I have purchased from this dress shop for the past 3 years for my teenage daughter. (for H.S. dances and for Pageantry)They have the best selection of high quality one of a kind dresses at the most reasonable prices. I have NEVER had a poor experience shopping there. After reading the other review I have to add that it is POSTED in several places in the store and in the dressing rooms that NO PICTURES are to be taken. This applies to everyone.It doesn't matter if you are a teen or an adult or if the store is busy or slow. The first time we visited the store I noticed the sign and inquired about it. We wanted to take pictures to get other opinions too. As it was explained to me, it was because some people do not buy but take pictures and then try to copy the dresses. I was disappointed but understood why the policy had to be enforced. When I shop there, I know the policy and take the person whose opinion that I value with me. Bad customer service the guy who works there is very rude and disrespectful after we told him we didn't want to get a dress he threw the dress on the ground and yelled at us for not purchasing. The dresses are cheaply made and not very good quality for a very high price. The gems were peeling off before my daughter even put the dress on and the fabric was cheap and not only this he was very hostile and disrespectful and threw a fit because my daughter tried on the dresses. I've been in this store a handful of times, even when their old location was in Universal Mall. The owners are consistently rude to all customers. The non-owner employees are very courteous and welcoming. This store has a good selection of dresses, but even the high-end ones are not great quality! They do sell jewelry, boleros, evening bags, and a few special event accessories. Just take a look at my picture of the dressing room "regulations". This is hilarious. I especially love the first one. They are essentially kicking out customers from their dressing rooms. Do they want to make money or not? I remember a few years ago I worked late, came here because I was desperate to buy a dress for a wedding. I went into the fitting room at 8.45 or 8.50p (the mall closes at 9p). They told me I couldn't try on the dress! I threw it in their face if they let me try it on, they will probably make money by me purchasing the dress. Just unbelievable! read more

And we said "well yeah if we fit into something" and he Said no "Lebanese, Assyrian, Chaldean or anyone from the Middle East" has given him business. Worst experience ever, definitely do not recommend at all!! My daughter left in tears. There's a 6 dress minimum that they don't tell you about when you book. If you want to try on anymore they give you a hard time and become bullies!!! Horrible service. Do NOT go here. They only sell one of each dress to each school so nobody has the same dress and i don't see a problem with that. They asked my daughter what school she went to 4 times and she told them those 4 times. So first they put her in dresses that didn't fit right at the back and said that she looked fine because they didn't want to get the one off the mannequin so they put her in a size 0 but she really needed an 8. They tried to convince us so hard saying it's her size but it wasn't and you could tell. Then when i went to pay for the dress she fell in love with they asked her school AGAIN and then said that I couldn't buy it for her because someone from her school has already got it the day prior, and the owner was nowhere to be found at that point. They SHOULDNT HAVE LET HER TRY IT ON IN THE FIRST PLACE. don't worry tho we google reversed imaged a picture and got the exact dress from another store in New York for cheaper. read more

Yesterday was my second time going there and I wish I would have found this place before my senior year. me and my aunt have bought two dresses here and to say we are satisfied we is an understatement. Johnny and his Crew do a fantastic job at making sure you do a fantastic job that are the style color and budget you are looking for. If a dress is not fitting you quite right they'll pin your dress to make you get a genuine feel for the dress that you have on. they have an amazing lady who does alterations who comes in the shop so you can even make an appointment with her right then and there. read more

Buyer beware!!!! Poor quality dresses and this guy does not stand by his product. Her dress fell apart 3 HOURS into wearing it, right in the middle of the event :( Not acceptable from a shop that cost 3-4 times what standard hoco dresses are running. They went back to the store to let him know....he was rude, loud and a little unhinged. He refused to offer any financial compensation for the poor quality of his dress and the trauma of having a dress come apart at an event. I went to prom both my Senior and Junior year of High School. I made the trek to JohnnyMari both times for my dresses and it was well worth it! Prom dresses sold at department stores or online are outrageously expensive and also run you the likely risk of having someone else shos up in your gown. Both of my dresses were unique, on trend, elaborate, AND best of all inexpensive!!! During the HOCO season do not go here. Apparently you can't shop there for anything else. So if you're planning on getting married, In a wedding or going to anything formal because they will stop you at the door and not let you in. The person running the store lied and said to call for an appointment but they're not answering the phone. He said oh well get back to you whenever we can but as of now you can't come In. He deserves no stars. He was very rude. The owner has no customer service ethic he even asked me if I had shopped before there and what size I had bought and if I had gained weight. That is not a question you ask a customer. I said it was very rude for him to ask that and we could just leave but we had driven almost an hour and waited an hour until our appointment for him to be very rude walking in, I still had my mom see some dresses and try some on to not waste the drive there or else I would've left right away. We were very uncomfortable my mom didn't want to try anything on because of how rude he was and he basically discriminated us for being curvy girls. Also dresses only go up to a 16 the 18 are very cheap quality and expensive and he only has like 2 dresses that are size 18. In a reply to a review he says he has 18-24 as well but that's a lie. Super overpriced dress. I found a dress at a bridal shop way prettier and better quality for half the price of the ugly $600 dress he was so pushy about us trying. I caught him rolling his eyes a lot and he kept saying I don't know what mom likes and i don't know why she doesn't just try them on. In my opinión if something doesn't catch your eye why would try it on. Also on our way out we saw some tiaras and we needed one for my sister and we bought the most expensive one he had because it was the cutest one and that's when he said oh I had a couple more up front in larger sizes and he found the size 16 in a dress he had told my mom earlier he didn't have. He's like oh i thought I didn't have it. Yeah now that he knows we don't care how much we pay for a dress he wants to show us more dresses in our size. He thinks he can speak to people the way he wants because he's basically the only decent prom/party dress store in the metro Detroit area. I have been shopping for these style dresses for 11 years. I cant remember a time that i recieved such poor service. Never once did someone come to ask me if I needed assistance. At one point a few ladies walked in for shoes and was told yes we have them but they're not any you would like.. ( how presumptuous and rude). When I purchased my dress I was told one price but charged another. Upon calling a man presumably the owner told me I was wrong and misunderstood I explained to him I had two other people with me that heard the samething. I had already told him I lived far away and did not want the refund just that he simply needed to talk to his employee. The man then got very rude and hung up on me. I recently got engaged and since the Oakland Mall is so close to my home, I decided to check these folks out since I've walked past the store for years and like what they have to offer. Upon entering the store, the sales women asked if she could help me find anything. I explained that I had recently gotten engaged and was just beginning to look at dresses that might work for bridesmaids dresses; I explained that if I needed anything, that I would let her know. Before I was even finished saying anything, the owner or manager (whatever he is) decided to butt into our conversation and say they didn't have bridesmaid dresses and they were not that kind of store. I said okay (while thinking that it is really MY choice as to what kind of dresses I want my bridal party to wear) and said 'that's okay, I still want to look around.' At which point he became loud and insistent that they didn't offer bridesmaids dresses... it got to the point where I had to repeatedly (at least a dozen times or more) say 'okay, I'm just looking at the dresses' and he would not stop being loud even when I walked away to look at the selection that the business offered. I took my time and felt like he was watching me like a hawk and he still made comments in a harsh and unwelcoming tone as I wander through the store (and tried to ignore him). After about 10 minutes of this verbal abuse I couldn't take it anymore and I left. If he wasn't interested in selling dresses, then why is he working there? That could have been a potential 4-6 dresses sold to one customer... somewhere in the range of $600-$800. Nice dresses are nice dresses... he needs to think outside the box and let people make their own decisions before he runs them out of the store. FYI - This comes from a 29-year-old, white, masters degree holding women... not some young thug-looking individual that needs to be stalked and watched in the store to make sure I don't do something evil... like find a dress. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! This is the first time I've been here and it will be my last. Me and my friend came to look for Prom dresses, but the customer service was beyond HORRIBLE. I was asked my price range from the beginning. Then I was shown dresses in my price range as to be expected... I found a dress that liked that was more expensive, but I was willing to pay for it. I asked one of the employees to remove it from the wall so I can try it on. Then the employee proceeds to tell me, "You cannot try on the dress unless your serious about buying it, its not even in your price range." As a customer I was DISGUSTED in this comment because if I am willing to give you my money I will try on what I want. I refused to pay for a dress that I cannot try on. After that happened my friend wanted to buy a dress, but she wanted her mother to see it. She asked the manager if he would put it on hold, but he told her that he cannot hold a dress longer than an hour. Then he starts ranting about how she should have brought her mother with her in the first place because its a waste of his time to help customers that try on dresses and put them on hold. He also goes on to say, "Why can't you just face time your mom in today's society you need to learn how to use a phone properly, we have all this technology and you don't use it." As a business owner you should not treat your customers like that. After that experience this is why I gave this place a 1 star rating. read more

Spend $600 on a dress. Asked for alterations which was another $60. The lady was fast about it. Went to pick up my dress. Went to prom...I had needles poking into mine and my dates legs. They were dropping out. Everything I asked to be done...wasn't even touched ! Let alone for the prices of these dresses is not only unreal but I also paid someone $60 for free ! Upon walking in the store my wife and I were very excited to see so many nice dresses we both liked. After looking for a few minutes we requested the help of a sales woman. She was very nice, helpful and polite. We asked for her help in finding some dresses we liked in the sizes and colors we wanted. After gathering 5 or 6 dresses my wife headed to the fitting room to try them on. When she exited wearing the first dress I went to take a picture for my wife to show friends to get their opinion. The Asian man I assume was the owner or manager then very rudely interrupted us and in the most unfriendly ignorant way he could possibly come up with told us that taking pictures was not allowed. After I angrily expressed my feelings to him about how he handled the situation he continued to argue his point with me as if I wasn't even a customer. Now I could understand enforcing this policy on a busy day or if it's a group of young kids just in here wasting time but my wife and I visited the store on a slow Thursday morning and were the only people in the store. We are adults planning to renew our vows this spring and HAD every intention of purchasing a dress from this store because we liked what the had to offer. However, I will not spend my money in a store that treats their customers like this. I highly reccomend finding somewhere else to buy a dress unless you like giving your money to a business that treats their customers like an enemy. I would like to point out that the sales woman was not the problem at all, it was the male manager/owner. My daughter, her friend, and I visited this store this afternoon. After driving an hour from Novi in inclement weather we were happy to get there to pick out a prom dress. There was one other customer in the store who was already being helping when we arrived. We walked around for about 10 minutes looking waiting to be greeting or acknowledged. A lady was fluffing a dress, another just walking around, another helping the only other customer. I went to the counter and said aloud I don't know who to ask for help. No one moved or spoke. So we sat on the bench assuming perhaps they would know we needed helped if we stopped walking around. No one moved. Another young woman came from the back, walked past us sitting, looked at us and kept going. We looked at the woman fluffing the dress and I said is anyone got to help us...nothing. We started out of the stored disappointed and pissed. I turned back and went to the counter to voice my disbelief to a manager. I began to ask a ?and the Asian man behind g the counter quickly shushed me and cont'd instructing the last lady that ignored to do something else. When prompted I told him we weren't greeted or acknowledged. He stated that they are busy. If we need help they will help when they are not busy. We were the only ones in the store. He stated they do not greet people. You must ask for help. Just testing I asked if they had someone to assist us and he said they hire enough people to do the work they need and they have enough people to assist that's how they keep the prices low for us. Not what I asked. I never got a chance to see a price so how would I know what they cost. He told me that they don't stop working to help unless you ask for help and if I didn't like it I could find another store. WOW! I PROMPTLY EXITED THE STORE. My daughter does pageants AND is a high school senior.....PROM soon! He was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I've never experienced anything like that! His arrogance and rudeness was appalling. My daughter's prom dress will be special ordered from Turkey now ($680). Lost my business and any referrals. read more
