Delicious empanadas. Favorite ones were the chicken and one of the veggie ones that had cheese in it. We also ordered some of the sweet empanadas. If you order the Nutella one, make sure you are a fan of something super sweet. I liked the banana one the most. The pineapple empanada is made up of a pineapple purée, not whole pieces. The service was fast and friendly. There are a couple of tables to sit indoors, but not a whole lot if it were to get very busy here. This place lives up to their hype! I love it! I got 4 empanadas because I wanted to try as many as possible my first time. I got the chorizo with papa, chicken al pastor, flan empanada, and beef tinga. My favorite were the chorizo and the beef tinga. The chorizo was flavorful and delicious. The beef tinga reminded me of the home made chicken tinga my mom makes. Home made food is hard to find when you eat out so you know it's good! The other empanadas were also pretty. The service here is excellent and quick. I caught a glimpse of the making of the empanadas during my stop. I will definitely come back and I do recommend this place to everyone! read more

Whenever my husband and I go on vacation we are literally running from one place to another and getting in as much as possible so by the time we get to eat, we are always super hungry! Well, we were driving around trying to find something different when I saw Johnny Pacific come up on Yelp. Sold .. mostly because it was within a driveable distance (but it also had really good reviews)! I could tell my husband wasn't particularly enthusiastic with my selection but he pretended to be thrilled about it. So, this small restaurant is a bit hard to find but we were super glad after the fact that we did go looking for it! They have a few tables inside and you order at the counter, nothing fancy but the service was good! One of the employees made a few recommendations of their most popular items. I ordered the 4 empanadas plate with the Roasted Veggie / Spinach & Cheese / Chicken Al Pastor / Nutella Banana. My husband got the Chimi-Churri Skewers which came with steak skewers, french fries, side salad, and an empanada (he chose the Kailua Pig). I actually really liked that each empanada came with a separate sauce which complimented the flavor but I didn't find it to be necessary, just nice to have. Out of my selections of the savory empanadas, I liked the Chicken Al Pastor the best; it was full of flavor & had a bit of spice. I liked the Roasted Veggies empanada also, probably would skip the Spinach & Cheese next time as it wasn't as tasty as I was hoping. The star though was that Nutella Banana empanada, I'm seriously STILL thinking about it! It was warm chocolate-y goodness with the banana, I almost went up & ordered another one. My husband really enjoyed his food as well. The steak skewers were cooked well and came with the tasty chimichurri sauce. He liked the empanada as well, only thing on the plate that was disappointing were the fries as about half of them were at room temperature & the other half were hot and fresh. Overall, a great choice to check out. My husband knows that I typically don't eat all my food but I finished off everything! I had told the waitress that I had never been there before and she was super kind and helpful with helping me pick out 2 flavors, Chicken Al Pastor and Beef Empanada. She explained that each empanada also came with a matching dip. The restaurant is gorgeous on the inside, which was really unexpected, I was only here to pick up, but i would come back and have a meal there. I learned about Johnny Pacific on a Sunday night before they closed and was unable to make it. The following night after a long hike, I went and was not disappointed. Walking in I was greeted politely by the staff, looked over the menu and started my order. To me, ordering the 4 empanadas to try each is the best deal for one person. I ordered the chicken tinga, hialua pig, veggie and beef empanadas (Not all at once). I have to say, I love empanadas and finding a place that serves them in the Valley is difficult, there are only two others I know of, one being email order/curbside in Burbank (No thank you) and another in Canoga Park. Johhny Pacific delivers! These are the best empanadas north of the border - no joke! The presentation, the flavors of each, the sauces, tantalizing to the last bite which leaves you wanting more! I could not say enough how polite the staff was, there are a lot of choices for the fillings for each, and to spice things up the gentleman that works there even threw in a flan empanada for desert!
