I used to live in El Dorado, so I've been here several times. I visited today and felt the need to write a review. The food is always good. Today was no exception. That's just always been consistent. (except once when I had crawfish there a few years ago.... they weren't great. Dirty and not seasoned well, but I'm not even sure they do those anymore. I just wanted to throw that in for anyone who may be in the fence about where to get crawfish in El Dorado. I suggest The Chop'n Block.) Anyway I was saying...the food was good. My daughter and I both had breakfast and everything was cooked perfectly with the exception of my overly greasy hash browns. Coffee was good. Place was clean. The service however, not so impressive. I realize they're under new ownership since the owner passed away, but I thought his daughter owned it and she's actually who waited on us today (or at least I'm almost positive this lady is who used to work there.) Anyway, maybe she was having a bad day, but I just got the feeling she would have rather been anywhere else in the world besides here, having to take our order and having to bring us our food. She sort of rushed us into ordering and then never offered a coffee refill until we were clearly finished with our food and about to leave. I guess there just aren't enough options in this town to feel like you have to earn people's business. read more

I just loved this place. The waitresses were sweet. The were so kind to older couple dining there. And oh the food. Special of the day Cornish hen collard greens cornbread Lima beans cream potatoes. Oh and Sweet tea. This place is the best. Highly recommend. read more

Worth the wait? Food is decent for a diner but the wait almost isn't worth it. We waited in line for about 10 min for a seat then 40 min for our food. An omelet and waffle don't take that long and when they were ready, the wait staff just still stood around talking among themselves letting our food get cold on the shelf. Probably one of the only breakfast places around and the prices are decent, just go knowing you'll have to wait. read more

Had breakfast at Johnny B's this morning and had the Ribeye Steak and Eggs with hash-browns. The atmosphere of this place is incredible and I will recommend this place for breakfast to anyone visiting the El Dorado area. Good stuff. read more

Can't believe this place is still in business. Like Jesus Christ. Sat down with a party of 3 and waited 15 minutes to be waited on. After the 15 minutes passed we finally got our drink order. Another 10 grueling go by and we receive our drinks and order the food. Hopeful that Jonny Bees would get there shit together we waited patiently for an additional 45 minutes. Not to mention we sat on the absolute most uncomfortable chair that even Satan would not punish people with. Food finally arrived and it was average. Not worth the 3 day wait. No refills. Our food also ca.d out at different times for our table. Holy damn. Won't return. FDA needs to shut them down. Check took 5 minutes to get there as well. Rant over. read more

Kinda small, windows a little drafty, but still good food. Generous portions and a friendly staff.

I ordered the Steak salad and the crab cakes appetizer. The steak salad was excellent, wrapped in a hard tortilla shell, however I would've preferred more salad (i.e. lettuce, etc.). The crab cakes were delicious too, however kind of pricey for $10.99 for 5 mini cakes. Overall, great place to eat! read more

Don't know how the food is, never got anything. Ordered breakfast and 45 minutes later we still did not have anything. They were not that busy and other people came in got their food and left. I am new to El Dorado and this place always has cars out front. It is a diner themed restaurant but without the thick milkshakes. It serves breakfast all day. When I entered, no one greeted me. I just stood there for a few minutes. There only were a few tables open so when another group walked in, I grabbed a nearby open table for fear of losing the spot. The place is dusty, even dirty in some areas. Eventually, the server came - either she dislikes her job or herself, not sure which but she was not at all pleasant. I ordered breakfast, specifically pancakes and bacon. I think the server even rolled her eyes at my order? Eventually, my breakfast came. It only was okay. There was something "off" about the pancakes but I could not put my finger on it. The bacon was nice and big, quite delicious. Another plus was the young hostess at the register. She actually smiled and seemed interested in the whole customer service thing. I wish I could have tipped her instead. As it stands, my experience overall was "Meh." I cannot for the life of me understand why this place is so busy, except perhaps the prime location. I will be in El Dorado for a year but do not plan to return to this restaurant. read more

Food was decent, but certainly not worth the wait. We waited an hour and twenty minutes to receive our order. Two tables had been there even longer than us (some with incredibly patient children), never received their food, and walked out. Two people who came in just after us received their food only just before we left - even though the people who had come in 10 minutes before we left received their food within TEN MINUTES! How does it take an hour and a half to cook a chicken sandwich? It's not even remotely understandable (much like why Johnny B's is still in business; not understandable). There is no organization. Call-in orders were going out in a steady stream, while people waiting for their order at tables were sitting and watching. The service staff is very clearly not interested in the service industry (and I am putting it mildly). If you think I'm exaggerating, please, go experience it for yourself. The younger girl seemed happier, but even she, when asked why our order was taking so long, told us we should "Ask the other girl." If we'd known where she was, I'm sure we would have. The diner is dusty/slightly dirty, and the kitchen staff appears overworked.The only way this place has stayed in business is the location. read more
