Tangy, cheesy, a little salty... mmmm. It just works. Their salads are actually good too, not just there to fill space on the menu. It's pickup only, but it runs smooth and the staff is always nice. I was trying to be healthier and got thin crust pizzas but they were not the way to go- dry and crunchy. The cheeseburger pizza sauce was really Sweet, the pickles on the side made it better but the sweetness was off putting. In the second pizza I got light sauce and light cheese on the thin crust so it was really dry- this was my fault for making these choices. I didn't love these pizzas but I'd give them another try with regular crust etc. The worker was super nice and we chatted for a bit. We finally ordered from here after reading so many good reviews. We tried the Hawaiian pizza. The small square is 6 pieces and we liked it. The crust was nicely carmelized, not burnt. I found it less dense than many deep dish pizza crusts, which is a plus. The chicken Parmesan sandwich was less impressive. While there was a decent amount of grilled chicken, there is too much bread and the sauce was too thin and runny, The order was filled promptly and service was very friendly. The next time we have a yen for pizza, which is pretty rare these days, we will likely return to Johnny Z's. read more

First time ordering from here. As I walked in I was greeted by the owners and daughter. We had some good conversation and some good laughs. After getting home, the pizza was hands down the best I've ever had. Better than any of the big name places around! Fresh mushrooms, pepperoni, ham, pineapple, cheese, bread sticks, antipasto salad was all amazing. I even tried a cherry cola Faygo (not bad). The slogan for Johnny Z's is "One thing Done Well" and I can 100% agree with it. It was a simple order from me and the boy: pizza and bread sticks, bread sticks and pizza. We debated adding chicken wings and a salad but, as my son pointed out, I'm fat enough so we stuck with the classics. I have not passed much onto my son but the two things that he seems to have gotten from me is a love of sports and a love of BLT pizzas because as anyone who reads my review with any regularity knows, I love my BLT pizzas. Located in a tiny little strip mall where Mt. Clemens meets Clinton Township, the pizzeria sits cozy at the end of the plaza. While they do have some seating outdoors this is very much a carry out restaurant. Upon opening up my box of yum, my first impression was this pizza looks small (we ordered a medium). I thought they accidentally gave me a small. Size notwithstanding, the pizza is excellent. The crust is absolutely perfectly cooked, crisp on the outside soft and supple inside. The Mayo is a lovely accent to the pizza, not overwhelming and the lettuce and tomato stayed fresh. I really didn't see the bacon but I could definitely taste it. The bread ticks on the other hand I was less impressed with. They seemed almost undercooked, very chewy. They did provide ranch to dip in, but honestly a little crispier and it would have been great. They had a great ratio of butter and Parmesan on it. Overall I enjoyed the pizza immensely. I would definitely order it again from Johnny Z's. Next time I might go for the wings instead. read more

I don't think I've ever written a review of a take out pizza place but today is the day. I ordered a square with sausage, REAL mushrooms, onions and olives. Super friendly service when I picked it up. The pizza is fabulous! The crust is the perfect texture, not heavy and has that Pizza Hut kind of taste from the seasoned pans. Their ranch is legit as well. I loathe Jets and don't eat a lot of pizza but this place is fantastic and I can't wait to order something else soon. read more

This won't make sense unless you are a textured eater but this place has the BEST texture! We got a large square and dippers. I had the pizza from Johnny Z's for the first time last night after living in Clinton Township/Mount Clemens for almost four years and WOW was I impressed. The crust was thick and chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside. It wasn't soggy at all from the garlic butter. They were generous with the toppings, the olives were a little too salty for my taste but I'll skip those next time. The sauce had really great flavor, and there was just the right amount of cheese. We get pizza from here from time to time. Most times, it's great. Today not so much.... first time using the online ordering.. bad experience, how do you order an xl cheese bread and only get one sauce, but if I order the smaller sizes I get the same 1 sauce??? Could not figure out how to add an additional dipping sauce. Cheese bread was made first, so it was cold before the pizzas came out. Ordered an xl half bacon half bold pepperoni, pepperoni was burnt bacon was just thrown on the pizza. Pickle pizza was good cut just as directed in the instruction. How do you charge extra for crust, such as turbo, or garlic for an extra fee when all the other places around do not have an additional cost.
