I've had the same health insurance for over 3 years. I attempted to call the insurance company but unfortunately they aren't open on the weekends. I was unable to access the app or website, as it was down for maintenance. From what I gathered when they tried to run my insurance, it would not process. I showed them the app was down, as well as, the website so this is clearly why it's not processing. Mind you, this isn't my first time to see this doctor and all previous times there were no issues with my insurance. After I waited for 40 minutes the receptionist informs me that the doctor won't see me because of the insurance issue. I was at a loss for words, as she explained I could call on Monday and they could try again and get me in on Tuesday. Absolutely not, I will find a new provider who doesn't turn patients away because their insurance company decides to do maintenance on their sites on a Saturday.

A Lifesaving Experience for My Son's Broken Arm - Exceptional Pediatric ER & Ortho Team!…read more After a terrible experience at another hospital (Cohen LIJ), where the ER team failed us and no one followed up, we were referred to Nassau University Medical Center by our orthopedic specialist. From the moment we arrived, the care was "night-and-day different". Pediatric ER: The wait time was shockingly short, and the team was incredibly kind. My son, Tristan, was seen immediately, and 4-5 different nurses checked on him regularly, making sure he was comfortable. A compassionate Haitian doctor (I wish I got his name!) was thorough and reassuring. Emergency Surgery: We were admitted for an urgent wrist surgery due to a broken bone. The resident orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Omar Saleem (Precision Orthopedics - 161 Willis Ave Mineola), was outstanding. He took the time to explain the procedure in detail, answered all our questions with patience, and treated Tristan with so much empathy. The surgery went smoothly, and I felt confident in his expertise. Post-Op & Discharge: After a 3-hour wait (expected for emergency cases), RN Jin Young Lee handled our discharge with exceptional care. She reviewed all instructions clearly, ensured we understood follow-up care, and was genuinely kind. Hospital Environment: Yes, the building is older, but it's well-kept, clean, and organized. Even the restrooms were neat--something I don't take for granted in busy hospitals! I'm truly saddened by the negative reviews because our experience was flawless in a high-stress situation. If you need emergency care (especially pediatric) or a skilled orthopedic specialist, I highly recommend NUMC--and ask for Dr. Omar Saleem if you need bone-related care. Thank you, NUMC team, for restoring our faith in medical care!

Sick and tired of billing issues, charging twice or bill the insurance wrong then have to re-bill…read moreso 5 minute visit with the child turns into weeks of headaches dealing with that because the right hand doesn't know what the left one does! I physically went to the location with the bill question and got no answers and the manager didn't call me as I was told she was. Also, good luck reaching them over the phone! It is impossible! Even when they do tests and tell us we will call back with the results they never do! Once again, every single time I have to go there in person to ask for it! Some doctors are awful as well, telling me mu child needs cough meds and I should take one over the counter, after I told her we already went through this and no one of the over the counter help, she sent the referral for meds to the pharmacy and guess what she prescribed, right, the meds over the counter already told her didn't work. We had to go back next day and pay for the visit again! As I said, sick and tired. Time to look for better location.

IF I could give this place zero starts I would. II am extremely disappointed with the experience…read moremy parent had at Fulton Commons. From the moment we arrived, the condition of the room was alarming. The bedside nighttable had a white film on it that looked like dried milk. I ended up cleaning it myself with hand sanitizer and paper towels because I didn't want to place any personal items on a surface that looked so disgusting. The wall beside the bed was filthy, covered in dried blood and other stains (see attached picture). The staff was another major issue. The workers at the front desk were rude and acted like you were bothering them whenever you asked a question. If they even bothered to answer, it was with an attitude. On the positive side, the nurses, physical / speech and recreational therapists were nice and professional, but unfortunately, they were the exception. The private aid we hired to sit with my parent had her own disturbing observations. She said when she requested a diaper change for my parent, she was met with an attitude and the diaper wasn't changed for a shocking 7 hours--from 11 am to 6 pm. This is totally unacceptable, especially for someone who needs consistent care. After seeing all of this, it's hard not to conclude that this is a Medicare-draining facility more focused on cutting costs to maximize profit than providing decent care. A Cash Cow for the owners. If patients ask to be taken to the bathroom, they're told to just relieve themselves in their diapers. This is not only disrespectful but also likely contributes to unnecessary health problems like UTIs. If I had known how poorly run and filthy this place was, I would have never considered placing a loved one here. It's clear they're more interested in lining their pockets than actually providing quality care. I deeply regret this decision and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. Would not recommend.

Also,…read morethis location is in a good school district and feels well-maintained, safe, and well-resourced. The facility is bright, clean and modern. The staff members are welcoming and friendly. The care team here is patient, kind, reliable, caring and understanding. The doctors accommodate my special needs by extending my appointment times to 30 minutes when needed. One experience especially stood out to me. I passed out at the reception area, and another patient immediately called for help. The nurse and nurse practitioner immediately came out, helped me onto an exam table, and stayed with me until I fully regained consciousness. They showed genuine concern for patients safety and well-being, and the nurse practitioner even escorted me out to the parking lot afterward. That level of compassion and attentiveness meant a lot to me. I have had very different experiences in the past at Charles B Wang Community Health Center, an Asian clinic, and that's one of the reasons I decided to move my care to NYU Langone. Here I feel safe, respected, supported and taken seriously as a patient. About 90% of the patients here are White, 2% Asian, 5% Hispanic, and 3% African American. Around 70% were born in the USA and came to the U.S. before age 12, 80% came from highly educated families, and 70% are financially well off. I am pleased with the quality of care here and feel comfortable coming here. Even though I am always the only Asian person here, I felt welcomed, safe, respected, and supported, especially as a person with a disability in that environment. As a person with a degree who values quality Healthcare, I highly recommend this NYU Langone facility.
