and he was able to see me immediately. He took the time to explain the procedure before and during. Answered all my questions and was very focused and professional through the entire process. I felt no pain at any point and best of all there was no infection days after the procedure. He identified the issue and took care of it. Once the Novocain wore off, my nerve pain was gone. I have to say that he knows what he's doing and I would refer him to my own family. read more

Called Dr. FOX Thursday Oct 11, 2017 because I was in a lot of pain, he scheduled me for Friday Oct 13, 2017. The staff was really nice and answered all my question without hesitation. I would highly recommend Dr. FOX, he's very knowledgeable about what he does and seems to enjoy helping his patients especially in emergency situations. He walks you through every step of the way so you'll be comfortable and at ease while he work on you. Other then the 1st shot, I promise you won't feel a thing and you'll be so happy you went. I have had 3 out of 3 root canals FAIL by Dr. Fox. Do not go here. Waste of money and time and pain.

Dr Fox's work is fair (several root canals done on my family failed). The real problem is his billing practices that verge on being a scam. In every case, while the procedure was being done, we were told that the receptionist would verify the amount that the insurance covered. Afterwards we were given amounts that seemed very high considering the coverage we had, but obviously paid the requested amount. Each time when the claim was processed we owed much less that told we would, and had to contact Dr Fox's office repeatedly for a refund. Seriously, watch your claims!!! read more

My first visit was early in June. It was painless and easy. I recently scheduled a second appointment. An hour before the appointment my insurance company finally contacted me back and let me know that I was past my max. I had to contact Dr. Fox's office. I was embarrassed and felt badly. They were great about it and did not make me feel any worse. I rescheduled and will be there after the first of the year. True professionalism. read more

Hubby had to have his first root canal and Dr. John Fox was recommended by our family dentist for the procedure. He did a really great job explaining the process during each step. No pain at all during or after the root canal. Dr. Fox even called the next day just to make sure every thing was fine. Wow! we will definitely use him again. read more

Not only was the entire staff great, but Dr. Fox took the time to get me in for an emergency appointment quickly without charging extra. He took the time to explain what he was doing and what to do after the appointment to make sure things healed properly. He called many times during the next few days checking on me. I had to reschedule, unfortunately, a few times due to work issues for the follow-up appointment. He and his staff were understanding and followed up to be sure I rescheduled. GROSS!!! *** Very BAD doctor! *** Did a horrible job, I had a swelling afterwards. He told me to poke my gum with the scissors (YES) to let the pus out. He did not inspect whether my tooth was cracked before redoing the root canal. Charged enormously for the BAD job. I am loosing my tooth and the entire bridge has to go! Due to a cracked molar my 15 y.o. needed a root canal procedure and after exploring many options, we decided on using Dr. Fox. I was very impressed with his work. I could hear him talking to her throughout the procedure and he explained everything clearly and made the experience much better than we thought a root canal would be. He has careful to take his time with the numbing shots and the whole thing was relatively pain free for her. We were paying out of pocket, and the other endodontist offices I called wanted us to come for an initial consult appointment at $270- $400 and then quoted another $1400 or so to do the procedure. Dr. Fox spoke with me on the phone himself, asked some detailed questions about the situation, and was able to give me a very reasonable price for the procedure (I saved many hundreds of dollars seeing him vs. the other practices I called) and we only had to go in once. The whole visit took about an hour and a half and I was very happy with the whole experience. read more

My fiancé was in extreme pain-- needing what we thought was going to be a root canal. The consultation was extremely painful, and I thought he was unnecessarily rough, he didn't listen to what we were saying, and frankly, rude. I was in need of a root canal retreatment. I am not a good dental patient as I have flashbacks to a horrible experience when getting my wisdom teeth removed. I called several endodontists. Not only was his office staff the nicest, but Dr. Fox himself called me back and asked me what my concerns were. He offered me a free consultation so I could meet him and said he would explain the procedure. I got there and was welcomed by a very warm and friendly staff. He performed 3 tests on me to see how much work I would need--this was all free. I left there feeling much more at ease. He even recommended a dental plan that would save us money--and it did!!!! I had the procedure done on Tuesday and he was amazing. Knowing I was uptight, he gave me constant positive reinforcement by talking to me and explaining what he was doing and thanking me for cooperating. He also complimented his dental assistant constantly. The atmosphere was so very positive. He is a wonderful person and endodontist. Before I knew it the procedure was over. It was painless and thorough. I would highly recommend Dr. Fox to anyone needing a root canal and would do so because of his expertise, kind manner and even his very fair price. read more

I needed an emergency root canal the day after Thanksgiving. The endodontist that my dentist had originally referred was not checking his voice mail and I HAD to have something done as I was in intense pain. I started calling through the list of endodontists I found covered by my insurance. I probably made 15 calls. Dr Fox's office was open and got me in immediately! He was incredibly professional and explained everything that he was doing. He made me feel very at ease. He called me the next day to make sure everything was going well and took time to answer lots of questions. I would definitely go back to him again if I ever need another root canal (but hopefully I won't!). read more

Dr. Fox is a very professional endodontist. I have had work done in the past and he has always been available, conisiderate, and professional. I think his staff is very polite and nice. I recently visited Dr. Fox to get a second opinion. His front desk staff was pleasant but I cannot say the same about Dr. Fox. He was SO rude and degrading to his staff in front of his patients which made me feel so uncomfortable. I could not believe how unprofessional he was. Not a great way to represent your business and potential work you will be conducting on your patients. He was yelling at his staff, talking over them, interrupting them, and simply making them sound "stupid" or "uneducated". I really was in shock how awful he was towards them. The last thing a patient wants to feel is tense, anxious and uncomfortable when going into a doctors office. Once I was one on one with Dr. Fox he also interrupted me and spoke to me like a child. Every opportunity he had he tried correcting me. He wasn't listening to my report on the tooth issue and instead continued to talk over me. This experience made me feel this guy just likes the sound of his own voice and puts down people to feel better about himself. I do not recommend Dr. Fox. Do your research and read reviews people! After pain increased in an upper back molar where my dentist had recently applied a crown (and did say that he was not sure the new crown would work without a root canal), he immediately recommended Dr. Fox to do a root canal. First time for me. I called in the morning, and by 2PM I was in for a root canal. Boy, was I happy that they could do it same day. Dr. Fox's front office staff was very professional. Dr. Fox and his team worked quickly to do the root canal, and everything was well explained. Very pleased with the result. I also listened in on conversation with another patient while my procedure had down time. That patient was trying to decide whether or not to pull a tooth or have it saved. It seemed to me Dr. Fox provided good advice to that patient. I disagree with other reviews that characterized Dr. Fox as a hack - he was very professional treating me. I also got a follow-up call next day to check on how things were doing, which I also appreciated. Post procedure treatment was also well explained - hot towel treatment for one hour a day (10 ten/ten off) for 7 days really does make the jaw & mouth feel better. read more
