Optometrist dept was horrible! Walked in to look at frames. Had a prescription for my daughter from another office. The lady at the desk said it was by only appt STILL. I asked if they had any appt today since my daughter leaves for college tomorrow. She didn't. I decided to look at frames and then come back with an appt to order the ones my daughter liked. She said I couldn't look at the frames. The office is too busy for me to look! Seriously! I wasn't asking her any questions. Just looking at the frames. That wasn't allowed because I didn't have an appt. I've had my regular visits with Dr Zdral and I've been very happy. Not happy with the process of ordering glasses! read more

I visited Dr. Zdral for blurred vision in my left Eye and some discomfort I was experiencing. He seemed professional, however I soon would find out otherwise. After what I thought would be a comprehensive and thorough eye exam, Dr Zhral told me he didn't see anything that would warrant a visit to a specialist for further treatment. Not convinced by his diagnosis, I went for a second opinion and was glad that I did. The second Doctor informed me i in fact did have a very serious problem and instructed me to follow up with a retinal surgeon immediately. At a follow up visit that I had previously scheduled with Dr. Zdral and armed with the findings from the second doctor, I gave Dr. Zdral every opportunity to correctly diagnose the problem. When I asked him about a test he had performed on my first visit, and showed him a Picture on my iPhone I had taken of a test result that he performed at my first visit, he couldn't find my file. I watched his computer screen as he scrolled through his client files and couldn't find my chart or the results I was asking about. He said "it must be here somewhere". When I mentioned I had received a second opinion that was different from his, he became visually shaken! He then looked at the eye a third time and said "Oh, there it is yes, you need to see a retinal surgeon immediately"! At the Jules Stein Institute at UCLA, I was diagnosed for a blood clot in my eye which was placing pressure on my retinal nerve. The attending surgeon told me the condition was very serious and would have led to maculate degeneration and blindness in the eye if left untreated. Dr. Zdral's treatment or lack of treatment is completely alarming that he would place an individual's health and grave risk. I'm still considering my legal options and have plenty of time within the statue of limitations to take action if I deem necessary once my treatment is completed. read more

Dr. Zdral might be a good doctor although he does not voluntarily provide information unless you specifically ask, some of their front desk people are very rude. I showed up for my appointment today and was told very rudely that there will be a long wait. I ask how long, an hour? two hours? she again responded unapologetically ' I don't know how long. Just long. Am I checking you in or rescheduling?'. I canceled the appointment and walked out. I should have gotten her name. I will not go back! I have heard complaints before about their customer service and now I know why. Now I need to find another cataract surgeon. read more

I have spent 6 hours in office for 2 visits. If you are young and have stuff to do, don't go here. The doctors are extremely good and competent! However, I spent 10 - 15 minutes with the Doctor out of the six hour at his office. It may be a step up from the VA medicine( he worked in VA before) however not much of one. The modern machines and technicians do most of the work. I quickly learn long answers are not wanted. large staff constantly shuffle patients from machines to rooms then back to waiting room. Every time I go in for follow up or check up Dr. says "your eyes are doing good", cuts short any question I have, just agrees with what I mention might help my discomfort, and doesn't explain what the problem of discomfort might be, or else hands you a pamphlet with a prescription I didn't even fill since it didn't even match my symptoms. Then he walks you to the receptionist to schedule another appointment. All of the office including the staff, and their optometrist just want you in and out. read more

The office staff is good, the med assistants are generally professional and somewhat personable. I have gone to Dr Zdral for several years. The things that irritate me the most is waiting for him to show up for my appointment. After the assistant has given me the vision tests, I have been asked to wait in the waiting area or in the exam room. When the doctor does appear, he spends more time looking at the computer screen than he does at me. The final straw was my last appointment. I had already been there close 1-1/2 hours. In a nutshell, he came in, looked the screen. Said everything looks fine. Follow me. He led me out to the appointment desk. What? No mention of the letter from my optometrist about a concern she had. Three minutes after waiting an hour and a half. No thank you. I left without making an appointment and, when a friendly woman called to schedule it, I declined with the same explanation above. I am a person who is a self-described knowledge junkie. When it comes to my health, I want a doctor to be able to explain things to me not get irritated that I ask questions or worse still, hurry me on my way. I'm done with this doctor. read more

I unfortunately experienced a cataract condition that appeared very quickly. I had visited Dr. Zdral for a check up years earlier with good results so this was a big surprise. After a couple of pre op appointments and lots of eye drops the surgery was very quick and painless. My new vision is not only amazing but I noticed my untreated eye sees the world bathed in a yellow tinge - now when I look thru my new eye I see pure white where it is supposed to be. I never thought that was happening! Yes Dr. Zdral has few precious moments with you in the exam room but the testing is very thorough and modern. Staff is great as well. read more

I was referred to this office by my PC, due to pain and macular bleeding in one eye. They can see me in 10 weeks. What?????? Do you need new management? Do you need to stop accepting new patients? This is what it is like with socialized medicine! UNACCEPABLE. read more

I had cataract surgery in both eyes a few weeks apart 14 months ago. Surgery went without any pain or discomfort, night vision was improved. HOWEVER, my vision is worse than before the surgery in both eyes. A month after surgery, I drove back to the East Coast and developed debilitating temporary double vision requiring that I stop driving. I called the office, Doctor did not come on the phone but a tech told me "try artificial tears." That did not help, but vision did recover overnight, and then returned on successive driving days. When I got back, I saw Dr. Zdral, who had no explanation for the double vision issue or the decreased vision in my right eye. In the left eye, he blamed it on unpredictable results after my AK surgery some 20 years ago. I have been back several times without any resolution. (He did say "We could TRY a YAG laser on the right eye," but that did not inspire any confidence whatsoever.) He gave me a prescription for glasses that did nothing to improve my vision. Dr. Zdral is a superb surgeon. He is probably the best in the area for cataract surgery. His office has the latest equipment, and his staff is very professional. Since he does a large number of surgeries his office can be very busy at times, so be prepared to wait. Compared to other doctors you may find him quiet and reserved, but don't let that put you off. Personality is an absolute zero, but his work is an absolute 10. Office staff is kind and friendly and a clean environment. They appear organized and the office is extremely busy, sometimes it's difficult to get an appointment when you would like. But the doctor is very skilled! read more

I've visited Dr. Zdral every year for at least the last 5 years. He's very thorough. He doesn't do glasses though, you have to make a separate appt. with his partner. The only reason I don't give him 5 stars, is that he's not very talkative. This makes him not seem friendly. I dread going to visit him every year because I always feel like he's grumpy. read more

The doctors are skilled and professional but the staff is the worst I have ever encountered in the medical field. The ladies in the glasses and contact department are negative and not willing to do their jobs. I never order glasses in there and forget the contact assistants. They are so impatient I pity a new person trying to get contacts. The office ladies are equally disgusting. I have not met a friendly or caring one yet and we have seen this doctor for over 10 years. I don't know why they don't train them to be more respectful to a patients feelings. read more
